Indications nasoline
Nazolin may be prescribed to treat the following diseases and conditions:
- runny nose accompanying acute respiratory viral infection or acute respiratory disease;
- vasomotor rhinitis;
- allergic rhinitis;
- salpingootitis;
- nosebleed;
- swelling of the nasal cavity, sinusitis or sinusitis.
In addition, Nazolin can be used to prepare for diagnostic procedures or operations in the nasal cavity.

Release form
Intranasal drops Nazolin are available in polymer bottles with a dosing cap, 10 ml of 0.05% preparation. The drops look like a transparent solution, without any specific aroma. Each bottle is packed in a separate cardboard box.
1 ml of drops contains:
- naphazoline nitrate – 1 mg or 0.5 mg;
- additional components are represented by boric acid and specially purified water.
Pharmacodynamics
Nazolin drops have an external vasoconstrictor effect. The active ingredient naphazoline is a synthetic α-adrenergic agonist that activates adrenergic receptors located in the smooth muscles of the vessels of the nasal cavity.
Nazolin stops nasal discharge of any origin. The active substance naphazoline quickly narrows superficial vessels, reduces signs of swelling of the mucous membranes, and ensures blood flow from inflamed tissues.
[ 3 ]
Pharmacokinetics
Naphazoline begins to act immediately after application of the drug to the mucous membranes. The maximum effect is detected after 15 minutes. The duration of the vasoconstrictive effect is up to 6 hours.
Systemic absorption of the active component is insignificant and does not have a negative effect on a healthy organism. The total period of systemic action may be less than 10 minutes. With prolonged treatment with Nazolin, a cumulative effect of the drug is detected.
Dosing and administration
Nazolin drops are used as follows:
- adults and children over six years of age administer 1-2 drops of 0.05% Nazolin up to 3 times a day;
- Children aged 1-6 years are given 1-2 drops of 0.05% Nazolin up to 3 times a day.
The duration of the treatment course is 5 days. If necessary, the course can be repeated after 2-3 days.
In case of nosebleeds, a tamponade using 0.05% of the drug is used.
When performing procedures and manipulations in the nasal cavity, up to 4 drops of a 0.1% preparation are used in combination with anesthetic drops.
Immediately before instilling the drug, the bottle should be warmed in your hands so that the solution reaches body temperature.

Use nasoline during pregnancy
The use of Nazolin by women during pregnancy is not recommended. Sometimes the drug can be prescribed only after a thorough assessment of the probable danger to the course of pregnancy and fetal development. In such cases, it is especially important to adhere to the recommended doses of the drug.
During lactation, Nazolin cannot be used, as its active substances enter breast milk.

- Diseases associated with metabolic disorders (thyroid disease, diabetes).
- Increased intraocular pressure.
- Chronic inflammation of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract.
- Myocardial ischemia, hypertension, cardiac failure.

Side effects nasoline
With prolonged use of Nazolin, the following side effects may develop:
- pain, itching and burning in the nasal cavity;
- redness and swelling of the nasal mucosa;
- tachycardia, increased blood pressure, heart pain;
- allergic reactions (rash, urticaria, angioedema);
- nausea;
- headache.
To avoid side effects, it is not recommended to use Nazolin for a long time, or to exceed the recommended doses. After the end of treatment, the damaged structure of the mucous membrane is restored in most cases.
Overdose
When using the drug Nazolin in excess of the recommended doses, the following signs of overdose may be observed:
- peripheral vascular spasms;
- heart rhythm disorders;
- hypothermia;
- increased blood pressure.
In severe cases, symptomatic treatment is carried out with adrenolytics and sympatholytic drugs, but only after complete discontinuation of Nazolin.
Interactions with other drugs
When combined with other drugs that can constrict blood vessels, increased side effects may be observed.
Nazolin blocks the absorption of other nasal drops and prolongs their period of action, and also enhances the effect of MAO inhibitor drugs on the central nervous system.
It is not recommended to use several external vasoconstrictor drugs at the same time.
