The medicine was named after the French doctor Jean-Guillaume Auguste Lugol, who studied skin diseases. The iodine solution that became the basis of this medicine was developed in 1829.
Indications for the procedure

Lugol's solution is approved for use in children aged six months and older.
The spray cannot be used by children under 1 year old, because as a result of spraying the product, small particles of the medicinal liquid can penetrate into the larynx, which can result in the development of laryngospasm, which is very dangerous for life. Therefore, you should not take risks - it is better to use another product.

You can also simply wind cotton wool on a pencil and lubricate the oral cavity and tonsils with it. If Lugol's solution is used incorrectly, complications may develop - they manifest themselves in the form of adverse reactions to the drug:
- increased salivation due to iodism;
- urticaria or angioedema;
- development of a runny nose;
- the appearance of acne or irritation on the skin, as well as other allergic reactions;
- development of tachycardia;
- increased sweating, feeling of nervousness and sleep disturbances;
- Patients over 40 years of age may develop diarrhea.

What can replace Lugol's solution for sore throat?
There is a group of analogous drugs whose active substance is iodine - Iodopyrone, Iodinol, as well as aqueous or alcoholic iodine solutions. They can replace Lugol's solution for sore throat. The method of application is the same as when using Lugol's solution. The course of treatment should be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
This drug can also be replaced by the following medications: Hexoral, Anginal, and in addition to this, Anzibel, Lizobact and Miramistin, as well as Faringosept and Tantum Verde.
