Pharmacodynamics

Phenylephrine hydrochloride is the main component of Nazol Kids. It reduces the degree of swelling and redness of the mucous membranes in the nose, reduces exudation, helps to restore free breathing, lowers the pressure in the paranasal sinuses and in the middle ear cavity. These properties are typical for phenylephrine, since this substance is an agonist of α1-adrenergic receptors (sympathomimetic substance). Its main ability is vasoconstriction, which occurs by activating α1-receptors in the superficial mucous layer. The use of Nazol Kids prevents the development of complications associated with congestion in the upper respiratory tract.

Pharmacokinetics

Nazol Kids spray is applied locally, so its active ingredient phenylephrine practically does not enter the systemic bloodstream. As a result, there is no reliable data on the pharmacokinetic properties of the drug.
