Essentiale is a medicinal product, the main effect of which is to normalize the metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids in the body. The drug is prescribed to improve liver function, cardiovascular system, metabolic processes. But many dermatologists use Essentiale in psoriasis, especially when the disease is severe or generalized.
Essentiale for psoriasis can be used, both in ampoules in the form of injections, and in capsules for internal use. The most effective treatment scheme involves injecting the drug for several months, and only after that the patient goes on taking the capsules. Treatment is long, but often allows you to extend the period of remission for several months.
Does Essentiale help in psoriasis?
Success in the treatment of psoriasis is in no small measure depending on how much the liver performs its cleansing function. This is the basis for the use of Essentiale in psoriasis.
In patients suffering from psoriasis, violations of liver function may manifest as signs such as cholestasis, cytolysis, hepatocyte insufficiency and immune inflammation. Essentiale protects the liver from such disorders: the preparation contains important for the body vitamins and phospholipids:
- riboflavin - lactoflavin, vitamin B2;
- thiamine - vitamin B1;
- cyanocobalamin - vitamin B12;
- pyridoxine - vitamin B6;
- α-tocopherol acetate - vitamin E;
- nicotinamide - nicotinic acid, vitamin PP.
Essentiale for psoriasis can be used in such medicinal forms:
- capsules containing 0.3 g of phospholipids;
- ampoules with liquid (5 ml) containing 0.25 g of phospholipids.
To dilute the contents of the ampoules before the injection, electrolyte solutions are not used: the drug is diluted with the blood of the patient to be injected with the drug (1: 1). The best effect is seen from the use of Essentiale in combination with photochemotherapy (or phototherapy).
Indications Essentiale for psoriasis
It is generally accepted that Essentiale is a drug for the normalization of liver function. But this is not quite true: the medicine is successfully used as part of a comprehensive treatment of such diseases as:
- cirrhosis and fatty liver;
- inflammation of liver tissue;
- hepatic intoxication;
- toxicosis in pregnant women;
- period before and after surgery;
- radiation damage;
- dermatitis;
- psoriasis.
Pharmacodynamics
The active composition of the drug is the EPL-substance - a highly purified fraction of phosphatidylcholine. The main active ingredient representing this fraction is dilinoleoylphosphatidylcholine.
EPL-substance is considered the defining structural component of cell walls and organelles. Without it, it is impossible to imagine differentiation, division and restoration of cellular structures.
Essentiale in psoriasis improves the function of cell walls, intracellular respiration, oxidation reactions, affects the binding of enzymes of intracellular respiration inside the mitochondria and energy cellular metabolism.
Dosing and administration
If the doctor does not prescribe otherwise, then there are two generally accepted schemes for the treatment of psoriasis with Essenciale:
- The course of therapy begins with taking 2 capsules of Essentiale three times a day, for 14 days. After this, they switch to the injection of the drug: 10 IV infusions of 5 ml of the drug, in combination with phototherapy. Capsules and injections alternate, with a total duration of treatment of 2 months.
- The course of therapy begins with a 10 day IV infusion of the drug, with a frequency of once a day. Next 14 days take Essentiale capsules, 2 pcs. Each. Three times a day. After that within two months pass on reception of capsules in a dosage on 2 pieces. In the morning and in the evening.
From the proposed schemes it can be seen that the treatment of psoriasis with Essenciale is usually prolonged. However, given the complexity of the disease and its resistance to cure, it is sometimes necessary to have patience and complete the proposed course. According to feedback, a positive result is almost guaranteed after the end of treatment.
Use Essentiale for psoriasis during pregnancy
Essential for the treatment of psoriasis can be used during pregnancy, unless the doctor decides otherwise.
Essentiale is often prescribed for toxicosis in pregnant women, to improve digestive processes and reduce the burden on the liver.
In the period of breastfeeding, Essentiale treatment is not recommended. In extreme cases, during treatment, breastfeeding is suspended and the child is transferred to the use of the mixture.
