Pantekrem is a medicine used for ulcers and wounds. Promotes healing. The active substance is dexpanthenol.
Indications Pantecreme
The medicine is indicated:
- as a preventative measure for treating cracks and reddened dry areas of the skin;
- to speed up the processes of epithelialization, as well as healing after microdamages (this includes small scratches with burns);
- in case of skin irritation due to photo/radiotherapy or ultraviolet radiation;
- for diaper dermatitis;
- for ulcerative lesions of the skin in chronic form;
- for anal fissures, cervical erosions or bedsores;
- after skin transplantation;
- as a means for treating skin areas during the use of corticosteroids or after their withdrawal;
- for prophylactic treatment of the mammary glands of lactating women, as well as to eliminate cracks, and along with them, symptoms of irritation in the nipple area.
Release form
It is produced in the form of a cream, in 30 g tubes. Each separate package contains 1 tube.
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of the drug (dexpanthenol) is a provitamin from the B5 group. Inside the skin cells, the substance is quickly converted into pantothenate and affects the body as a vitamin. At the same time, the absorption of dexpanthenol occurs faster than a similar process involving pantothenate (when applied externally).
Pantothenate is one of the elements of coenzyme A (CoA). In this form (acetyl coenzyme A (CoA)) it is the main participant in metabolic processes inside each cell. That is why pantothenate is necessary in the processes of formation and healing of damaged areas of mucous membranes and skin.
Pharmacokinetics
After external application, dexpanthenol is absorbed through the skin quite quickly. Inside the skin cells, it is immediately converted into pantothenate and joins the internal group of this vitamin.
In the blood, pantothenate is synthesized with plasma albumin and β-globulin. The concentration of the substance in a healthy adult reaches approximately 500-1000 mg/l in the blood, and 100 mg/l in the serum.
Pantothenate does not undergo biotransformation. The substance is excreted unchanged - about 60-70% of the substance is excreted with urine, and the remainder - with feces. An adult excretes 2-7 mg of the substance with urine per day, and children - about 2-3 mg.
Dosing and administration
To speed up the epithelialization process along with the healing of skin damage, it is necessary to treat it with cream once or several times a day (depending on the need) as a preventative measure.
Treatment of the mammary glands of nursing mothers - applying the medicine to the nipples at the end of each feeding procedure.
To eliminate defects on the mucous membrane of the cervix, the cream should be used once or several times a day (frequency depends on need).
Preventive treatment for infants - apply the medicine at each diaper change.
The duration of the treatment course is prescribed by the doctor. The number is individual, the decision takes into account the presence of clinical symptoms of damage on the skin.
Since the cream is absorbed quite quickly, it is allowed to use it for treating wet wounds, as well as damage to the face and skin under the hair. Distribution over the skin surface occurs with ease, which allows using Pantekrem in the treatment of painful sunburns, as well as other minor burn injuries.
Use Pantecreme during pregnancy
There is no information about the risk of using the cream during pregnancy or lactation. The possibility of fetotoxic effects is unlikely. But in any case, pregnant women should use the cream only as prescribed by a doctor.
If used to eliminate cracked nipples during lactation, the medicine must be washed off before feeding.
Side effects Pantecreme
The use of the cream may lead to the development of side effects with manifestation on the skin and subcutaneous layer, as well as an immune reaction. There is information about manifestations of allergy on the skin: the development of an allergic or contact form of dermatitis, as well as erythema with itching, urticaria with eczema, and rashes. Blisters may appear on the skin and irritation may occur.
Storage conditions
The cream should be stored out of reach of children. Do not freeze the medicine. Temperature indicators - maximum 25°C.
