Pharmacodynamics

Nazo-Spray is a remedy from a group of external vasoconstrictor drugs. The active ingredient oxymetazoline has an α-adrenergic property, being a synthetic adrenomimetic.

Naso-spray stops the discharge from the nose of almost any etiology. Active oxymetazoline rapidly narrows the vessels at the local level, reduces the signs of swelling of the tissues, facilitates breathing through the nose and restores the olfactory function.

The use of the drug does not violate mucociliary clearance, and the functional properties of the mucosal upper respiratory tract are soon resumed.

Interactions with other drugs

With the combined use of other drugs that can narrow the blood vessels, there may be an increase in side effects.

The active ingredient worsens the absorption of other nasal solutions and lengthens the period of their action, and also enhances the effect on the nervous system of MAO inhibitory agents.

It is not recommended to use Nazo-Spray for a long time, since this can provoke the development of atrophic changes in the mucosal epithelial tissue. For the same reasons, several vasoconstrictors should not be used simultaneously.

Treatment of chronic forms of rhinitis should be conducted alternately, in conjunction with other means.
