The Centrum vitamin complex from A to zinc is not a medicinal product (ATC code – A11AA04: multivitamins containing microelements), but is included in the group of agents that affect tissue metabolism processes.
Centrum is the name given to several multivitamin preparations with minor differences in composition or number of components.
Indications Centrum A to zinc
The use of Centrum from A to zinc, as well as other multivitamin complexes, is an auxiliary way to replenish the body with vitamins, microelements and minerals.
Centrum from A to zinc is prescribed to adults for the purpose of preventing hypovitaminosis after a long illness (especially after chemotherapy and treatment with antibiotics or sulfonamides), as well as in case of malnutrition. But it should be taken into account that vitamin supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

Centrum from A to zinc - film-coated tablets of 1.244 g (30 tablets in a plastic jar, packed in a box).
Pharmacodynamics
The biochemical mechanism of action of vitamins and microelements, as such, is not given in the instructions for the drug Centrum from A to zinc. The composition of the complex is indicated (it includes 25 components) and their biological role in the human body is noted.
Centrum A to Zinc contains:
- Vitamin A – provides the physiological structure of skin cells and mucous membranes, necessary for the production of steroid hormones.
- carotenoid lutein (xanthophyll antioxidant) – ensures normal central vision, prevents degeneration of the yellow spot (macula) of the retina and lens.
- Vitamin E is an antioxidant that regulates oxidation-reduction processes in the body.
- Vitamin C – promotes the absorption of glucose and the deposition of glycogen in the liver, is necessary for the synthesis of amino acids and hormones, normal blood clotting and thyroid function.
- Vitamin B1 – participates in the regulation of lipid, carbohydrate and protein metabolism.
- Vitamin B2 – is involved in almost all tissue metabolic processes and hematopoiesis.
- Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is a source for the production of many essential coenzymes.
- Vitamin B6 – ensures the metabolism of essential amino acids.
- Vitamin B9 (folic acid) – necessary for protein synthesis and tissue formation.
- Vitamin B12 – ensures growth and regeneration of blood cells and skin.
- Vitamin H (B7 or biotin) – participates in carbohydrate metabolism, production of purine bases and collagen.
- Vitamin D – regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism, ensures bone strength.
- Vitamin K is a blood clotting factor.
- Vitamin PP (nicotinamide) – regulates oxidation-reduction processes, promotes the integrity of blood vessels.
In addition, Centrum from A to zinc contains calcium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, manganese, copper, iodine, chromium, molybdenum, selenium and zinc. This complex provides the daily intake of manganese, chromium and molybdenum for an adult, as well as half the daily intake of iodine, copper, selenium and zinc and 36% of the required iron.
All components complement each other, for example, vitamins A, C and E together with zinc and selenium help strengthen the immune system; vitamin A and lutein help maintain normal vision, etc.
Pharmacokinetics
The pharmacokinetics of vitamin preparations (including Centrum from A to zinc) has not been described, since the compounds included in their composition replenish the body's reserves of substances involved in many biochemical processes, and the mechanism of their absorption and excretion of metabolites has not been tracked.
Use Centrum A to zinc during pregnancy
The Centrum vitamin complex from A to zinc is not intended for use during pregnancy; there are special vitamin preparations for pregnant women for this purpose. During pregnancy, additional intake of vitamin A without consulting a doctor can lead to intrauterine fetal defects.
