Pharmacodynamics
Hofitol is of plant origin and has a hepatoprotective, choleretic, and diuretic effect on the body. In addition, the drug reduces the amount of urea in the blood. The drug contains artichoke extract, which contains carotene, as well as ascorbic acid with inulin, and in addition, vitamins of groups B1 and B2. All these substances stabilize metabolism. Hofitol also increases the production of coenzymes by hepatocytes and at the same time affects the metabolism of substances such as cholesterol, lipids, and ketone bodies. During antibiotic treatment, the drug has a detoxifying effect on the renal or hepatic parenchyma. The drug removes various toxic substances from the body.
Pharmacokinetics
Artichoke extract contains a whole complex of bioactive components, such as polyphenolic elements (luteolin and cynarin, as well as various acids (including caffeic, ferulic and chlorogenic acids)), inulin, bioflavonoids, various vitamins with minerals, as well as microelements and sesquiterpene lactones. Thus, the effect of the drug is caused by the combined effect of all these substances. This is why it is impossible to conduct kinetic studies of the drug - it is impossible to track all the elements using bioassays or markers. Because of this, it is also impossible to identify all the metabolites of the drug.
