Pharmacodynamics

Active substances of the drug Celestoderm-B with garyamicin - synthetic glucocorticosteroid (hormone of the adrenal cortex) betamethasone and aminoglycoside antibiotic garamycin (gentamycin sulfate).

Betamethasone removes inflammation due to inhibition of the release of arachidonic acid and the synthesis of inflammatory mediators from it, slowing the movement of leukocytes to the focus of the inflammatory process, blocking the activity of lysosomal enzymes and other biochemical processes. The reduction of itching is facilitated by the stabilization of the membranes of immune cells and the reduction of the release of histamine into the blood. A decrease in the synthesis of tissue immunoglobulins provides antiallergic effect of the corticosteroid in the composition of the Celestoderm-B ointment with garyamycin.

Gentamycin sulfate (Garamycin) has a bactericidal effect by disrupting the cell membranes of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, which leads to a violation of protein synthesis and the death of bacteria.

Pharmacokinetics

Betamethasone in the Tselestoderm-B Ointment with Garamycin is adsorbed into the bloodstream in an insignificant amount (about 14%), binds to the proteins of the plasm, undergoes metabolism in the liver and is eliminated through the kidneys and intestines.

Information on the pharmacokinetics of garamycin is not available in the official instructions. Although it is noted that when applying ointment to large areas and with continued use, the level of systemic absorption of this agent is increased.
