Almagel is an antacid drug. Among its functions, the neutralization of the gastric juice produced by the body. The medicine reduces the level of hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice to the optimum required parameters. Pharmacodynamics
There is a uniform distribution of the drug on the gastric mucosa. Thus, the medicine provides long-lasting gastroprotection. Among its functions is also buffer-antacid - the concentration of acid in the gastric juice between the drug's intake is maintained in the range 4-4,5 / 3,5-3,8. Due to sorbitol, there is a slight laxative, as well as choleretic effect. The therapeutic effect of the drug manifests itself 3-5 minutes after taking and lasts for 70 minutes.

Interactions with other drugs
Benzocaine is not allowed in combination with sulfonylamides (since they are antagonists of antibacterial action).
In combination with ketoconazole, cardiac glycosides, iron-containing agents, tetracyclines, ioniaside, antihistamines, ciprofloxacin, cimetidine, phenothiazine, and rhinithildine, Almagel creates insoluble compounds, which makes absorption of these drugs less.
