If this drug is taken simultaneously with other oxyquinoline derivatives, the risk of developing all sorts of toxic reactions becomes much higher. Therefore, it is not recommended to prescribe it together with other drugs. Nitroxoline should not be used simultaneously with other drugs, especially those containing hydroxyquinolines or their derivatives. If the drug is prescribed to patients who have impaired renal function due to cumulation of nitroxoline, then medical supervision is absolutely necessary. Interactions of 5-NOC with other drugs can be dangerous. There is no need to prescribe courses of treatment longer than a month without having an additional diagnosis of liver and kidney function.

Undoubtedly useful information that patients do not always notice when taking medications is that if you are prescribed two or more drugs, they can either weaken or enhance the effectiveness of each other. Special instructions

5-NOC is a drug of the oxyquinoline group, which has antibacterial, antiprotozoal and antifungal effects. The drug consists of the active substance, nitroxoline, which is a synthetic compound, a derivative of 8-oxyquinoline. The drug selectively promotes the suppression of DNA synthesis in the cells of microorganisms, which can prevent their normal reproduction. Nitroxoline also allows the formation of necessary compounds with nucleic acids and metals, enzymes of the cell membrane of microorganisms. 5-NOC helps reduce the synthesis of respiratory enzymes and membrane proteins. It is capable of disrupting oxidation-reduction processes in bacterial cells. Nitroxoline is famous for its bactericidal and bacteriostatic action on a large number of microorganisms.

The properties of 5-NOC are able to prevent the formation of DNA in the pathogen cell. In addition, the drug includes complexes that contain microbial cell enzymes, which include metal ions.

Each tablet contains 50 mg of nitroxoline and other excipients.

Nitroxoline, which is in the drug, is an active element against such bacteria as: staphylococci, streptococci, corynebacteria, klebsiella, proteus, shigella, salmonella, neisseria, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, some other types of fungi and other microorganisms.

The drug is completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and after a couple of hours it reaches its maximum concentration in the blood. 5-NOC is excreted from the body as a result of kidney function and is partially excreted by the liver with bile.

It is worth mentioning once again the benefits that a person receives when using the drug 5-NOC. Among many diseases of infectious origin, urinary tract infections are far from the last place. These include pyelonephritis, urethritis, cystitis. Women especially suffer from these diseases, which most often occurs as a result of their anatomical and physiological characteristics of the urinary tract. Among men, the most common urinary tract infections include: epididymitis, prostatitis, urethritis. Developmental anomalies can also lead to impaired urine flow and increased inflammation.

Today, pharmacies are famous for their numerous drugs that are intended to treat this group of diseases. Many of these auxiliary agents include antibiotics with many undesirable side effects that usually lead to disruption of normal microflora. The drug 5-NOC is a uroseptic that suppresses the synthesis of microbial cell DNA and does not lead to dysbacteriosis.

5-NOC is used for absolutely any inflammation, which, as a rule, is caused not only by bacterial microflora, but also by simple intracellular organisms and fungi. The drug is also useful for prevention before or after medical manipulations, which include cystoscopy, urethroscopy, TUR, as well as at the beginning and after the end of operations on the urinary system. 5-NOC can be used starting from childhood, or more precisely from three years. Contraindications for use include severe renal and hepatic dysfunction. It is also best to refrain from using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The dosage form in the form of 50 mg tablets has an undoubted advantage over injections of antibiotics and uroseptics and makes it possible to take 5-NOC in any situation.

Allergic and other reactions to 5-NOC are not so numerous, and if they do occur, then quite rarely. They can be avoided if you take the drug during meals. Another advantage of the drug: it can be used for a long period of time, which is especially important for recurring kidney and bladder infections. Therefore, the drug 5-NOC is one of the most popular drugs for the treatment of all kinds of adverse urinary tract infections.
