Sometimes, when you have a severe toothache, it is not possible to immediately see a dentist (holidays or weekends, night time, etc.) and in this situation, dental pain pills will help, which significantly reduce the intensity of pain, and in some cases completely eliminate it.
However, it is worth remembering that medications are a temporary aid until you can visit a dentist. Without qualified help, dentalgia can return at any time, inflammation can intensify, suppuration can occur, in which case painkillers will become ineffective.
In addition, all painkillers affect not only the affected area, but also other internal organs. Therefore, experts recommend not to use pills for mild pain, but to try to reduce the discomfort with rinses, compresses, etc.
Instructions for toothache tablets
You should not take painkillers before visiting the dentist, as this can complicate diagnosis and reduce the effect of anesthesia.
Indications for use
Toothache tablets are used in case of severe pain.
Pharmacodynamics
Tablets for toothache have an analgesic effect. Some drugs also have an anti-inflammatory or antipyretic effect. The drugs usually dissolve well, are quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, which makes them convenient in cases where a quick analgesic effect is required.
Pharmacokinetics
Tablets for toothache after taking are usually well absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract. Also, the active substances of the drugs can penetrate into breast milk, penetrate the placental barrier.
It is usually excreted from the body by the kidneys, so patients with renal insufficiency should use painkillers with caution.
Use during pregnancy
Tablets for toothache during pregnancy are used with caution. Any medicines during this period should be used with caution, after consultation with a doctor. Some painkillers are completely contraindicated for pregnant women, some drugs are not recommended for use in the first three months of pregnancy. Almost all painkillers penetrate the placental barrier, into breast milk, so doctors recommend that pregnant women, if possible, refuse tablets and use rinsing, compresses, etc.
Contraindications for use
Tablets for toothache are contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions, renal or hepatic insufficiency, etc. Before using any painkiller, you must read the instructions.

Side effects
Tablets for toothache can provoke allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock), kidney dysfunction. Before using painkillers, it is recommended to read the instructions. If any reactions of the body to the drug (including those not specified in the instructions) occur, it is necessary to stop taking the tablets and consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Method of administration and dosage
Tablets for toothache are taken depending on the concentration of the active substance in one tablet. Basically, the drugs are taken one tablet two to six times a day.
[ 4 ]
Overdose
Toothache tablets in high doses can cause increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, nausea, shortness of breath, drowsiness, renal or hepatic failure, confusion, respiratory paralysis, convulsions. If overdose symptoms occur, stop taking the drug and seek immediate medical attention. In case of drug overdose, it is recommended to take sorbents (activated carbon, enterosgel, etc.), saline solutions, laxatives, gastric lavage, blood purification, etc.
Interactions with other drugs
Oral contraceptives, tricyclic antidepressants, and allopurinol affect the metabolic processes of metamizole in the liver and increase its toxic properties.
Painkillers should be taken as prescribed by a doctor. It is necessary to inform the dentist about taking any other medications (even dietary supplements) to avoid unwanted effects. If it is not possible to consult a doctor, but you need to take pills for toothache urgently, you should carefully read the instructions for the drug.
Storage conditions
Tablets for toothache should be kept out of reach of children. The preparations should be protected from light, stored at a temperature not exceeding 250C

Painkiller tablets for toothache
Almost everyone has used painkillers for toothache, although almost everyone knows that pain relief does not help solve the problem with a sore tooth, it is only a temporary measure that helps improve the condition until you can see a dentist.
Painkillers can be divided into two groups: local anesthesia (lidocaine, procaine, etc.) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
The most common painkiller is actasulide. This drug also has an anti-inflammatory effect. Actasulide is not recommended for kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, ulcers, and for children under 12 years of age.
Ketanov is also a common painkiller that contains ketorolac. This drug is not recommended for bronchial asthma, pregnant women, children under 16 years of age.
Ibuprofen has good pain-relieving properties. This drug should not be used during breastfeeding, in case of colitis and poor blood clotting.
For mild pain, you can take askofen, which is an affordable and inexpensive drug. Askofen is not used during pregnancy, at the age of up to 14 years, for gastrointestinal diseases.
No-shpa has a good pain-relieving effect, which is used not only for dentalgia, but also for many other types of pain. No-shpa is contraindicated in cardiac, renal, hepatic insufficiency, at the age under 6 years.
Anti-inflammatory tablets for toothache
Anti-inflammatory tablets for toothache will help to alleviate the condition, relieve painful symptoms of inflammation. It should also be remembered that the problem of dentalgia cannot be solved only with tablets, since dentistry is the only branch of medicine where drug treatment is not used for treatment. Any tablets will help to relieve pain only for a while, but a repeated exacerbation will not be avoided sooner or later.
Anti-inflammatory drugs that help relieve dentalgia include Ketorol, Aspirin, Brufen, Ketanov, Nise, Actasulide, etc.
Freezing tablets for toothache
The modern pharmaceutical market offers a large number of drugs that help cope with dentalgia. Among all painkillers, freezing gels are considered the most effective. Freezing drugs are especially used by people who prefer to take toothache pills only as a last resort.
Kamistad, which contains lidocaine hydrochloride, is considered the most effective. However, it has contraindications (high blood pressure, renal and hepatic insufficiency, pregnancy and breastfeeding), but despite this, Kamistad is recommended for both adults and children.
Dentol also has good pain-relieving properties and can be used not only by adults, but also by small children during teething.
Freezing gel Metrogyl Denta is an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving agent. This drug helps well with inflammation and pain in teeth and is prescribed for periodontosis, stomatitis, periodontitis, etc.
Tablets for toothache for children
Toothache in children causes a lot of inconvenience, not only to the child, but also to the parents who try their best to help the baby. However, many children flatly refuse to visit the dentist and open their mouths during severe pain. Usually, before going to the dentist, parents try to relieve the pain of the inflamed tooth, but not all medications can be used in childhood.
Often, pain can be relieved by folk remedies. If the child has normal tolerance to herbs, no allergies, then you can use herbal infusions to rinse the sore tooth. But if folk methods do not bring relief to the child, you can use painkillers. In this case, the main thing to remember is that not every "adult" drug is suitable for children. In childhood, drugs containing ibuprofen or paracetamol are mainly used. Tablets for toothache, rectal suppositories, syrups, suspensions - among a wide variety of special children's painkillers, you can find the most convenient form for taking. The maximum daily dose of paracetamol should not exceed 2 g (it is recommended to divide the dose into several doses). For very young children (infants), the most convenient form is rectal suppositories.
In terms of pain-relieving effect, paracetamol is superior to ibuprofen, which is prescribed only in cases of individual intolerance to paracetamol.
