Cardimax is a medication that has antihypoxic as well as antianginal effects. Its use leads to the stabilization of cellular processes of energy exchange (while the drug also actively affects cells that have been affected by ischemia or hypoxia).

Thanks to the use of a therapeutic agent, the likelihood of arrhythmias decreases, the patient's physical endurance is increased and the level of coronary reserve increases. [1]

Indications Cardimax

It is used as a treatment for ischemic heart disease . It is also prescribed to prevent the development of angina attacks - in monotherapy or as part of a comprehensive treatment.

It is possible to use the drug in the treatment of cochleo-vestibular disorders with ischemic etiology, including hearing impairment and ear noise, as well as chorioretinal vascular lesions with an ischemic element.

Release form

The release of the therapeutic element is made in tablets - 10 pieces inside a separate strip. Inside the pack - 3 or 10 strips.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug prevents a decrease in intracellular ATP stores inside cardiomyocytes, and at the same time preserves the levels of ACE and ATP inside the brain cells. Cardimax demonstrates a membrane-protective effect and helps the full activity of membrane ion channels.

The drug selectively suppresses the mitochondrial enzyme, as a result of which the metabolism of phospholipids is activated, acidosis decreases and the accumulation of free radicals occurs. The drug affects the change in metabolic processes inside the ischemic myocardium - glucose is oxidized, not fatty acids, which prevents intracellular acidosis. [2]

The drug reduces the incidence of angina attacks, while not changing the heart rate. Because of this, during its use, you can reduce the portion of nitroglycerin. [3]

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is absorbed at high speed (Tmax value is 1.8 ± 0.7 hours); protein synthesis - about 16%; distribution volume indicators - 4.2 l / kg.

Approximately 80% of the administered portion is excreted through the kidneys; 62% of the substance is excreted unchanged. The half-life is approximately 6 hours.

Intrarenal indicators of trimetazidine clearance have a direct correlation with the level of CC. Intrahepatic clearance decreases with age, which is why the half-life term can increase up to 12 hours in persons over 65 years of age.

Prolonged administration of the drug (for a period longer than 15 days, 20 mg, 2 times a day) does not change its pharmacokinetics. Eating food does not affect drug absorption.

Dosing and administration

The medication is taken in a dosage of 20 mg (1 tablet), 2-3 times a day. Reception is made with food. A maximum of 60 mg of the therapeutic agent is allowed per day.

The medicine can be used for long-term therapy, but the doctor must select the duration of the treatment cycle, personally to each patient.

  • Application for children

It is forbidden to use the medication on persons under the age of 14.

Use Cardimax during pregnancy

You can not prescribe Cardimax during pregnancy.

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • pronounced sensitivity to the elements of the drug;
  • period of breastfeeding.

People with severe renal insufficiency (with a CC level below 30 ml per minute) need to use the medicine very carefully.

Persons with insufficient liver function and the elderly should reduce the daily dosage of the drug or prolong the interval between uses - due to the fact that these groups have a prolongation of the drug half-life.

Side effects Cardimax

Among the side signs:

  • dyspeptic symptoms, nausea and pain in the epigastric zone;
  • manifestations of allergies;
  • sleep disorders such as insomnia.

Interactions with other drugs

The introduction of Cardimax in combination with theophylline, nitrates, digoxin, and in addition with Ca antagonists, digitalis substances, β-blockers, lipid-lowering agents and heparin does not lead to any drug interactions.

Storage conditions

Store Cardimax in a dry and dark place, out of the reach of children. The temperature level is in the range of 10-25oC.

Shelf life

Cardimax is allowed to be used within a 36-month period from the date of sale of the therapeutic product.
