Alcoholism is a problem that has existed for many, many years. At the same time, even the most innovative methods do not guarantee a complete cure for alcohol addiction. Narcologists prescribe various medications to their patients, use hypnosis, reflexology, and prescribe psychotherapeutic sessions. However, as experts say, the most effective method remains sewing in alcoholism.
Unfortunately, the method of sewing in for alcoholism is not 100% effective, despite its frequent effectiveness. The whole point is that for successful treatment it is necessary for the patient himself to fully understand the importance of such a step. If the patient is set in advance for failure after sewing in, then no treatment option will have the expected result.
Coding from alcoholism by the method of sewing
Sewing in for alcoholism is currently considered one of the most popular methods of getting rid of alcohol addiction. The essence of this sewing method is that a special drug is implanted into a person in a hard-to-reach area of the body. Such a drug will enter the patient's bloodstream over a specified period of time.
The time period provided for the implantation is discussed with the person and his relatives in advance. Since the implantation cannot be performed on all patients (there are contraindications), the procedure is always performed in hospital conditions. In essence, the implantation for alcoholism is a minor surgical intervention.
After administering the appropriate medication, the doctor will apply stitches and the patient will be able to go home.

Indications for the procedure
The implantation is indicated for the treatment of chronic alcohol addiction. There are no other indications for this procedure.
Chronic alcohol addiction is a complex and dangerous condition that is provoked by long-term systematic consumption of alcoholic beverages. Chronic alcoholics have a constant presence of toxic and metabolic products in the blood, which have a destructive effect on all human tissues and organs.
A person suffering from chronic alcoholism consumes alcoholic beverages uncontrollably and cannot give them up under any circumstances. Often, only alcoholism implantation helps to solve the painful problem.
Preparation
Before proceeding with sewing in for alcoholism, the doctor will advise how to properly prepare for the procedure. Thus, treatment by sewing in is carried out in stages:
- Several days before the procedure, it is necessary to sharply limit the amount of alcohol consumed, or better yet, eliminate it altogether. If the patient is in the binge stage, he is assigned to inpatient treatment, where drugs are administered intravenously to help remove toxic components from the circulatory system.
- Before sewing in the anti-alcoholism device, the patient must take a blood test in advance. First of all, it is necessary to exclude the possibility of an allergic reaction, so that complications do not arise in the future.
- The doctor should talk to the patient before the procedure. It is important to explain to the patient how the alcoholism implantation will be performed, what complications and consequences may arise.
Only after all stages of preparation for implantation of the anti-alcoholism device have been completed, can manipulations be started.

Technique alcoholism shots
The implantation of anti-alcoholism drugs is performed exclusively by a doctor in a hospital setting - for example, in a drug addiction clinic or in a drug addiction department. The intervention is allowed to be performed only on those patients who have successfully completed all stages of preliminary preparation.
Immediately before the implantation, the patient is asked to sign a receipt stating that he/she agrees to the procedure and has been informed of possible complications and consequences. In addition to the patient himself/herself, his/her closest relatives must also provide their consent.
The place for sewing the drug is chosen by the doctor - it should be difficult to access for the patient. The drug for sewing in for alcoholism is inserted under the skin, or can be administered by intramuscular injection. Most often, the subscapular, gluteal or femoral region is chosen. The localization of sewing does not affect the effectiveness of the drug in any way.
How does alcoholism implantation work?
The doctor performs the sewing in of the torpedo for alcoholism. First, he disinfects the skin surface and anesthetizes it. Then he makes an incision with a scalpel. He injects the preparation into the formed pocket, to a depth of at least 4 centimeters. After that, the surgeon sutures the wound - puts the required number of stitches.
The implantation of an ampoule for alcoholism is done under local anesthesia. If necessary, the doctor may additionally offer the patient painkillers and sedatives for oral administration. Usually, while the intervention for implantation for alcoholism is in progress, the patient does not feel any pain or discomfort.
Drugs for sewing in for alcoholism
Most narcologists recommend using different drugs for sewing in alcoholism, depending on the degree of dependence. If the patient suffers from severe and prolonged binges, then the capsule is implanted under the skin. If the patient is in the remission stage from binges, then coding is carried out by intramuscular injections into the back or buttocks.
Often the drugs of choice for sewing in alcoholism are Teturam or Naltrexone. In recent years, Antinol and Algominal have become no less popular.
More well-known and time-tested are Esperal, Disulfiram and Aquilong Depot.
There are many known means that are used for sewing in alcoholism. But almost all such means have one active component - disulfiram.
Disulfiram is implanted subfascially, the effect usually lasts for 8 months, after which the implantation should be repeated. The implanted tablets must be sterile, without any damage or impurities.
Disulfiram is an aldehyde dehydrogenase inhibitor, an enzyme that transforms the product of ethanol metabolism into acetic acid. When disulfiram and alcohol enter the bloodstream at the same time, the level of acetaldehyde increases significantly, which triggers intoxication processes. The person begins to feel sick, the heartbeat increases, blood pressure drops, the head spins, attacks of heat and difficulty breathing occur. The severity of these symptoms depends on the dose of alcohol the patient drank. In mild cases, the attack lasts ½-1 hour, and in severe cases - several hours. If the level of ethanol in the blood exceeds 100 ml, then cardiac and respiratory failure occurs, which can end in the death of the patient.
Judging by the reviews, the most commonly used method is Esperal implantation for alcoholism. This drug is deservedly popular and produces a stable negative perception of alcohol. Analogues of this medication include such products as Antabuse, Tetlong, Teturam, Torpedo, etc. The well-known Esperal can be purchased in several dosage forms:
- in tablet form for oral use;
- in tablet form for subcutaneous administration;
- in gel form for external application.
The active ingredient in Esperal is the same disulfiram – its quantity is 500 mg.

Contraindications to the procedure
Before prescribing an alcoholism implant, the doctor will check whether the patient has any contraindications to the procedure:
- severe liver failure or severe renal impairment;
- tendency to epilepsy;
- pregnancy, breastfeeding period;
- mental illness, severe stress;
- severe alcohol intoxication;
- diabetes mellitus;
- severe damage to the skin at the site of the intended implantation of the drug;
- general inflammation – for example, fever, acute respiratory viral infection, pneumonia, etc.;
- malignant diseases.
Consequences after the procedure
Sewing in for alcoholism requires the presence of a constant concentration of the active drug in the blood - for example, disulfiram. What does this give? The patient has an inadequate and very strong reaction to any dose of alcohol. In order for the patient to understand how strong such a reaction is, after the sewing in, the doctor may offer him to take a small amount of alcohol - for example, 25 ml. This amount will be enough to fully feel the severity of the reaction, but not to create a threat to the person's life.
How does such a reaction to alcohol manifest itself after implantation? The process of severe intoxication begins: breathing becomes more frequent and difficult, shortness of breath, dizziness, hot flashes, heart rhythm disturbances, nausea increases, and vomiting does not bring relief. Then coordination may deteriorate, consciousness becomes cloudy, and visual function disappears. When consuming a large dose of alcohol, convulsions appear, resembling an epileptic seizure. Aggravation of signs of respiratory and cardiovascular failure can end in death. Often, patients who could not resist and drank alcohol after implantation die as a result of a stroke, heart attack, cerebral edema, acute liver or kidney failure.
Complications after the procedure
Complications after implantation for alcoholism may include allergic reactions, polyneuritis, headaches, dry mucous membranes and the appearance of a metallic taste in the mouth.
Complications after local localization suturing develop less frequently. For example, if the patient ignored the need to care for postoperative sutures, the wound may become purulent. If suturing for alcoholism was performed by an inexperienced person, more serious consequences are possible - for example, rejection of the capsule, development of dermatitis.
To avoid the listed complications, you should contact a professional specialist who has experience in this field to perform the procedure of sewing in for alcoholism. You should not forget about the need for postoperative care of the wound surface.
Care after the procedure
If the alcoholism implantation was performed by injection, then further care is usually not required. The only thing the doctor can advise is regular psychotherapeutic sessions to prevent nervous breakdowns and depressive disorders.
If the patient has undergone a full surgical stitching for alcoholism, then it will be necessary to care for the postoperative wound for some time. After stitching the wound, the doctor will definitely apply a sterile bandage. This bandage will need to be changed periodically - until the suture is completely healed. During the first three days, you cannot wet the wound with water or touch it with your hands. As a rule, when stitching for alcoholism, the doctor prescribes a wound treatment in advance. This can be a non-alcoholic antiseptic or a disinfectant spray.
After the wound from the stitching has healed, the patient can lead a normal life, but drinking alcohol now becomes "taboo" for him. During this adaptation period, it is very important for the patient to feel the support of his family and also to find an activity to his liking that would distract him from negative thoughts. It is also important to change the person's environment, eliminating communication with people who drink. Only a comprehensive approach will allow the patient to forget about his problem faster.
For most patients, alcohol addiction treatment becomes a trigger for starting a new life free from alcoholism.
