Release form
Pancreatin Forte is available in tablets that cover the shell, soluble in the intestinal tract. The tablets are brown or dark brown in color, round and biconvex and have a specific odor.
Tablets are packaged in ten pieces in a contour squamous packaging and placed in a cardboard box. Each bundle can have two, three or six contour packagings and an insert-instruction. Also, the tablets are packaged in a jar of dark glass or a polymer jar of sixty pieces each. Each bank is placed in a cardboard box and is supplied with a sheet with instructions.
Each tablet contains pancreatin, which contains active components - enzymes, namely amylase, lipase and protease. There are also a number of excipients: sodium carboxymethyl starch, pregelatinized starch, low molecular weight polyvinylpyrrolidone, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug is a digestive enzyme that is designed to compensate for the deficiency of the secretory function of the pancreas, as well as the secretion of bile. In this case, there is an improvement in the digestion of food, a proteolytic, amylolytic and lipolytic effect is observed.
The enzymes of pancreatin, which are present in the composition of the drug, have a cleaving effect on proteins through their conversion to amino acids. The same action occurs with fats - they are converted to glycerol and fatty acids. Also, starch is also transformed - it produces dextrins and monosaccharides.
In this case, the active components of Pancreatin Forte have an analgesic effect on the pancreas and suppress its secretion.
Under the influence of the substances of the medicament, there is a more qualitative splitting of plant fiber, which leads to an improvement in digestive processes and a decrease in the formation of intestinal gases. Also, Pancreatin Forte has a choleretic effect, helps to better emulsify fats and improves the level of their absorption, leads to an increase in lipase activity.
Pharmacokinetics
To activate the enzymes of pancreatin, which are available with the drug, it is necessary to have an alkaline medium. Such a medium is in the small intestine, where the membrane of the tablets is split. The greatest effectiveness of the drug is observed in half an hour or forty-five minutes after its administration.
Enzymes can not be absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, therefore, do not enter the systemic circulation. They undergo inactivation by hydrolysis and are digested in the intestinal tract. The small amount of Pancreatin Forte, which was not susceptible to hydrolysis, is excreted from the intestine in unchanged form along with the feces.
Dosing and administration
The medication is taken during the meal or immediately after it is finished. In this case, the tablets are not chewed and they need to be washed down with a lot of liquid: it can be water or fruit juice. The dosage of Pancreatin Forte varies depending on the age group of the patient and the severity of the impaired pancreatic function.
The initial dose of Pancreatin Forte is equal to one or two tablets. If such an amount of the drug is ineffective, then its dosage is increased by one and a half or two times. Adult patients can take a day from three to ten tablets of the drug. But with a strong violation of the secretion of the pancreas, this amount can be increased to twenty-seven tablets per day.
Children from four years old who have a history of cystic fibrosis, take the drug depending on the mass of their body. It shows the reception of one tablet for twenty-eight kilograms of the child's body weight. The maximum daily dosage for children is no more than seven tablets.
The course of therapy depends on the severity of the disease, which involves the use of the drug in the interval from several days to several months or years.

The action of Pancreatin Forte on a pregnant woman and the fetus is not sufficiently studied. Therefore, the use of a medicine in this period is possible only if the expected benefit is much higher than the potential risk to the fetus. The same applies to the lactation period.
