Angina is an acute infectious disease that is accompanied by inflammation of the tonsils. Therefore, the disease is often called acute tonsillitis, that is, inflammation of the tonsils. It has a systemic effect on the body, often causing an increase in temperature, severe pain in the throat, and intoxication of the body. An unpleasant concomitant pathology of angina is a severe cough. Coughing during and after angina significantly complicates the disease, delays the recovery process, and negatively affects the general condition of a person and the quality of life.

Tonsillitis is quite common. Many people suffer from it, regardless of age, gender, race. It is transmitted by airborne droplets, which determines the high prevalence rate. The danger of tonsillitis is that it can lead to serious complications that affect vital organs. Even if tonsillitis is mild, with relatively normal health, it is important to stay in bed. Many people suffer from tonsillitis on their feet, because they do not even notice the symptoms, but then complications appear that primarily affect the kidneys and heart.

The most severe manifestations of angina in children. They may develop high fever, severe cough, even suffocation. All this is accompanied by pain in the muscles and joints. There is a sore throat, especially when swallowing, the child often refuses to eat, which only worsens the condition and the disease progresses. In addition, after recovery, a suffocating cough persists for a long time, which is practically untreatable. It intensifies at night. In children, a common complication of angina is rheumatism, arthritis, and other joint lesions.

Is there a cough with tonsillitis?

Angina can occur with or without a cough - this is the main thing that a patient needs to know and remember. In the absence of a cough, the main thing is to see a doctor in time and promptly diagnose the pathology in order to take the necessary measures for treatment and stay in bed to avoid complications.

Doctors' opinions are seriously divided on the source of cough. Some doctors support the theory that cough is a faithful companion of angina. They consider cough to be a primary pathology that occurs in response to severe inflammation of the throat and tonsils. Cough is a natural protective mechanism of the body that indicates pathology of the nasopharynx, pharynx, respiratory tract and occurs reflexively when the mucous membrane is irritated. Cough can be caused by severe inflammation, in which the mucous membrane is subject to hyperemia and swelling. Also, mucus, a liquid that irritates the throat receptors and causes coughing, is formed in the respiratory tract. With the help of coughing, all foreign and alien agents are expelled from the body.

Other doctors support the theory that cough is a secondary pathology that occurs when concomitant diseases of bacterial, viral, and even fungal origin are added. Doctors often consider cough as a complication of tonsillitis, in which inflammation from the tonsils spreads to other organs, affects the entire nasopharynx and pharynx, and sometimes even the bronchi. Cough can also indicate the presence of a secondary disease that developed as a result of bacterial and viral infections against the background of reduced immunity. It often happens that a painful cough occurs after tonsillitis has been cured. Therefore, it is too early to talk about recovery only after getting rid of the symptoms of tonsillitis.

Despite the disagreements about the origin and mechanism of cough development, all doctors agree that cough must be treated. Also, all doctors believe that with angina, it is necessary to stay in bed, regardless of whether it occurs with a cough or without it. In many cases, cough appears if bed rest was not observed during angina in the initial stages of the disease. You should also take sick leave and refrain from visiting public places, which will prevent infection of other people. Since both angina and cough are transmitted by airborne droplets.

Epidemiology

Tonsillitis occurs in 100% of the population. Everyone has had tonsillitis at least once in their life. People get sick regardless of age or gender. Complications occur in 30% of cases during treatment and bed rest. If bed rest is not observed, complications occur in 100% of cases.

Causes sore throat cough

The cause of the development of angina is an infection. It can be either a bacterial or a viral infection. Against the background of the infectious process, inflammation of the tonsils develops, which triggers the main symptoms of the disease.

A viral disease is most often indicated by a runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, watery eyes and headache. A runny nose becomes the cause of coughing, since mucus is formed during a runny nose, which is separated, flows along the mucous membrane, irritates it, which provokes a cough as a natural defense mechanism. A chain of protective reflexes occurs, which are aimed at removing this mucus. In this case, you need to treat the runny nose, otherwise the cough will continue until the mucus stops flowing.

In some cases, cough may occur as a result of inflammation of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat (pharyngitis), which also irritates the receptors and provokes cough. In this case, it is important to determine what exactly is causing the inflammation - a virus or bacteria. The further treatment regimen depends on this. In case of viral pharyngitis, it is necessary to treat with antiviral drugs, in case of bacterial pharyngitis, it is necessary to use antibiotics.

Sometimes the cause of coughing can be a strong spasm or an allergic reaction. The cause of coughing can be the accumulation of phlegm and mucus in the bronchi. In this case, we are talking about concomitant bronchitis, which is often a complication of tonsillitis.

Risk factors

The risk of developing tonsillitis increases significantly with reduced immunity, prolonged contact with an infectious patient, and staying in public places during an epidemic of respiratory diseases. Most often, the disease occurs in late autumn and winter, when optimal conditions for the development of bacteria and viruses arise. In addition, the body is weakened at this time, hypothermia, rainy weather, and vitamin deficiency have an effect.

The risk of developing the disease develops with high contamination of the body with bacterial microflora: when there are active or latent infectious processes in the body, such as caries, periodontal disease, pyelonephritis, or various chronic diseases of the throat and nasopharynx. If tonsillitis or another disease has become chronic, or has not been completely cured, a person quickly becomes infected again.

The development of tonsillitis can also be indirectly affected by the structure of the nose and palate: the risk increases in the presence of structural anomalies and traumatic injuries. If a person breathes through the mouth rather than the nose, this also increases the risk, since the nose contains special villi and mucus that filter and clean the inhaled air. There are no such villi in the oral cavity, so the air enters directly into the throat, passes through the tonsils, where pathogenic microflora settles, which inevitably gets in with the air.

Pathogenesis

The pathogenesis is based on the defeat of the palatine tonsils. They are a protective organ on the way of infection. They consist of a large number of lymphocytes. When infection accumulates, tissue inflammation occurs, and other lymphocytes are additionally involved in the fight against infection. This causes swelling, hyperemia, and a strong inflammatory process.

Symptoms sore throat cough

Cough with angina most often appears against the background of other symptoms that are characteristic of this disease and are assessed in a complex. Cough can be mild, or it can be suffocating, debilitating. Often, the cough is dry, unproductive, in which there is no coughing. But there are cases when a wet cough occurs, with intense formation of sputum. Cough can be accompanied by spasm, an asthmatic component. It is possible to identify angina and cough only taking into account the clinical picture as a whole.

The development of angina is indicated by a sharp deterioration in health, weakness, increased fatigue. It may be difficult to walk, the heartbeat quickens, shortness of breath appears. After some time, a sharp pain in the throat begins, which intensifies every day. If the inflammation is transmitted to the vocal cords, hoarseness of the voice may appear, or the voice disappears completely. The pain intensifies when swallowing, in the evening. During examination, one can detect severe redness of the throat, a white coating appears on the palate and tongue. The tonsils are clearly visible, protruding in the lumen of the throat and becoming red and swollen. The body temperature rises sharply, chills, fever occur, which is accompanied by muscle pain, a feeling of aching in the joints. The kidney area may hurt. A headache occurs. Lymph nodes are palpated on the front surface of the neck and pulsating vessels are noticeable. The neck and larynx swell. Later, a strong cough may appear, which can be either dry or wet.

This is a general picture of angina. But it is necessary to take into account that it can also manifest itself in an unusual form, in which there is no temperature or cough. There is a strong pain in the throat, and sometimes this is the only sign of angina. Many people at the same time maintain quite good health, do not feel a loss of strength, weakness. Because of this, angina is often carried on the legs, which is unacceptable, since in all known cases it ended in serious complications.

The first signs are the appearance of a sharp pain in the throat, weakness, increased fatigue. Sometimes there may be chest pain and shortness of breath, especially when walking, running and other types of physical activity. Gradually, a cough joins in, which can be of different nature. Sometimes there is a dry cough, in which sputum does not come out, sometimes there may be a wet cough with intense sputum. The cough may intensify in the evening, does not go away for a long time. Medicines usually do not help.

The cough turned into a sore throat

Coughing can easily provoke the development of tonsillitis. It often happens that a person develops a mild cough, a common sore throat due to allergies or exposure to external environmental factors. If cough treatment is neglected, it can develop into a persistent, chronic form or cause inflammation of the respiratory tract.

This is due to the fact that the mucous membrane is constantly irritated, the immune system reacts by synthesizing antibodies to eliminate the foreign agent that causes irritation. Macrophages and lymphocytes arrive at this site and begin to attack the changed cells and irritating factors. As a result, inflammation develops. Gradually, bacterial flora accumulates at the site of inflammation, as a result of which the inflammatory process only intensifies. A virus may join in, against the background of reduced immunity and a weakened body. This entails severe inflammation of the tonsils, which also join in the fight against infection. Tonsillitis develops.

Dry cough with sore throat

A dry cough can occur with tonsillitis. It can occur in absolutely different cases. Such a cough is unproductive, does not cause the formation of sputum. A person cannot cough up, there is no relief after coughing, and the condition only worsens. Such a cough can sometimes simply knock a person out: sputum is not separated, there is no discharge, and the cough does not go away. Attacks can be spontaneous, and it is impossible to cope with them. Such a cough puts you in an awkward position at work, during business meetings and negotiations, in transport. Often the process is accompanied by lacrimation, pain in the eyes and muscles. Such a cough may indicate the addition of a viral infection. But it is often not so easy to determine its causes. A long-term examination and constant monitoring by a doctor are required. Such a cough usually does not go away for a long time, even after the tonsillitis is cured.

Severe cough with tonsillitis

With angina, a strong, suffocating cough may be observed. It can be either dry or wet. Attacks of suffocation and severe throat spasm may be observed. Sometimes the cough can be so strong that it is accompanied by a headache and even vomiting.

If such a cough occurs, you should immediately contact a doctor, since treatment can only be selected after proper diagnosis, and in most cases it depends on the test results. The main thing is to determine the cause of the cough. Treatment depends on the cause. Cough can accompany tonsillitis, or it can occur some time after recovery.

Sore throat without cough

You can't rely on a cough as the only sure sign of a sore throat. You need to know and understand that a sore throat can occur without a cough. Therefore, it is important to see a doctor in time, diagnose a sore throat and begin treatment before any complications arise.

Cough with purulent tonsillitis

Angina may be accompanied by the formation of purulent plugs. Usually in this case there is a strong cough and pain in the throat. The cough intensifies when swallowing. Sometimes a person is not even able to eat, only drinks water. The process is often accompanied by a strong cough, in which the pain not only intensifies, but also radiates to the ear, nose, and even the head. When coughing, purulent sputum of yellow or green color, or pieces of white plug, which have a sharp foul odor, may be released. The body temperature rises, intoxication of the body occurs. Treatment can be both conservative and surgical. Everything depends on the severity of the disease.

Cough with phlegm during tonsillitis

Angina may be accompanied by a cough called productive. It is popularly called wet. With such a cough, sputum is formed and separated. If the separation is insufficient, special expectorants are prescribed. The separation of sputum with such a cough helps to free the respiratory tract from mucus, epithelium, bacteria and other factors that increase inflammation. The appearance of such a cough is a good sign that indicates a speedy recovery.

Angina without cough and fever

Often, tonsillitis occurs without a cough and without a rise in temperature. Or the temperature rises slightly. This form is called catarrhal tonsillitis. Most often, it is accompanied by severe pain, excessive dryness of the mucous membranes. The pain is severe, radiating to the ear. It can often be complicated by ear inflammation - otitis. In this case, the lymph nodes can enlarge, the cervical lymphatic vessels can pulsate. Upon examination, inflammation and redness of the palatine tonsils are detected. This is the mildest form of tonsillitis, which, with proper treatment, can be cured in 3-5 days. But without treatment and failure to adhere to bed rest, serious complications can occur. First of all, these are complications in the kidneys and heart.

Barking cough with angina

Angina may be accompanied by a "barking", dry cough, which occurs as a result of irritation of the larynx walls. In this case, most often the cough is accompanied by a rough, hoarse voice. Most often, this type of cough is typical for small children. In order to choose the right treatment, it is necessary to determine the pathogen that provokes this cough. A smear is taken, based on the results of which the appropriate antibacterial therapy is selected, which will be sensitive to the identified pathogen. Such a cough can occur both during and after the illness. It is usually accompanied by a high temperature and a general deterioration in health.

Coughing up blood with tonsillitis

Coughing up blood with tonsillitis is rare. But such a phenomenon can be observed with a long, prolonged illness, as well as if a person has low blood clotting and a tendency to bleeding. Sometimes it can indicate other concomitant pathologies, such as intracellular parasites. Coughing up blood is often observed with tuberculosis, so it is important to conduct differential diagnostics with this disease.

Cough with herpetic sore throat

Herpes is a virus that affects the respiratory system and lymph. Signs of a herpes infection include fever, pain when swallowing, and a severe sore throat. Eyes may water, sneezing, and chills may occur. The lymph nodes and vessels in the neck become very inflamed, since the virus accumulates primarily in the lymphoid tissue. Treatment is antiviral.

Cough with follicular tonsillitis

The first sign of follicular tonsillitis is chills. Then the temperature rises, the head hurts badly, the whole body aches, the muscles twist. The lymph nodes hurt, especially the submandibular ones. After this, a sharp pain in the throat and cough may appear. Purulent plaque and accumulations form on the tonsils. The cough can be of different nature: from dry and unproductive to wet, which is easy to cough up. The disease is severe, but recovery occurs quite quickly - after 5-7 days.

After a sore throat, a cough appeared

Often a cough appears after a sore throat has already been cured. It can manifest itself immediately after recovery, or after some time. It is usually difficult to treat. After a sore throat, there is usually a dry cough, a sore throat or a burning sensation in the throat. If the cough is accompanied by a runny nose, then it is necessary to treat the runny nose. It is this that stimulates the cough. If the cause of the cough is unknown, it must be determined and etiological therapy must be prescribed, that is, treatment aimed at eliminating the cause of the disease. Usually, the appearance of such a cough is due to reduced immunity. It is imperative to treat it, since complications or a relapse of the disease may occur.

After a sore throat, a cough and fever appeared

Sometimes a cough combined with a high temperature may indicate the development of rheumatic fever, which occurs as a complication of angina. All this is accompanied by chest pain, shortness of breath, and rapid heartbeat. In this case, it is necessary to immediately conduct diagnostics, determine the cause of the disease and begin treatment as soon as possible. If a complication such as rheumatic fever has arisen, it is impossible to cure it, but if you begin treatment in a timely manner, you can prevent further progression of the disease and stop it in a mild or inactive form.

It may also be a sign of another concomitant disease that has arisen against the background of reduced immunity. In some cases, such combined symptoms may indicate a relapse of angina, or its transition to a chronic form. In some cases, a strong cough may be due to the fact that mucus flows down the walls of the nasopharynx, which irritates the mucous membrane and causes a cough. Against the background of irritation, an inflammatory process may develop, to which a viral infection joins. In any case, in order to choose a treatment, you need a correct diagnosis. Therefore, a visit to the doctor is inevitable.

Cough with sore throat in an adult

In adults, lacunar tonsillitis is most often observed, in which the temperature rises sharply, there is chills, fever, severe headache, muscle and joint pain. The lymph nodes, tonsils, and throat also hurt. Salivation increases. In children, this form is often accompanied by vomiting. The tonsils are covered with a film. Due to severe inflammation, it is painful to swallow, so you need to eat pureed food and drink more juices. Recovery occurs in 5-7 days. But after this, weakness, high temperature and cough persist for a long time.

Cough with sore throat in children

In children, tonsillitis is often accompanied by a strong cough. It lasts quite a long time and makes itself known even after recovery. Usually, the cough lasts from 1 to 3 weeks. Any cough, whether productive or unproductive, is tiring for a child. Any cough is accompanied by a decrease in immunity, exhaustion of the body. Children often have severe coughing fits, with profuse vomiting and refusal to eat. This does not contribute to recovery. The child needs complex treatment, so giving only expectorants in this case is inappropriate.

Cough after sore throat in a child

Children usually develop a cough after a sore throat. It can be dry or wet. It is often residual. In most cases, it requires treatment, as it can lead to complications or provoke a relapse of the disease.

A dry cough is unproductive, it is not accompanied by the release of sputum. It is important to remember that any cough is a natural defense mechanism. It is aimed at removing mucus, bacteria or any foreign agent from the respiratory tract. This is only possible with a productive (wet) cough. Therefore, in order to get rid of a cough, it must be transferred to a productive form. After this, sputum is released, and the cough gradually disappears, as the inflammatory process subsides and sputum is removed. Various expectorants are used for treatment. Children's products are available in the form of syrup.

Complications and consequences

Tonsillitis is caused by inflammation of the tonsils, which protect the body from infection. The tonsils are part of the immune system. Their inflammation leads to a failure of the immune system. Most often, the pathological process develops according to the autoimmune type, in which the immune system shows aggression towards its own body and produces antibodies against the cells of its own body. This can lead to numerous pathologies, including heart failure, disruption of many internal organs. There is an elevated temperature. The load on the kidneys and liver increases. In children, rheumatism, arthritis, and joint diseases are common complications. Vision and the functional state of the skin are impaired. A disease such as rheumatic fever also occurs, which is accompanied by shortness of breath, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, and a strong cough.

With tonsillitis, immunity is weakened, as a result of which the body is attacked by numerous infections. Diseases of bacterial, viral, fungal nature, various dysbacterioses can develop. Cough, runny nose, high temperature may not go away for a long time. Exhaustion and loss of strength may persist. The lymph nodes and tonsils after tonsillitis remain inflamed and swollen for a long time. Inflammation of the inner or middle ear, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis are often observed. There are cases when even meningitis developed after tonsillitis. Children often have such a complication as retropharyngeal abscess. This manifests itself in the form of suppuration, flux in the area of the lymph nodes and pharynx. As a result, the lumen of the larynx narrows, which leads to suffocation.

If the sore throat is suffered on the legs, or bed rest is not fully observed, complications arise in the heart and kidneys. Most often, pyelonephritis develops in the kidneys, and myocarditis in the heart.

After a sore throat, a dry cough began

A dry cough can also begin after the sore throat has been cured. This is the most severe cough, which is difficult to diagnose and also difficult to treat. The pathogenesis is based on severe irritation of the inflamed tissues of the pharynx, which awakens a reflex. It is aimed at getting rid of a foreign agent that provokes the inflammatory process. A dry cough is the most severe and debilitating, since it does not clear the respiratory tract of sputum. It requires treatment that is aimed at converting an unproductive dry cough into a wet, productive one. In this case, the body gets rid of sputum, inflammation decreases, and recovery occurs faster.

After a sore throat, the cough does not go away

The cough does not go away for a long time if it is dry. Sputum is not secreted, the inflammatory process continues. After a sore throat, a cough may occur because the inflammation focus in the body has not been completely removed. It is necessary to undergo an examination, since the cause may be not only an infection, but also an allergy, spasm, and even worms.

After a sore throat, a runny nose and cough

A runny nose and cough often occur after a sore throat. Most often, these symptoms indicate a viral infection that occurs against the background of reduced immunity. It is imperative to treat a runny nose, since a cough is a consequence of a runny nose. Washing and nasal drops work well. But before starting treatment, you need to conduct a preliminary diagnosis and determine the cause. Treatment is prescribed based on what is causing the disease. Cough usually goes away immediately after the runny nose is eliminated. This is due to the fact that cough occurs as a result of mucus flowing down the nasopharynx and irritating the mucous membrane. It is necessary not only to treat the disease correctly, but also to adhere to a drinking regimen and regularly wet clean the premises. This reduces irritation.

Diagnostics sore throat cough

Diagnosis is limited to instrumental examination of the throat, conducting tests and differentiation from diphtheria.

A throat and nose swab is taken for bacteriological examination. It makes it possible to determine the pathogen. If possible, it is better to conduct a study to determine sensitivity to antibiotics.

It is performed in the otolaryngologist's office. The throat and tonsil area are examined using a spatula and special lighting. An examination of the back wall of the pharynx may be required.

Differential diagnosis

Mandatory differential diagnosis with diphtheria is carried out (using bacteriological testing).

Treatment sore throat cough

The treatment is pathogenetic, i.e. it should be aimed at eliminating the inflammatory process. Removing symptoms does not bring results. First, it is necessary to conduct diagnostics, determine the cause of the disease. Then the appropriate treatment is selected. Antibiotics are prescribed for bacterial tonsillitis, antiviral drugs for viral tonsillitis. Symptomatic therapy may also be prescribed as an addition, depending on the symptoms. Antipyretics are prescribed for hyperthermia, antihistamines and desensitizing agents for allergic reactions. Antiseptic and painkillers may be suitable for local use. To relieve a sore throat, you can dissolve tablets. Expectorants are prescribed for coughs. You need to drink warm tea or herbal infusions. You can combine traditional therapy with folk remedies. But first, you need to consult a doctor.

Treatment also requires following basic rules. First, strict bed rest is needed. This will help avoid complications and direct all the body's energy to overcoming the disease and recovery, rather than to vigorous activity. Second, you need to drink plenty of fluids. At the same time, cold drinks should be excluded. Drink only warm drinks. Solid foods are also contraindicated. Food should be soft and dietary. At the same time, you cannot eat nuts, seeds, crackers, spices, as they increase inflammation and irritation. Also, you should not include chocolate in your diet, as it is an ideal breeding ground for microorganisms, which increases the inflammatory process. Various broths and strained soups have a good effect on the body. They help accumulate strength, activate the body, and speed up recovery. You can drink jelly. Due to its thick consistency, jelly coats the throat and helps reduce symptoms. In particular, it reduces coughing. You need good rest, a long sleep, which helps restore the body. And it is necessary to carry out regular wet cleaning, which helps to alleviate the condition, reduces the number of microbes in the air, and promotes a speedy recovery. With humid air, it is easier for the patient to breathe, and the patient's well-being noticeably improves.

To treat a cough after a sore throat, you will definitely have to go to a clinic, since you cannot do without tests in this case. You need to make a diagnosis, determine the cause of the cough, and based on this, make a decision on further treatment. It is important to establish whether the cough is a consequence of such a complication of sore throat as rheumatic fever. If so, then only a doctor can select the treatment. If the cause is another disease, then it will be much easier to cure such a cough.

In case of pharyngitis, laryngitis, these diseases are treated. Antibacterial or antiviral therapy is prescribed, depending on what pathogen provokes the cough. Additionally, expectorant therapy is prescribed, which is aimed at expectoration. If the cough is dry, it must first be converted to a wet form. Then remove the sputum with the help of expectorants. In case of a runny nose, you need to treat the runny nose, the cough will go away on its own. If the cause of the cough is bronchitis or pneumonia, complex therapy is needed.

Medicines

Various medications are taken to treat cough. It is not recommended to take them on your own, without first consulting a doctor. Despite the fact that many people think that cough is easy to treat, this is far from true. Often, many complications arise due to the wrong combination of drugs. For example, mucolytics are often taken together with expectorants during self-medication. As a result, mucolytics dissolve phlegm, and expectorants help to remove it. Dissolved phlegm, which has turned into mucus, flows down the wall and is quite difficult to remove. It begins to irritate the mucous membrane and causes a dry cough. At the same time, expectorants continue their action, intensifying a wet cough, in which the bronchi contract intensively, trying to push out the remaining phlegm. A contradictory effect occurs, as a result of which a spasm, suffocation, and an allergic reaction may occur.

People also often take cough suppressants and expectorants. This is absurd, since cough suppressants are aimed at reducing coughing, and expectorants, on the contrary, at increasing it and removing phlegm. In the best case, this ends with the drugs simply not working, mutually suppressing each other. In the worst case, bronchospasm, suffocation, and inflammation develop. Thus, when treating a cough, it is important to take precautions - consult a doctor, or at least not combine unfamiliar drugs.

It is recommended to take the following medications:

  • ambroxol - 1 tablet three times a day;
  • codelac – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day;
  • Sinekod - 1 tablespoon three times a day;
  • Erespal - 1 tablet no more than 2 times a day.

Angin-heel for cough for children

An effective remedy against cough and sore throat. It is used for resorption. It is available in tablet form. It can be mixed with liquids and drunk as a syrup. It is recommended for children over 6 years old, 1 tablet 3 times a day, from 1 year to 3 years old - half a tablet three times a day. For infants - no more than a quarter of a tablet per day mixed with breast milk.

Antibiotics for cough and sore throat

In most cases, antibiotics cannot be used to treat tonsillitis. They affect the bacterial microflora, reducing its numbers. As a result, the inflammatory process is relieved, and the symptoms of the disease disappear. Ideally, an antibiotic is prescribed after a preliminary bacteriological culture and determination of sensitivity to the drug. To do this, a culture is taken from the throat and nose, the causative agent of the disease is isolated, then an antibiotic is selected for it and the required dosage is determined. This guarantees the effectiveness of the treatment.

But in practice, such studies are rarely carried out. Firstly, the study is carried out for 5-7 days. It cannot be carried out faster, since it depends on the growth rate of the microorganism. This is a very long period for tonsillitis, the doctor simply does not have such time. Treatment must be started immediately. In emergency cases, urgent measures must be taken, since the child may even suffocate and die during this time. Secondly, the budget of many state institutions is not designed to carry out such tests. Often, only private clinics can afford them.

There is a way out. Thanks to many years of practice, doctors know approximately what clinical picture different diseases have. Thus, an experienced doctor, only on the basis of examination, can assume which pathogen caused the disease, and prescribe a remedy specifically for this microbe. Or, for such a case, broad-spectrum antibiotics are provided, which have an antibacterial effect directed against a wide variety of microorganisms that can cause such diseases.

Antibiotics such as amoxicillin from the penicillin group, ceftriaxone, cefazolin from the cephalosporin group, erythromycin, azithromycin from the macrolide group have proven themselves well.

Cough syrups for sore throat

Syrups are often used to relieve cough symptoms. They can be taken together with antibiotics and other medications. The following syrups help with cough: sinekod, kolelak, erespal, ambroxol, gerbion, mucaltin, Doctor Mom, althea syrup. All syrups have a symptomatic effect, that is, they do not treat the cough, but only relieve its symptoms, temporarily alleviate the condition.

Essential oils for cough and sore throat

Essential oils have a positive effect on the entire respiratory system. They help relieve coughs, eliminate symptoms of a runny nose, and difficult breathing. They can be used in various forms: as part of inhalations, in the form of drops to freshen the air. Oils are added to water used for cleaning to ensure freshness. They are also used with aroma lamps and aroma burners. They emit aroma for a certain period of time. Oils are used during an aromatherapy session.

Coniferous tree oils are good for eliminating cough. They soothe, tone, relieve inflammation, and have an antiseptic effect. Fir, pine, and spruce oils are recommended. They can be combined. Eucalyptus, mint, chamomile, and lavender are also recommended.

During the infectious process, it is not recommended to take vitamins, as they act as growth factors for bacteria. Only vitamin C in an increased dosage of 1000 mg is recommended, as it stimulates the body's defenses, strengthens the immune system and promotes rapid recovery.

Physiotherapy treatment

Physiotherapy is used quite often in the treatment of angina. The procedure of UF, which is based on the effect of ultraviolet rays, helps to relieve inflammation and eliminate the infectious process. Electrophoresis is used. With its help, drugs are administered. Under the influence of microcurrent, drugs quickly penetrate into tissues, have a therapeutic effect there.
