Betasalic is a complex drug with antiproliferative, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, disinfectant and keratolytic properties.
Indications Betasalic
It is used as a treatment for the following disorders:
- seborrheic dermatitis developing under the scalp;
- eczema, which can be chronic or acute;
- pompholyx or psoriasis or neurodermatitis;
- lichen planus;
- dermatoses, against the background of which hyperkeratosis and peeling of the skin are observed;
- ichthyosis, as well as changes of ichthyotic nature;
- atopic form of dermatitis.
Release form
The drug is released in the form of an ointment, in tubes with a volume of 15 or 30 g. The box contains 1 such tube.
Pharmacodynamics
Salicylic acid has the ability to eliminate horny layers that have appeared on the skin, and in addition to this, to soften the epidermis - this effect is provided by a pronounced keratolytic effect. This substance also helps betamethasone (the second active element of the drug) to penetrate into the skin. In addition, the component prevents the development of microbial or fungal infections and stabilizes the physiological pH level of the skin.
The betamethasone element has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antiexudative and anti-edematous properties, and is also a GCS. The component prevents the release of inflammatory conductors and lysosome enzymes, and in addition, reduces the rate of accumulation of leukocytes and weakens the intensity of the local inflammatory process.
The active element prevents the formation of edemas of an inflammatory nature, and in addition, strengthens the strength of tissues and blood vessels, and suppresses the processes of phagocytosis.
Pharmacokinetics
The active substance betamethasone easily passes through the stratum corneum deep into the skin. However, it does not penetrate into the body and therefore is not subject to biotransformation processes. Use in areas with thin skin, damage or intense inflammation may lead to partial absorption of the component.
A similar effect develops after prolonged use on large areas of the epidermis. Biotransformation occurs in the liver. The drug is excreted through the kidneys - unchanged, along with bile. Only small amounts of the substance are excreted in the form of elements combined with glucuronic acid.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is intended for external use. It can be applied only to the affected areas, twice a day, rubbing the ointment in with gentle movements. If the disease is mild, the drug can be used once a day. The attending physician can adjust the therapy regimen.

Use Betasalic during pregnancy
There is not enough data regarding the clinical experience of using the drug during pregnancy to consider Betasalic completely safe for use during this period.
Only if there are strict indications, a doctor can prescribe an ointment for short-term treatment of small areas of the epidermis.
It is recommended to refrain from breastfeeding during treatment.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- presence of tumors on the epidermis;
- cutaneous tuberculosis;
- manifestations of syphilis on the skin;
- open wounds;
- epidermal reactions to vaccination;
- perioral dermatitis;
- chickenpox;
- rosacea or common acne;
- venous insufficiency of a chronic nature, against the background of which symptoms of a trophic ulcer are observed;
- the presence of intolerance to the drug.
Caution is required when applying the ointment to large areas of the epidermis, under a tight dressing, and to people with diseases affecting the liver.
Side effects Betasalic

Shelf life
Betasalic is allowed to be used within 36 months from the date of manufacture of the therapeutic agent.
