Indications of the blueberry shoots

For medicinal purposes, not only the berries of the plant are used, but also the bilberry shoots. They are added to infusions, teas, alcohol tinctures.

Blueberries shoots have a significant effect in diseases of the digestive system, with anemia. Due to the presence of organic compounds, it is possible to improve the state of the intestinal microflora. Blueberries shoots are characterized by the ability to collect toxic substances in the intestine, and the presence of astringents is favorable for the precipitation of protein fractions from the mucosa, which helps to tighten the upper layer of the intestinal mucosa. The formed protective protein film protects tissues from external mechanical and chemical irritants, which helps to eliminate painful sensations and inflammatory reactions, decreases secretory activity, inhibits intestinal motility, facilitates the absorption of useful substances and assimilation of food.

Such abilities of bilberry shoots allow to use it for the treatment of acute and chronic digestive disorders, which occur with signs of diarrhea, development of rotting and fermentation processes in the intestine, symptoms of enterocolitis, ulcerative processes, gastritis and duodenitis.

Tannic and bactericidal abilities of preparations from bilberry shoots favorably affect the inflammation of the oral mucosa and nasopharynx. In particular, these properties are relevant in the treatment of such pathologies in pediatrics.

In medical practice, infusion and tea from the shoots of bilberries are sometimes used for mild diabetes mellitus.

In ophthalmology, Bilberry shoots are used for myopia, hemeralopathy, diabetic retinopathy, for restoring the adaptive mechanisms of the eyes to dark conditions (night and twilight vision), as well as for degenerative changes in the retina.
