Fagotsef is administered intravenously, the drug is a powder for solutions. The drug is taken only as directed by the doctor in charge. As a rule, the drug is treated only in a hospital.

Indications Fagotsef

Indications for the use of phagecephus provide an opportunity to find out under what diseases the drug is prescribed. So, phageceph is used in infectious diseases, which are caused by microorganisms sensitive to the preparation.

The drug is prescribed for the treatment of the respiratory tract ( bronchitis, pneumonia, pleurisy ) and infectious diseases that affect these organs. Infectious lesions of the urinary tract ( urethritis, cystitis ) and kidneys ( pyelonephritis ). Also, diseases of the skin, joints, soft tissues, bones ( osteomyelitis ). Prevention of complications of infectious diseases that can occur after surgical operations on the gastrointestinal tract, with obstetric-gynecological operations and operations of a urological nature. Diseases caused by infection in the central nervous system ( meningitis ), peritonitis and infections of the abdominal cavity.

Release form

The form of the drug is powder for injections. The drug is released in vials of 1000 mg. The drug is available in cardboard packages of 10 bottles per package. When using the drug, dilute with saline according to the dosage, which is prescribed by the attending physician.

The main physico-chemical properties of the drug - the powder should be yellowish or white. When using the drug, special attention should be paid to the drug, which will dilute the drug powder. Please note that the drug is categorically forbidden to use with drugs such as aminoglycoside, in a single dropper or syringe.

Pharmacodynamics Fagotsef isolates the drug as a semisynthetic antibiotic of cephalosporin type for parenteral use. The drug acts bactericidal and has a wide spectrum of action. The drug has, affects such infections as:

  • Streptococci - penicillinase-forming and penicillinase-forming strains.
  • Bacillus subtilis i mycoides.
  • Neisseria meningitidis.
  • Proteus (indolpositive and indolotricative species).
  • Salmonella.
  • Haemophilus influenzae and parainfluenzae (penicillinase-forming and penicillinase-forming strains, including those resistant to ampicillin).
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Pharmacokinetics Fagotsef allows you to know the specific behavior of the drug in the body. That is, the metabolism of the drug, its absorption and the period of excretion and distribution. After use, the drug is absorbed by the body for five minutes. So, with a single injection of the ampoule of the drug in 1000 mg, the concentration of the drug in the blood reaches 100 μg / ml. Bactericidal concentration of the drug in the blood is kept for twelve hours.

70% of the drug is excreted in the urine. The remaining part of the drug leaves the body with bile and in the form of metabolites. On average, the half-life of the drug does not exceed one hour. If the drug is prescribed to elderly patients or patients with renal insufficiency, then the time of elimination of the drug is doubled. The drug can also be administered to newborns, in this case, the elimination time reaches 1.5 hours, and for newborn babies, this time reaches 6.5 hours.

Use Fagotsef during pregnancy

The use of phageceph when pregnant is possible only according to vital signs and the appointment of a doctor. Safety of use of the drug during pregnancy is not established, that is, the use of the drug may lead to miscarriage or pathologies of the baby's future. The drug is not recommended for use in the lactation period, since phagocetaph in low concentrations is excreted through breast milk.

Fagotsef is used to treat newborns and premature infants. That is, it can be used for babies intravenously, starting from the first days of life. Note that with intramuscular injection of the drug with a 1% solution of lidocaine categorically contraindicated for children who have not reached the age of three.

The main contraindications to the use of phageceph preparations are based on individual intolerance of the drug. Let's consider the main contraindications to the use of the drug.

  • Hypersensitivity and individual intolerance of cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • Individual lidocaine intolerance.
  • Breastfeeding and pregnancy.
  • Kidney diseases (prescribe with great care, strictly controlling the dose of the drug).

Side effects Fagotsef

Side effects of phagocete drug manifest themselves in the form of general reactions of the body, which have a negative effect on the body. The main side effects with phageceph:

  • Digestive system - nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting, pseudomembranous colitis.
  • Neuropleenia, eosinophilia, hemolytic anemia.
  • Cardiovascular system - an arrhythmia (can arise at fast introduction of a preparation).
  • Genitourinary system - a violation of kidney function, interstitial nephritis, increased level of creatinine.
  • The central nervous system is encephalopathy (occurs in patients with renal insufficiency or with the administration of very high doses of the drug).
  • Anaphylactic reactions of the body - general weakness, anaphylactic shock, bronchospasm, angioedema.
  • Skin reactions of the body - dermatitis, redness, rashes, urticaria, toxic skin necrosis, erythema multiforme, inflammation at the injection site.

Dosing and administration

The method of administration and dose of the drug is prescribed by the doctor and depends on which infectious disease is to be treated. Before starting treatment, you need to check the body's response to the drug. Thus, all patients who are prescribed phagocetus, undergo a skin test for sensitivity to lidocaine. The drug is administered intravenously or intramuscularly. Typically, for an average dose of the drug, 1000 mg of phagecepha and 4 ml of sterile water for injection are dissolved. The drug is administered with a syringe or a dropper is made for 3-6 minutes.

  • For children - for children up to 7 days of life, a drug of 50 mg / kg of body weight is administered, every 12 hours. For newborns, one month old, the drug is administered at 50 mg per kg of body weight every 8 hours. For children from one year to 12 years weighing less than 50 kg, the drug is prescribed in a dose of 50 to 180 mg / kg. The exact dose depends on the disease. The drug is administered throughout the day, the number of injections can be from 4 to 6. The maximum dose of the drug should not exceed 12 g, that is 200 mg per kg per day.
  • For adults, the drug is taken every 12 hours to 102 g. The main condition for taking the drug is uncomplicated infectious diseases. If the patient has a moderate disease, then the drug is used every 8 hours, and the dose of the drug is 1-2 g. In case of serious infections of an infectious nature, the phagocaff is taken up to four times a day with a dose of 2 g. Note that the maximum dose of the drug in day is 8 g.

Overdosing with the drug causes a number of complications and quite unpleasant reactions of the body. The most common diagnosis, which is put with an overdose of phageceph - reversible encephalopathy. Antidote, which would protect the body from an overdose, does not exist, in this case, symptomatic therapy is used. Hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis with an overdose have no effectiveness.

Interactions with other drugs

The interaction of phageceph with other drugs is possible with complex treatment. If the patient is treated concomitantly with severe diuretics, aminoglycosides or polymyxin, the risk of developing reversible renal failure is increased.

When the body is treated with phagocyte and cefotaxime, solutions of aminoglycosides should not be used. Drugs must be taken separately. With the simultaneous administration of nifedipine and phagecep, the bioavailability of the drug increases by approximately 70%. Probenecid promotes blockage of the tubular secretion of phagecepha and increases the half-life of the drug.

Storage conditions

The storage conditions of Fagotsef fully correspond to the storage conditions of a number of other anti-infective drugs. The drug should be stored at a temperature of 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. The drug should be protected from direct sunlight and stored in a dark place.

Particular attention when storing the drug is given protection from children and sunlight. The drug solution can be stored no longer than 24 hours, at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

Shelf life

Date of production of the phagecephalus. After the expiry date, the drug must be disposed of. Phageceph is strictly forbidden to use after the expiry date. Since the overdue, spoiled preparation will only aggravate the disease and cause a number of reversible reactions of the body (high fever, fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions to the skin).
