Indications Dalacin vaginal cream
Dalacin vaginal cream is prescribed for bacterial vaginosis (disruption of vaginal microflora).
[ 4 ]
Release form
Dalacin vaginal cream is available as a cream for insertion into the vagina. The cream contains 20 mg of the active ingredient clindamycin.
The drug is supplied in two versions: a tube with cream in a cardboard package of 20g and 40g, the kit includes a special applicator for more convenient insertion of the drug into the vagina.

Pharmacodynamics
Dalacin vaginal cream is used locally. The active substance (clindaicin) prevents protein synthesis in bacteria, suppresses the proliferation of pathogenic flora in the vagina, and destroys some types of bacteria.
In vitro studies3278 have shown that Gardnerella vaginalis, mobiluncus, mycoplasma hominis, peptostreptococci, and bacteroides are sensitive to clindamycin.
Pharmacokinetics
Dalacin vaginal cream is inserted into the vagina once a day for a week (dosage 100 mg). The maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood plasma is reached on average after ten hours. The drug is absorbed into the systemic bloodstream by about 5%.
The systemic effect of the cream is less pronounced, in contrast to intravenous administration of the drug or taking tablets.
The half-life of the drug is on average two hours, and accumulation of the drug in the body practically does not occur.

Dosing and administration
Dalacin vaginal cream is administered once a day, the course of treatment is determined by the doctor depending on the severity of the condition. Usually the drug is prescribed for a course of three or seven days.
The cream package includes special 5g dosing caps (single dose for administration) that simplify the process of administering the preparation into the vagina. It is better to administer the preparation at night.
To fill the dosing cap with cream, screw it onto the tube and carefully squeeze the cream into the cap (when the piston reaches the stop, the cap is completely full). After that, carefully unscrew the cap and, lying on your back with your legs pulled up to your chest, insert the dosing cap as deep into the vagina as possible (the manipulations should not cause pain or other unpleasant sensations). Slowly pressing the piston, squeeze the cream into the vagina and carefully remove the dosing cap. After use, the cap must be thrown away.
Use Dalacin vaginal cream during pregnancy
There are no studies aimed at studying the effect of Dalacin vaginal cream on pregnant women. The cream is prescribed in the first three months of pregnancy only in cases of extreme necessity.
Use of the drug in the second and third trimesters did not show a significant effect on the fetus, but there is no official data on the safety of using the drug during this period.
There is no information on the passage of clandamycin into breast milk after vaginal administration (the active substance penetrates into breast milk after taking tablets or intravenous/intramuscular administration).
Contraindications
Dalacin vaginal cream is not used in cases of hypersensitivity to clindamycin or lincomycin, as well as to any other components of the drug.
