Febrofid is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent used locally.

Indications Febrofeed

Febrofid is indicated for local anesthesia, as well as anti-inflammatory action for pain in the spine, neuralgia, myalgia, inflammatory-degenerative processes in the musculoskeletal system, arthritis, bursitis, synovitis, tendinitis, lumbago. It is also good to use the drug for the treatment of problems caused by sports injuries, sprains or ruptures of ligaments and tendons, dislocations, bruises, and especially, with post-traumatic pain.

Release form

The drug Febrofid is produced in the form of a gel, which is colorless or light yellowish, transparent consistency. The drug is packaged in aluminum tubes of thirty or fifty grams of gel each and packed in a cardboard box supplied with an instruction leaflet. One hundred grams of gel contains ketoprofen lysine salt - two and a half grams, as well as a certain amount of excipients - polyethylene glycol, methyl hydroxyenzoate, propyl hydroxybenzoate, carbomer, triethanolamine, purified water.

Pharmacodynamics

Febrofid is an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent used locally. The gel has a therapeutic effect on joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, veins, lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. At the same time, pain sensations are reduced, and the mobility of limbs at rest and in motion is increased. Morning stiffness and joint swelling are also reduced.

Pharmacokinetics

Febrofid has good penetration properties through the skin. The percentage of bioavailability of the drug is about fifty. The absorbed amount of the active component is capable of binding to serum proteins in almost one hundred percent of cases. Ketoprofen is metabolized in the liver. Approximately eighty percent of the used amount of the active substance is capable of being excreted in the urine in the form of metabolites, about ten percent of the substance remains unchanged and is excreted in the same form. It does not have the ability to accumulate in the body.

Dosing and administration

Febrofid is an external treatment. Three to five centimeters of gel is applied to the desired area of skin and rubbed in with light movements. This procedure should be repeated two to three times a day. There is no need to apply a bandage, since this will not increase the effectiveness of the drug. The course of treatment is determined by a specialist.

Use Febrofeed during pregnancy

The drug Febrofid is contraindicated for use in the third trimester of pregnancy. In the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the drug should be used only if absolutely necessary. During lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued for the duration of treatment with the drug.

Contraindications

  • The presence of hypersensitivity to ketoprofen or other substances that are part of the drug.
  • Existing sensitivity to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as to acetylsalicylic acid.
  • The presence of weeping dermatoses, eczema, infected abrasions, wounds and burns.

Side effects Febrofeed

  • Allergic reactions – itching and burning of the skin, redness and peeling, symptoms of hyperemia in the treated area.
  • The appearance of a photosensitivity reaction, as well as skin exanthema and purpura.

Interactions with other drugs

With prolonged use of the drug Febrofid, signs of interactions with other drugs may be observed. The same applies to cases of frequent use of the drug.

The simultaneous use of the drug and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs stimulates the appearance of gastric ulcers, as well as the development of bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract. Similar problems arise with the combined use of ethanol, corticotropin and glucocorticosteroids.

With the simultaneous administration of oral anticoagulants, heparin, thrombolytics, antiplatelet agents, cefoperazone, cefamandole, the risk of bleeding increases.

Antihypertensive drugs and diuretics reduce their effectiveness under the influence of the active substances of the medication.

Combined use leads to an increase in the hypoglycemic effect of insulin. Hypoglycemic drugs in combination with the drug have the same effect.

Sodium valproate, prescribed in combination with the drug, leads to a violation of platelet aggregation. An increase in such substances as verapamil and nifedipine is observed in the blood.

Storage conditions

Febrofid - it is important to store it at a temperature of fifteen to twenty-five degrees Celsius, in a place inaccessible to children.
