A vitamin remedy for the prevention of mineral deficiency in the body. Let's consider its features, methods of application, dosage and contraindications. A combined drug for regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism in the body. Increases bone density and reduces the level of resorption, replenishes calcium and vitamin D deficiency.
Indications Ideos
Ideos has the following indications for use:
- Restoration of calcium and vitamin D3 levels in elderly patients.
- Complex treatment and prevention of osteoporosis caused by deficiency of vitamin D3 and calcium.
- Treatment and prevention of secondary osteoporosis in rheumatic diseases, for the treatment of which anticonvulsants, corticosteroids and cytostatics are used.
During the period of Ideos use, it is necessary to monitor the level of calcium and creatine in urine and blood plasma. If the test results reveal calciuria above 7.5 mmol/day (300 mg/day), it is recommended to stop treatment or reduce the dosage.

Release form
Ideos is available in the form of chewable tablets. They are square with rounded edges, white with a chamfer. Each package contains one tube of 15 capsules. The tablet form of release allows you to calculate the required amount of medicine for the entire course of therapy.
One dragee contains: 1.25 g calcium carbonate, 500 mg elemental calcium and 400 IU vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). The excipients are: sorbitol, magnesium stearate, xylitol, lemon flavoring and polyvinylpyrrolidone.
Pharmacodynamics
The vitamin preparation affects the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium in the body. Pharmacodynamics is based on the restorative properties of Ideos. Calcium is responsible for the formation of bone tissue, mineralization of teeth, blood clotting, nerve conduction processes and the stability of nervous activity, regulates muscle contractions.
It normalizes the level of vitamin D3 and calcium, accelerates its intake into the body with food and improves absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Regulates the metabolism of phosphorus and calcium, increases the absorption of minerals into bone tissue.
Pharmacokinetics
The processes occurring with the drug after use are determined by the interaction of its components. The pharmacokinetics of vitamin D indicate its absorption in the small intestine. Calcium is absorbed in ionized form in the proximal intestine due to an active D-vitamin-dependent transport mechanism.
The active substances are subject to double hydroxylation: in the liver with 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (calciferol) and in the renal tubules with the active metabolite – 1,125 dihydroxyvitamin D3 (calcitriol).

Dosing and administration
Ideos is prescribed for calcium deficiency in the body. The method of administration and dosage are prescribed by the attending physician. The tablets are taken orally regardless of food intake. The capsules can be chewed or sucked. For adults and adolescents, the daily dosage is 2 tablets, for pregnant women - no more than 1 pc. per day.
If one dose is missed, doubling the next dose is contraindicated. The duration of therapy is determined by the attending physician, based on the course and severity of the underlying disease.
Use Ideos during pregnancy
To maintain the normal functioning of all organs and systems of the female body during pregnancy and lactation, it is necessary to take multivitamins. Ideos is included in the category of vitamin preparations that affect metabolism and the digestive system.
Its use during pregnancy is controlled by the attending physician. The daily dose of calcium should not exceed 150 mg, and the dose of vitamin D3 - 600 IU. Cholecalciferol metabolites are excreted in breast milk. An overdose of these substances can lead to mental and physical developmental disorders in the child.
Contraindications
Ideos is contraindicated for use in the following cases:
- Hypercalcemia
- Hypercalciuria
- Osteoporosis (caused by prolonged immobilization)
- Urolithiasis (formation of calcium stones)
- Hypersensitivity to vitamin D and other components
The drug should be used with special caution in cases of renal failure and sarcoidosis.
Side effects Ideos
If the instructions and doctor's recommendations for use of the product are not followed, side effects occur. Most often, these are disorders of the digestive system: diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, nausea and vomiting, painful sensations in the epigastric region.
In rare cases, allergic reactions and increased calcium levels in the blood and urine occur.

Overdose
Long-term use of Ideos and exceeding the prescribed dosages cause painful symptoms. In case of overdose, patients complain of nausea and vomiting, constipation, flatulence, thirst.
Chronic overdose may cause tissue/vascular calcification via hypercalcemia. To eliminate unpleasant symptoms, it is necessary to stop taking the drug and rehydrate.
To prevent overdose, it is recommended to consider additional sources of vitamin D3 and avoid additional vitamin complexes that contain calcium and vitamin D.
Interactions with other drugs
In complex therapy for calcium deficiency and osteoporosis, Ideos may interact with other drugs.
- When used simultaneously with vitamin A, the toxicity of vitamin D is reduced.
- Barbiturates, phenytoin and glucocorticosteroids reduce the effectiveness of Ideos.
- Glucocorticoids reduce calcium absorption.
- Cholestyramine and laxatives reduce the absorption of vitamin D3.
- The vitamin product reduces the absorption of sodium fluoride and biophosphates, so when using them, you need to observe a time interval (at least 2 hours).
- Reduces the absorption of antibiotics from the tetracycline group. To prevent this effect, the drugs are taken at intervals of 3 hours.
- Increases the toxicity of cardiac glycosides, therefore monitoring of the ECG and clinical condition of the patient is required.
- When used with thiazide diuretics, there is a risk of hypercalcemia.
- Furosemide increases the period of calcium excretion by the kidneys.
Storage conditions
The tablets should be kept in the original packaging, protected from moisture, sunlight and out of reach of children. The temperature should not be higher than 25°C. Compliance with the storage conditions prevents premature spoilage of Ideos.
