Enterosgel is a gel-type enterosorbent. It has adsorbing and detoxifying activity.
The drug is a spatially formed matrix of organosilicon type, which creates pores filled with liquid. The established pore sizes help to form the selectivity of sorption. The drug absorbs and excretes from the body mainly toxic elements of medium molecular type.
Enterosgel has a hydrophobic effect, it does not stick to the mucous membranes, does not damage them, and does not penetrate into the tissues.
Indications Enterosgel
It is used as a detoxifying substance in the following cases:
- active and chronic forms of poisoning of various origins;
- active forms of intoxication with toxic and potent elements (this includes alkaloids, alcohol, medications, heavy metal salts);
- hyperazotemia (CRF);
- acute stages of intestinal infections of any origin, in combination treatment (for example, dysentery, toxic infections, dysbacteriosis, salmonellosis and diarrhea of non-infectious etiology);
- pathologies of the purulent-septic type, against the background of which severe poisoning is observed (in combination therapy);
- allergy to medications or food;
- hyperbilirubinemia (viral form of hepatitis).
It is also prescribed to prevent chronic poisoning in people working in hazardous industries (occupational poisoning with xenobiotics, arsenic, lead, mercury compounds, incorporated radionuclides, polytropic synthetic agents, as well as carbon or nitrogen oxides, petroleum products, heavy metal salts, organic solvents and fluorides).
Release form
The drug is released in the form of an oral paste, inside a package of 100 or 225 g.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug demonstrates a pronounced detoxifying and sorption effect. Inside the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract, it synthesizes and excretes external and internal toxic elements of various origins (including antigens, drugs and poisons, alcohol, bacteria and bacterial toxins, heavy metal salts, food allergens).
Enterosgel absorbs individual metabolites of the body, including excess bilirubin, cholesterol, lipid complexes and urea, as well as decay products responsible for the development of internal toxicosis.
The medicine does not weaken the absorption of microelements with vitamins, helps to restore the disturbed intestinal microflora and does not change the motor ability of the intestine.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Excretion of unchanged substance occurs within 12 hours.
Dosing and administration
The medicine should be taken orally, 1-2 hours before meals or other medications, with water (you can also dilute a portion of the paste in 0.5 glass of water).
Adults take the drug in a dose of 22.5 g (1.5 tablespoons), 3 times a day (total daily dose 67.5 g). For a child aged 5-14 years, the dosage is 15 g (1 tablespoon), 3 times a day (total daily dose - 45 g). For a child under 5 years old - 7.5 g (0.5 tablespoon), 3 times a day (total daily dose - 22.5 g).
For infants, 2.5 g (0.5 teaspoon) is prescribed, which is mixed with mother's milk or water (3 times the volume). The medicine should be given before each feeding procedure (6 times a day).
To prevent chronic poisoning, take 22.5 g (1.5 tablespoons), 2 times a day, for a period of 7-10 days, every month.
In case of acute diarrhea: for an adult, the initial portion is 45 g (3 tablespoons), for a child over 5 years old - 22.5 g (1.5 tablespoons). Then take 1.5 tablespoons after each bowel movement, if the stool is loose. For a child under 5 years old - first 15 g (1 tablespoon), and then 7.5 g (1.5 teaspoons) after each bowel movement, if the stool is loose.
When the diarrhea stops, you need to take the medicine in standard doses for another 5 days.
If severe poisoning is observed, the dosage can be doubled during the first 3 days.
The duration of therapy for acute intoxication is 3-5 days; in case of allergy or chronic poisoning - 2-3 weeks. A doctor may prescribe a repeat cycle.
