Alluna is a hypnotic sedative drug. The sedative effect of drugs containing hop cones and valerian roots has been confirmed and empirically recognized after preclinical and clinical testing.

To date, no clinical trials have been conducted on hop cone extracts as an anti-insomnia drug. However, at least 4 randomized trials (prospective comparative-controlled or placebo) have been conducted with fixed combinations of valerian root and hop cones with 45% methanol (w/w) dry extracts. Indications Alluna

It is used to treat certain sleep disorders, including insomnia, trouble falling asleep, and restless sleep.

Release form

The medicinal substance is released in tablets - 10 pieces in a cell pack; in a box - 1 or 3 such packs.

Pharmacodynamics

After oral administration of fixed combinations of the above extracts in recommended doses, improvements in the course of the latent phase of sleep as well as its quality were noted. Such effects are unlikely to be associated with any known elements.

Several principles of therapeutic influence of different elements of valerian root (lignin and sesquiterpenoids with flavonoids) have been registered, which possibly demonstrate clinical activity and interact with the GABA system, and also cause agonism regarding A-1 adenosine terminals and synthesis with 5-HT 1A terminal. In addition, several mechanisms of activity of different elements of hop cones (flavonoids with bitter acids) have been identified, as well as agonism regarding melatonin terminals (ML1 with ML2), interaction with GABA and synthesis with subtypes of serotonin terminals (5-HT4e, as well as 5-HT6 with 5-HT7). There is currently no information available regarding hop cone extract - whether it acts independently as a mild sedative or is a synergist with valerian root extract.

Dosing and administration

The medicine is taken orally - 1 tablet, 1 hour before bedtime. You need to swallow the medicine with plain water. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 1.5 tablets.

The gradual transition of the therapeutic effect of Alluna does not allow using a fixed combination of hop cones and valerian root for acute interventional therapy of sleep disorders or mild forms of nervous tension. To restore stable sleep, the herbal preparation must be taken for at least 14 days. To obtain the optimal effect of therapy, it is necessary to continue the course for 1 month.

If symptoms of the disease persist or worsen after 1 month of continuous use of the drug, a consultation with a doctor is required.

  • Application for children

The medicine cannot be used in pediatrics.

Use Alluna during pregnancy

There is no information regarding the safety of using Alluna during breastfeeding and pregnancy. It is prohibited to prescribe the medication during these periods.

A dosage of valerian root of about 20 g leads to the appearance of mild disorders (abdominal spasms, dizziness, severe fatigue, mydriasis, a feeling of compression in the sternum and hand tremors), which disappear after 24 hours.

There is only limited information regarding intoxication with a fixed combination of valerian root and hop cones. Sometimes, after taking 25 tablets of the drug per day, drowsiness, dizziness, atypical sounds in the peritoneum, anxiety and tachycardia were noted.

If the above-described manifestations recur, supportive procedures should be carried out.

Interactions with other drugs

When combining the medication with artificial sedatives, constant medical supervision is required.
