Indications Octenisept

Octenisept is intended for local therapy of traumatic injuries, burns and other skin integrity disorders. The list of indications also includes trophic ulcers, pressure sores, intertrigo, bruises, cuts on the skin, flaccid scars after surgical operations, as well as skin lesions of the bacterium of the genus Staphylococcus aureus.

This remedy can be used for medical and prophylactic purposes in otolaryngology, for example, for irrigation of the oral mucosa in patients with inflammatory infections of the mouth and throat.

The medicine is processed by the paranasal sinuses with sinusitis, the bladder with cystitis, etc.

Octenisept can be used for antiseptics during surgery and other medical procedures. It is also effective in the treatment and prevention of inflammatory processes of the urinary and sexual sphere, or in diseases that are transmitted sexually.

Release form

The tool is manufactured in the form of:

  • solution of topical use, 50 ml in a synthetic bottle with a spray nozzle. Each bottle is placed in the factory cardboard box;
  • local solution, 50 ml in a synthetic vial with a vaginal nozzle. Supplied in the factory carton;
  • solution of topical use in a synthetic bottle of 250 ml, 450 ml, 1 liter.

 The composition of the Octenissept is presented:

  • octenidine dihydrochloride 0.1%;
  • phenoxyethanol 2%.

 The auxiliary component is glycerol. 

Pharmacodynamics

Octenisept is a topical antiseptic with a wide range of antimicrobial effects. The effect of the drug is explained by the properties of its constituent components, which are capable of causing the destruction of bacterial cell membranes.

 The action of the antiseptic is directed to gram (+) and gram (-) microorganisms, in particular:

  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis;
  • streptococci;
  • staphylococci;
  • enterococci;
  • nejsherii;
  • esherichia;
  • shigella;
  • Proteus;
  • pseudomonads;
  • corynebacteria;
  • gardnerelles.

 In addition, the drug has a fatal effect on the fungal infection: actinomycetes, trichophytons, microspores, candida.

 Octenisept is also suitable for the destruction of a viral infection:

  • herpetic infection;
  • hepatitis;
  • AIDS virus.

 Sensitive to the antiseptic is also chlamydia, trichomonads, mycoplasmas, ureaplasma, etc.

Pharmacokinetics

Antiseptic solution Octenisept is practically non-toxic to the human body, does not enter the systemic circulation, even through damaged skin.

With the use of this drug for the treatment of wounds and burns, regeneration (recovery) processes are noticeably accelerated, which is explained by the immunostimulating effect of Octenisept.

With external application, the product begins to act for 30 seconds, continuing to have a bactericidal effect for a fairly long period of time.

Systemic action of the drug is not observed.

Dosing and administration

Octenisept is used only locally. Before applying the product, the damaged skin or mucous membranes are cleaned, then gently apply the solution to the necessary area (using a cotton swab, disc or spray nozzle).

If it is required to apply a bandage, then this is done only on dry skin, after waiting for the drying of the applied liquid.

Before surgical interventions, this means can process the area of the proposed incision and nearby tissues. The operating field is processed at least two times.

For patients with wound and burn surfaces, the drug is applied undiluted, with a tampon, bandage, or simply irrigated directly from the bottle head.

For therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, with inflammation of the oral cavity and throat, a solution diluted with pure water in a proportion of one to three is used.

To treat sinuses of the nose, bladder or eye surface, Octenisept is diluted in a proportion of one to six. In such cases, the solution can be diluted with pure water or saline solution.

As a preventive measure of sexual infections, the solution is used undiluted, immediately after sexual contact.

With urethritis or prostatitis, the drug is administered in an amount up to 5 ml in the urethra up to 3 times a day.

When lesion with Staphylococcus aureus, the solution is treated after dilution (one to two, one to six, depending on the severity of the disease).

Fungal infection is destroyed by the use of undiluted agent.

Octenisept is applied only to the dry surface of the skin. The average number of applications of the drug per day - three, maximum - six times.

Do not drip the drug in your ears to avoid burns to your eardrum.

Do not swallow the product, and drip undiluted drug in the eyes.

Use Octenisept during pregnancy

Unlike many bactericidal preparations, Octenisept is not forbidden to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This drug does not enter the systemic circulation, so there is no threat of penetration of active components of the solution through the placenta to the fetus.

 During breast feeding, Octenisept can be used, including, for disinfection of the nipples. However, you need to thoroughly wash your breasts so that the solution does not get into the baby's mouth.

Contraindications

The antiseptic Octenisept has practically no contraindications, except for individual hypersensitivity to this drug - a tendency to allergic reactions. In all other cases, the solution can be used without restrictions, including in pediatric practice.

Side effects Octenisept

Complaints from patients on the intolerance of antiseptic solution are rare. In some cases, when irrigation of the mucous tissues of the oral cavity, feelings of taste may temporarily be broken - for example, a bitter taste appears.

Seldom there is a burning sensation of the skin or mucous tissues immediately after application of the solution.

All these signs disappear without a trace after discontinuing use of the drug. Additional drugs for treatment of adverse events are not required.

Overdose

With external use of cases of overdose antiseptic was not observed.

The drug can be accidentally swallowed: in such cases, gastric lavage, sorbent preparations (activated charcoal, enterosgel, etc.) are prescribed, symptomatic treatment.

In case of contact with eyes or ears, rinse thoroughly with running water.

Interactions with other drugs

Antiseptic Octenisept is not recommended to be used simultaneously with iodine-containing external preparations.

Storage conditions

Antiseptic should be stored in a dry and dark place, with temperatures not exceeding + 25 ° C. There is no need to put the solution in the refrigerator, and even more so in the freezer. Do not allow children to store their medicines.
