This drug works even without the patient's knowledge, which is convenient for his relatives who are trying to eradicate this harmful addiction. However, this method is not welcomed by doctors, since drinking alcohol during treatment can lead to serious consequences that threaten the patient's health and life.

Pharmacodynamics
The main active ingredient that causes the necessary aversion to drinking alcohol is the extract of the mushroom Coprinus or white dung beetle. The aversive effect of this mushroom, which is considered conditionally edible, in combination with alcohol has been noted for a long time; this remedy is used by folk healers to treat alcoholism. Disulfiram, contained in Coprinus, interacts with ethanol to cause acute intoxication, accompanied by severe nausea and vomiting, fever, headache and heart pain, tachycardia and other pronounced symptoms of this condition.
The disulfiram-ethanol reaction consists of inhibiting the enzymatic activity of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, which catalyzes the metabolism of ethyl alcohol, at the stage of formation of the toxic substance acetaldehyde, and delaying its further breakdown into acetic acid and water, which safely leave the body. This leads to the accumulation of acetaldehyde in the body, and the appearance of symptoms of acute poisoning, causing the patient torment, up to the fear of death. Usually, this condition lasts no more than two hours. As a result, a conditioned reflex is formed linking alcohol consumption with symptoms of poisoning, after several repetitions, the patient begins to refuse alcoholic beverages, not wanting to experience an attack of intoxication again. It is this property of Coprinus that allows the patient to develop a persistent reflex to alcohol even without his knowledge.
Succinic acid is a good anti-hangover remedy, normalizes cellular respiration, liver and kidney functions. Together with polyunsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, it helps to increase the body's defenses, activate metabolism and other functions impaired in the process of chronic alcoholism.
