Gynoflor E is a medical product containing a combination of two active ingredients:
- Lactobacillus acidophilus: These are friendly microorganisms that naturally live in the vagina of healthy women and help maintain vaginal health. They help maintain normal pH in the vagina, inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and can prevent the development of infections.
- Estriol: This is a natural estrogen that may be useful in restoring and maintaining the health of the vaginal mucous membranes. It promotes hydration and strengthening of tissue, which can help reduce symptoms of dryness, itching and irritation.
Gynoflor E is usually used for the treatment and prevention of various female vaginal infections, such as bacterial vaginosis, thrush and other vaginal dysbiosis. It can also be recommended for women during menopause to improve the condition of vaginal tissue.
The dosage and regimen of Gynoflor E are usually indicated in the instructions for the drug or prescribed by a doctor depending on the specific situation.
Indications Gynoflora E
- Treatment and prevention of vaginal infections: Including bacterial vaginosis, thrush (vaginal candidiasis) and other vaginal dysbiosis caused by impaired microbiocyocenosis.
- Reducing the risk of recurrent vaginal infections: Gynoflor E can be used to prevent recurrent episodes of vaginal infections in women prone to frequent recurrences.
- Improving the condition of the vaginal mucous membranes: Estriol contained in the drug helps restore and maintain the health of the vaginal mucous membranes, especially with dryness, itching, irritation and other uncomfortable symptoms.
Release form
Vaginal tablets or capsules: These forms of the drug are inserted into the vagina and can be used to treat or prevent vaginal dysbiosis (an imbalance in the vaginal flora) or other vaginal infections. In addition, they can be used to restore natural microflora after a course of antibiotics or other medical procedures.
Pharmacodynamics
-
Lactobacillus acidophilus:
- Probiotic action: Lactobacillus acidophilus is a normal microorganism that inhabits the vagina. They help maintain normal vaginal microflora, creating an acidic environment that inhibits the growth of pathogenic microorganisms.
- Anti-inflammatory effect: Some studies show that lactobacilli may reduce inflammation in the vagina and reduce the risk of developing genitourinary tract infections in women.
- Strengthening the immune system: Lactobacillus helps strengthen the immune system, which can also help fight infections.
-
Estriol:
- Estrogenic Action: Estriol is an estrogen that has an agonistic effect on estrogen receptors in vaginal tissue. It may help restore estrogen balance, improving the tone and elasticity of vaginal tissue.
- Moisturizing and softening the mucous membrane: Estriol helps to moisturize and soften the vaginal mucosa, which can be useful for dryness and irritation.
Pharmacokinetics
Information on the pharmacokinetics of Gynoflor E (lactobacillus acidophilus, estriol) may be limited due to the characteristics of this drug. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a living microorganism that is usually found in the normal microflora of the human body. The pharmacokinetics of such probiotics may include their survival and colonization in the intestine, but this depends on many factors, including individual characteristics and the patient's condition.
As for estriol, it is an estrogen, which may have its own pharmacokinetics, including metabolism and excretion from the body. However, in combination with Lactobacillus acidophilus, its pharmacokinetics may be modified.
Dosing and administration
-
Tablet introduction:
- Gynoflor E is administered vaginally, preferably at bedtime to minimize leakage and maximize overnight exposure.
- Before inserting the tablet, your hands and vaginal area should be clean and dry.
- The tablet should be inserted as deep into the vagina as possible, using your finger or a special applicator, if one is provided.
-
Course duration:
- The course of treatment and prevention may vary depending on the doctor’s instructions and individual needs.
Dosage:
- Standard scheme:
- To treat vaginal atrophic changes associated with menopause, it is often recommended to start with one tablet daily for the first two to three weeks, then progress to maintenance therapy, such as one tablet twice a week.
- Prevention of recurrent vaginal infections:
- To maintain normal vaginal microflora, you can use one tablet two to three times a week for a long period, as agreed with your doctor.
Special instructions:
- Do not use vaginal douches during treatment with Gynoflor E, as this may interfere with the effectiveness of the medicine.
- If you forget to take a dose, do so as soon as possible, but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the forgotten dose and continue as usual.
- During menstruation, you can continue using the drug if it is comfortable for you, or discuss a possible pause with your doctor.
Use Gynoflora E during pregnancy
Information about the safety of using Gynoflor E during pregnancy may be limited.
Contraindications
- Individual intolerance: People with a known individual intolerance to lactobacilli acidophilus, estrol or any other components of the drug should avoid its use.
- Pregnancy: There is no data on the safety of using Gynoflor E during pregnancy. Therefore, its use during this period should be carried out only after consultation with a doctor.
- Age restrictions: The use of this drug may be limited in children and adolescents as data on its safety and effectiveness in this age group may be limited.
- Vaginal infections: The use of Gynoflor E may be contraindicated in the presence of vaginal infections, such as vaginitis or other inflammatory processes, until an accurate diagnosis and treatment of the underlying disease has been established.
- Other health conditions: The use of the drug may be limited in patients with certain health conditions, such as immunodeficiency conditions or autoimmune diseases, due to possible risks or the need for special medical supervision.
Side effects Gynoflora E
-
Local reactions:
- Irritation or discomfort in the vagina: Some women may experience a slight burning, itching or irritation after inserting the pill.
- Increased vaginal discharge: use of the drug may lead to an increase in vaginal discharge.
- Vaginal bleeding: Although this is a less common effect, some women may notice slight vaginal bleeding or spotting.
-
Allergic reactions:
- It is rare, but allergic reactions to one of the components of the drug are possible, which can manifest as urticaria, itching, swelling and severe respiratory reactions.
-
Systemic hormonal effects:
- Although the estriol in Gynoflor E is applied topically and in low doses, systemic hormonal effects are theoretically possible, especially with long-term use.
Overdose
Information about overdose of the drug Gynoflor E, containing lactobacilli acidophilus and estriol, is usually limited due to its safe profile. However, if you exceed the recommended dose or unintentionally take a large amount of the drug, various undesirable effects may occur.
Since Lactobacillus acidophilus is part of the normal vaginal microflora, an excess of them may not lead to serious consequences. However, uncontrolled proliferation of lactobacilli can lead to changes in vaginal pH and the development of irritation or dysbiosis.
With regard to estriol, excess consumption can cause estrogen levels in the body to exceed levels, which in turn can lead to unwanted effects such as dizziness, nausea, tenderness or heaviness in the breasts, and may also increase the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome. p>
