Indications Gabatin 50
Gabantin 50 is indicated for epileptic seizures (seizures), with non-curable epilepsy as an auxiliary therapy, neuropathic pain (with nerve damage).
[4],
Release form
Gabantine 50 is supplied in the form of capsules. Each capsule contains 50 mg of active substance - gabapentin. The package contains 30 capsules.
Pharmacodynamics
Gabantin 50 refers to antiepileptic drugs that act as a brake mediator in the central nervous system. It is believed that the principle of action of the main substance (gebapentin) has some differences from other anticonvulsants, which act through the connection between the neurons (or neuron and cell).
Studies have shown that gabapentin leads to the formation of a new molecular binding site in the brain tissues, in particular in the hippocampus and cortex, which may be related to the anticonvulsant effect of the drug (studies were carried out in vitro, ie, outside the living organism).
No binding of the active substance of the drug to other neurotransmitter receptors and drugs in the brain is observed.
To date, the final mechanism of action of gabapentin has not been identified.
Pharmacokinetics
Gabatin 50 is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. After 2-3 hours after intake, the absolute concentration of the active substance in the blood is observed. The pharmacokinetics of gabapentin is not affected by simultaneous ingestion of food (including fatty).
There is no binding of gabapentin to blood proteins.
The drug is excreted only with urine. There were no signs of a chemical transformation of the drug in the human body. Complete elimination of the drug occurs after 5-7 hours, regardless of the dosage.
In childhood (over 12 years), the concentration in the plasma does not differ from the adult indices.
With the extrarenal method of purifying the blood, the drug is completely removed from the blood.
The rate of cleansing of the body in old age and in violation of the work of the kidneys is reduced.
Dosing and administration
Gabanthin 50 is taken orally regardless of food intake.
In epilepsy, children from 12 years and adults usually receive 6 tablets per day. Dosage of the drug every day is increased by 300 mg to achieve the desired therapeutic effect.
The optimal dosage is 300-600 mg three times a day (900-1800 mg per day). To some patients, the dosage is increased to 3600 mg per day. The interval between taking the drug should not exceed 12 hours.
In childhood from 8 to 12 years, 10-15 mg per 1 kg of body weight per day is prescribed.
The optimal dosage is 25-30 mg per 1 kg of body weight per day (the daily dose should be divided into three doses). The dosage is increased within three days.
Also, treatment according to another scheme can be prescribed:
- Weight from 26 to 36 kg - 300 mg three times a day.
- Weight from 37 to 50 kg - 400 mg three times a day.
- Weight from 51 to 72 kg - 600 mg three times a day.
With neuropathic pain, 300 mg per day is prescribed, every day the dosage is increased by 300 mg to achieve the desired therapeutic effect.
The maximum dose per day should not exceed 3600 mg per day (the interval between taking the drug is not more than 12 hours).
If the kidneys are not working properly, the dosage depends on the level of creatinine:
- more than 60 ml / min - 300 mg three times a day
- from 30 to 60 ml / min - 300 mg every other day
Patients who undergo an extrarenal blood purification method are prescribed 300 mg of the drug every 4 hours of purification.
Use Gabatin 50 during pregnancy
A full-fledged study on the use of gabbatin 50 pregnant women has not been conducted.
When prescribing a pregnant woman, the expert evaluates the expected therapeutic effect of the drug and the possible risk to the fetus.
When Gabatin 50 is administered, penetration of the active substance into breast milk is observed. The effect of gabapentin on a newborn was not established.
Side effects Gabatin 50
Gabantin 50 causes fatigue, dizziness, trembling, excessive nervous excitement, depressive states, feelings of anxiety, hostility, headaches, drowsiness.
Possible abdominal pain, problems with stools, dry mouth, inflammation of the pancreas, vomiting.
In rare cases, urinary incontinence, edema, inflammation of the sebaceous glands, darkening of the enamel of the teeth, glucose in the blood (with diabetes mellitus), capillary hemorrhage, fever, tinnitus, allergic reactions develop.
Interactions with other drugs
The likelihood of interaction Gabatin 50 with other drugs is extremely low. It is allowed to take the drug simultaneously with other drugs for the treatment of epilepsy.
The active substance of the drug does not affect oral contraceptives containing ethinylestradiol or norethindrone.
Reduction of the bioavailability of the active substance is observed with the simultaneous administration of funds for the treatment of heartburn and acid-dependent gastrointestinal diseases. In this case, it is better to take Gabatin 50 50 hours after taking antacid preparations.
