It is used for combined treatment of acute respiratory viral infections or influenza, as well as diseases against which a high temperature is observed: bronchitis, tonsillitis, pharyngo-laryngitis, and inflammation in the upper part of the respiratory ducts.

Detoxopyrene blocks the process of incorporating the virus into the host cell, thereby preventing the release of the genome of the virus within it.

It also has prophylactic activity against influenza infection provoked by viruses from the RNA-containing group, and besides this, it shows an antitoxic effect in the flu. Antiviral properties are demonstrated in relation to viruses of normal herpes (1 and 2), as well as herpes zoster. The drug inhibits the replication of the RNA virus, which helps prevent viral reproduction and lead to regression of herpetic rash.
