Megadin is a multivitamin preparation containing beneficial microelements.

Indications Megadine

Used to eliminate hypovitaminosis:

  • in the period before or after surgical operations;
  • during illnesses and during recovery;
  • in case of a disorder of the digestive processes in the gastrointestinal tract: problems with the nutritional function and the functioning of the intestinal mucosa, and in addition, chronic diarrhea, pancreatic insufficiency and liver insufficiency;
  • to replenish the balance of vitamins in case of their increased loss (for example, with frequent consumption of alcoholic beverages);
  • for severe burns.

Release form

The medicine is released in tablets, in the amount of 10 pieces inside a blister plate. There are 3 such plates in a pack.

Megadin Pronatal

Megadin Pronatal is used to prevent the possibility of developing a deficiency of minerals and vitamins in cases where the need for them is increased (for example, during lactation or pregnancy), and in addition to this, to prevent the appearance of negative symptoms (due to vitamin deficiency) at the stage of rehabilitation after prolonged and severe pathologies.

Pharmacodynamics

Megadin is a multivitamin complex medicine, which contains a balanced amount of all necessary vitamins (except K), and in addition to this, important mineral components and microelements. The complex consists of 8 minerals, as well as 12 vitamins, which are important participants in metabolic processes.

A group of fat-soluble vitamins.

Retinol is a participant in the processes of formation of visual pigments. At the same time, it helps to ensure the integrity of epithelial tissues and bone growth.

Ergocalciferol helps regulate the processes of phosphorus and calcium metabolism, potentiates intestinal absorption of phosphates and calcium, and in addition helps bone mineralization and the formation of teeth and skeletal bones in children. At the same time, the element potentiates ossification, which is necessary for the stable functioning of the parathyroid glands.

Tocopherol is a natural antioxidant. It prevents high blood clotting and has a positive effect on peripheral blood flow. It is a participant in protein binding and cell growth processes, and is also involved in the work of the cardiovascular system, skeletal muscles and sex glands.

A group of water-soluble vitamins.

Thiamine inside the human body is transformed into the element cocarboxylase (during phosphorylation), which is a coenzyme of many enzymatic reactions. This vitamin is very important in protein, carbohydrate and fat metabolism. It is a participant in all important metabolic processes inside the heart, nervous system, muscles and blood cells, and in addition to this, the processes of transporting nerve reactions inside synapses.

Riboflavin helps regulate oxidation-reduction processes in fat, protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Provides visual acuity, helps heal skin cells and is involved in hemoglobin binding processes.

Pyridoxine is necessary for the stable functioning of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Its phosphorylated form is a coenzyme involved in the process of amino acid metabolism (such as decarboxylation or transamination, etc.). In addition, it is involved in the processes of biosynthesis of neurotransmitters: norepinephrine with serotonin and adrenaline, as well as dopamine and histamine.

Cyanocobalamin is required for normal hematopoietic function and maturation of erythrocytes. In addition, it participates in individual biochemical processes, helping the body's vital functions (such as binding proteins and nucleic acids, transfer of methyl categories, metabolism of carbohydrates and amino acids with lipids). This component affects processes inside the nervous system (binding of DNA and RNA, as well as phospholipids and myelin with cerebrosides). Coenzyme forms of the vitamin are methylcobalamin with adenosylcobalamin (they are required for cell growth and replication).

Nicotinamide is essential for fat metabolism, glycogenolysis and tissue respiration processes.

Pantothenic acid is contained in coenzyme A, which is an important part of oxidation processes with acetylation, and also participates in the metabolism of fats with carbohydrates, as well as the binding of steroid hormones and acetylcholine. The substance improves energy supply during myocardial contractions and accelerates healing processes.

Ascorbic acid helps bind collagen, and at the same time participates in the processes of iron and folic acid metabolism. It is also important in binding catecholamines with steroid hormones.

Biotin is a prosthetic group of carboxylation enzymes (the process of introducing a carboxyl category into a group). It is used to bind higher-type fatty acids, as well as oxaloacetate, thereby influencing carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Biotin also participates in the binding of purines, which are part of the nucleotide-nucleic acid bond.

Folic acid is required for healthy growth of megaloblasts and formation of normoblasts. It stimulates the process of erythropoiesis, and is also involved in the metabolism of choline and the binding of purines, amino acids and pyrimidines to nucleic acids. During pregnancy, this substance performs a protective function in relation to the fetus, preventing its exposure to negative factors, and also prevents placental abruption. It is very important for the maturation of spermatozoa, so it is often used as a preventive measure for infertility in men.

Vitamins that are water-soluble do not accumulate within the body.

Minerals.

Calcium promotes bone formation, blood clotting, nerve signal transmission, smooth muscle contraction, skeletal muscle contraction, and stable cardiac function. It also helps absorb iron.

Phosphorus together with calcium strengthens the strength of teeth and bones, which contain 85% of all phosphorus in the body. The remaining 15% participate in many different chemical processes occurring inside the body. The most important of them are protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, energy production, and protein synthesis.

Magnesium helps in the formation of bone and muscle tissue, as well as protein binding processes.

Iron is a part of the hemoglobin molecule, which is involved in the movement of oxygen within the body and prevents the development of anemia.

Manganese helps improve bone mineralization.

Copper is required for stable red blood cell function and iron metabolism.

Zinc promotes tissue healing and is a component of certain hormones, including insulin.

Molybdenum is a component of a group of enzymes that participate in the detoxification of components foreign to the human body. It helps retain fluorine in the body, thereby preventing the occurrence of caries. The most basic function of this substance is to accelerate the breakdown of purine and the excretion of uric acid. If molybdenum enters the body in the required quantities, it acts as a preventive measure against gout.

Dosing and administration

Teenagers aged 12 and over and adults should take 1 tablet of LS per day (with food). It should not be chewed – it should be swallowed whole and washed down with plain water.

It is recommended to take Megadin for 30 days.

Use Megadine during pregnancy

Megadin should not be used in the first trimester. It can be used in the second half of pregnancy, and also during lactation only under the supervision of a doctor and in cases where the benefit from taking it is higher than the risk of negative consequences for the child or fetus.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

  • the presence of hypersensitivity to one or more elements of the drug;
  • hypervitaminosis types A or D;
  • renal failure;
  • hypercalcemia;
  • the period during which therapy with retinoids is carried out.

Side effects Megadine

When taking the recommended dosages of the drug, no side effects were observed even when it was used for several months.

Among the disorders that arise from taking large doses of the drug, the following are distinguished:

  • signs of allergy: rash on the epidermis, itching, skin hyperemia (arise due to individual intolerance to the medication);
  • urine takes on a bright yellow hue (this reaction is harmless and occurs due to the presence of riboflavin in the drug);
  • the feces become darker in color (this effect is also harmless and occurs due to the presence of iron in the medicine).

Overdose

To avoid intoxication, it is prohibited to combine the drug with other multivitamin products containing microelements.

Interactions with other drugs

When combining the drug with medications containing phenytoin, bisphosphonate, and also tetracycline with fluoroquinolone and penicillamine, a 2-hour interval should be maintained between their use (due to the risk of changing absorption).

Combined use with the following medications is permitted (under the supervision of the attending physician):

  • medications that contain levodopa (since pyridoxine weakens its properties);
  • folic acid antagonist drugs (due to the possibility of decreased effectiveness);
  • Medicines that contain L-thyroxine (because they contain inorganic iodine).
