Dosing and administration

For coughs, it is good to take tea, infusion and decoction of the flowers and leaves of the plant.

For tea, it is better to take flowers that have a noticeable mucolytic effect, i.e. thanks to them, phlegm becomes less viscous and leaves the bronchi more easily during coughing. For a 250-gram cup of boiling water, take 1 teaspoon of dried flowers. Infuse the composition covered for about 10-15 minutes. Drink the finished tea warm in 2 doses.

For infusion and decoction, take 1 tbsp of dry raw material for the same amount of boiling water. In this case, it is better to use leaves or leaves together with flowers. The infusion is prepared by keeping the composition covered for 40-45 minutes, then filtered and taken 3 tbsp. 3-4 times a day. The "medicine" should be taken before meals.

The decoction is prepared by boiling the mixture for 10 minutes, then leaving it to infuse for another half hour. A single dose of the decoction is 1 tbsp. The frequency of administration is 3 times a day. The decoction, like the infusion, is taken before meals.

There is another recipe: pour 3-4 teaspoons of dry leaves of the plant with a glass of boiling water and keep in a water bath for a quarter of an hour. Then strain the infusion, add water to the top of the glass, and take the remedy in the first days of the illness, 1 tablespoon at intervals of 2 hours. When it becomes a little easier, you can take the infusion 3 or 4 times a day half an hour before meals.

From the dried leaves of coltsfoot you can prepare a powder, which for bronchitis should be consumed 3 times a day with warm milk. A single dose of powder is 1 g (approximately 1.5 tsp).

For coughs, a compress of fresh coltsfoot leaves, previously steamed in hot milk, has a good effect. This compress is kept warm on the chest, covering the leaves with film and a warm cloth.

When using herbs for pneumonia and bronchitis (pneumonia is often a consequence of insufficient treatment of bronchitis), do not forget about coltsfoot. Prepared juice from fresh leaves of the plant is stored in the refrigerator, mixing 2 parts with 1 part sugar or powdered sugar. The medicine should be taken 4-5 times a day before meals. Single dose - 1 tbsp.

Coltsfoot is included in many herbal infusions for bronchitis and pneumonia, along with chamomile, oregano, wild rosemary, birch buds, nettle, plantain and other medicinal herbs.

The herb is also useful for bronchial asthma if its leaves are mixed with the same amount of plantain leaves and pine buds. Take 4 teaspoons of the herbal mixture per glass of water, let the mixture steep for two hours, then boil it for no more than 5 minutes. Drink the decoction in 3 doses during 1 day.

Coltsfoot is used for inhalations in the form of an infusion. Take 1 tablespoon of dry grass and flowers per glass of boiling water. After brewing the plant with boiling water and waiting until the mixture cools slightly, you can cover yourself with a towel over it and breathe in the healing steam.
