Dasikon belongs to the fluoroquinolone group of antibacterial drugs. The antimicrobial drug is used systemically in infectious and inflammatory processes.

Indications Dasikon

Dasikon is prescribed for infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by bacteria susceptible to gatifloxacin (cystitis, cervical gonorrhea, chronic bronchitis, bacterial sinusitis, genitourinary infections, etc.).

Release form

Dacicon is available as a solution for intravenous administration.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of Dacicon is gatifloxacin, which is active against many gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. The antimicrobial action of the drug is due to the inhibition of topoisomerase IV and DNA-gerase.

Laboratory tests in a test tube have shown that the drug is destructive to a large number of microorganisms, including enterobacteria, morgan bacteria, klebsiella, citrobacter, pseudomonas aeruginosa, salmonella, yersinia enterocolitis, campylobacter, gonorrhea, most staphylococci, etc.

Dacicon is not effective against bacteroides, clostridia, fusobacteria.

Pharmacokinetics

The bioavailability of Dacicon is 96%, with the maximum concentration in the blood reached on average one to two hours after administration of the drug.

The antibiotic binds 20% to blood proteins and is distributed throughout all tissues and fluids in the body.

Excretion occurs unchanged by the kidneys (about 70%) within two days, about 5% is excreted in feces. The average half-life is 8-14 hours regardless of dosage.

Dosing and administration

The medicine is prescribed by the doctor taking into account the disease.

Usually prescribed at 400 mg per day, duration of treatment is 1 – 2 weeks.

For uncomplicated infections, the drug is prescribed once (400 mg), further use is determined by the doctor. For endocervical and rectal gonorrhea in women, gonorrhea in men, Dasikon is administered once (400 mg).

The drug is administered once a day; for patients who are prescribed artificial blood purification and whose blood purification rate is reduced, dose adjustment is recommended.

Use Dasikon during pregnancy

The medicine is prescribed to pregnant women only in cases of extreme necessity.

Contraindications

Dasikon is not used in cases of increased susceptibility of the body to fluoroquinolone antibiotics, during pregnancy, in patients under 15 years of age, or in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Side effects Dasikon

Dasikone, as clinical trials have shown, is well tolerated by patients. In some cases, nausea, bowel disorder, dizziness, headaches, and inflammatory processes in the vaginal mucosa occurred.

Overdose

There have been no cases of Dasikon overdose. In case of overdose symptoms (vomiting, weakness, dizziness, etc.), symptomatic therapy is indicated, and a sufficient level of water-salt balance should be maintained in the body.

Artificial blood purification is ineffective.

Interactions with other drugs

Dacicon in combination with quinolone group drugs increases the level of theophylline in the blood, which can cause a number of side effects. When used simultaneously with probenecid, the entry of gatifloxacin into the systemic bloodstream increases.

Dasikon enhances the effect of drugs that cause blood clotting.

Storage conditions

The medicine should be stored in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight. The medicine should be kept away from small children.

When frozen, the therapeutic effect of the drug is lost.

Shelf life

Dasikon is valid for two years from the date of manufacture. The medicine cannot be used after the expiration date or if storage conditions are violated.
