The drug Galidor (synonyms - Bencyclane, Bencyclane fumarate, Bencyclamide, Angiocyclane) belongs to the pharmacological group of myotropic antispasmodics, which, by reducing muscle tone of the tissues of internal organs and blood vessels, relieve spasms.

Indications Galidora
The drug Halidor is used in the complex therapy of diseases of blood vessels associated with their narrowing (stenosis) or complete blockage (occlusion). These include obliterating atherosclerosis, obliterating endarteritis (thrombangiitis), peripheral forms of non-specific aortoarteritis. Halidor is also used for diseases of the eye vessels (obstruction of the central retinal artery, diabetic angiopathy, etc.)
The drug is prescribed for pathologies of the brain vessels (acute and chronic forms of cerebral ischemia), for spasms of peripheral vessels characteristic of acrocinosis, idiopathic Raynaud's syndrome and pernio.
Indications for the use of Galidor are diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and urinary system, which are accompanied by spasms of the internal organs: gastroenteritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, colitis, spastic dyskinesia of the colon, frequent painful urge to defecate (tenesmus), flatulence after surgery, spasms and tenesmus of the bladder.
Release form
The drug Galidor is available in two forms: in the form of tablets (100 mg) and a 2.5% solution (in 2 ml ampoules) for intravenous and intramuscular injections.

Pharmacodynamics
The therapeutic effect of the drug Galidor is based on the biochemical action of its active substance bencyclane (N,N-Dimethyl-3-[[1-(phenylmethyl)cycloheptyl]oxy]-1-propanamine), which is capable of changing the ionic balance in the membranes of smooth muscle cells.
As a result, the process of activation of the cellular enzyme ATP-pyrophosphate lyase is launched with simultaneous blockade of membrane proteins - adenosine receptors. The result of all biochemical reactions is a decrease in contractions of the cells of the visceral muscle tissue (muscles of internal organs). Due to this, muscle relaxation, a decrease in the tone of blood vessels and removal of spasm occur.
Pharmacokinetics
When entering the gastrointestinal tract (when taking the drug orally), the active substance of the drug Galidor is quickly absorbed, and its maximum concentration in the blood plasma is reached on average after three hours. About 40% of the drug binds to plasma proteins, up to 30% to erythrocytes, and 10% to thrombocytes.
After passing through the liver, the bioavailability of Halidor (after oral administration) is a maximum of 35%.
Bencyclane is metabolized in the liver; the final degradation products are excreted in the urine (half-life is 6 to 10 hours). The rate of plasma clearance of the drug (total clearance) is 40 L per hour, renal clearance is less than 1 L per hour.
Dosing and administration
Halidor in tablet form for vascular pathologies is taken one tablet (100 mg) three times a day. The average duration of treatment is two months, during which the doctor can reduce the dosage to one tablet twice a day.
To relieve persistent spasms of internal organs, Galidor is prescribed 1-2 tablets (100-200 mg) - once a day; for maintenance therapy - one tablet three times a day. The maximum daily dose of this drug is 400 mg, the duration of the course of therapy is no more than 1-2 months.
Method of administration of Galidor in the form of a 2.5% solution: intramuscularly (if necessary intravenously - slowly) 1-2 ml per injection. In case of diseases of blood vessels, the solution can be administered by infusion (drip) into a vein (4 ml of the drug are diluted with 100-200 ml of isotonic NaCl solution).
For spasms of internal organs, the drug is administered intravenously (with isotonic solution) or deep into the muscle. The standard course of treatment lasts no more than three weeks.
Use Galidora during pregnancy
The use of Galidor during pregnancy is contraindicated. If Galidor is prescribed to nursing women, breastfeeding should be suspended for the duration of the drug intake.
Contraindications
Contraindications to the use of the drug Galidor include: severe forms of respiratory, renal, hepatic and decompensated heart failure, myocardial infarction, ventricular tachycardia, epilepsy, hemorrhagic stroke, traumatic brain injury (suffered within the last year), age under 18 years.
Side effects Galidora
When using the drug Galidor, the following side effects are possible: general malaise, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, decreased (or increased) appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, tremor, sleep disturbances.
Memory disorders similar to epileptic seizures, heart rhythm disturbances, weight gain, and decreased white blood cell count (leukopenia) are also possible. Therefore, long-term use of the drug should be monitored for blood composition.
When undergoing treatment with Galidor, one should also take into account the possibility of this drug having a negative impact on the ability to drive a car and operate potentially dangerous machinery.
Overdose
Overdose of Halidor is expressed in increased heart rate, decreased blood pressure, spontaneous urination, drowsiness or anxiety; collapse, convulsions are possible. In case of such symptoms, gastric lavage should be done.
Interactions with other drugs
Taking Halidor with drugs that reduce potassium levels (diuretics, laxatives) enhances their effect. Taking with cardiac glycosides (digitalis preparations) may cause cardiac dysfunction. Simultaneous use of Halidor with drugs for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia or arterial hypertension (non-selective and selective beta-blockers) may cause tachycardia.
The interaction of Halidor with sedatives (calming) and anesthetics is expressed in the enhancement of their effect on the central nervous system. And the use of Halidor and the intake of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) can disrupt the aggregation (sticking together) of platelets and lead to bleeding.
