Pharmacokinetics

Dalfusin is well absorbed in the digestive tract. The active substance reaches its maximum value in the blood after an average of three hours.

About 90% of the drug binds to blood proteins. The half-life from the body is about 8 hours, 11% of the active substance (alfuzoschina) is excreted by the kidneys, the breakdown occurs mainly in the liver, most of the drug is excreted in the feces in the form of inactive metabolites.

In old age, higher concentrations of the active substance in the blood plasma and bioavailability of the drug are observed, the half-life remains the same.

In case of renal failure, the indicators of active substance excretion from the body and the volume of distribution increase. In severe forms of renal failure, the drug does not accumulate in the body due to increased biotransformation.

Dosing and administration

Dalfusin is prescribed to adult patients at 5 mg (1 tablet) twice a day. The medication should be taken after meals, it is not recommended to chew or break the tablets. It is best to start treatment with an evening dose.

In old age, with renal failure, when taking drugs to increase blood pressure, 5 mg is prescribed in the evening (if necessary, the doctor can increase the dosage to two tablets per day).

It is not recommended to take more than 10 mg of the drug per day.
