Abiflox is an antimicrobial agent of the fluoroquinolones group. It has an inhibitory effect on the complex of DNA hydrazide and topomerase IV, which disrupts the synthesis of microbial cells and causes the destruction of the infectious agent. Abiflox does not have cross-resistance between other groups of antimicrobial agents, but has fluoroquinolones between the groups.

Indications Abiflox

The following indications for the use of abiflox are distinguished:

  • Inflammations caused by microorganisms that are susceptible to levofloxacin;
  • Inflammation of the broncho-pulmonary system (lesions of the pleura, bronchi, lungs, etc.);
  • Inflammation of the urinary tract (inflammation of the kidneys, prostate);
  • Skin inflammation, as well as inflammation of soft tissues.


 

Release form

Form release of the drug: a solution for infusion volume of a hundred milliliters / five hundred milligrams in bottles number 1. 100ml solution contains 500 mg of levofloxacin (in the form of levofloxacin hemidrite). Additional substances that are part of the abyflox: glucose anhydrous, disodium edetate, anhydrous citric acid, hydrochloric acid, water for injection.

Pharmacokinetics

After ingestion, the drug is quickly and almost completely absorbed (eating practically has no effect on this process). Bioavailability is ninety-nine percent. It penetrates well into the lungs, bronchi, organs of the genitourinary tract, polymorphic nuclear leukocytes, alveolar macrophages. In the liver, some of the oxidized, can be deacetylated. It is removed from the body mainly through the kidneys. A small percentage of the active substance is excreted in the form of metabolites. In the unchanged form, with seventy percent of abiophlossa in twenty-four hours, seventy-seven percent are deduced in forty-eight hours; in fecal masses for fourty-two hours four percent of the taken substance accumulates.

Dosing and administration

Dosing and Administration: Abiflox is designed for slow infusion (a hundred milliliters of substance administered at least an hour). The medicine should be used within three hours after opening the bottle.

Recommended doses:

  • Inflammation of the lung tissue - 500 mg once or twice a day;
  • Inflammation of the urinary tract - 250 mg once a day;
  • Inflammation of the prostate gland - 500mg once a day;
  • Inflammation of the skin and soft tissues - 500mg once or twice a day.

After the expiration of three to four days of treatment, it is recommended to switch to using the oral form of the drug. Doses can be increased in cases of complication of the disease. A smaller dosage may be prescribed for patients with impaired renal function. In each separate case, the dose of the drug and the duration of treatment are determined by the doctor depending on the complete picture of the disease.

Use Abiflox during pregnancy

The use of abiflox during pregnancy and during lactation is prohibited because of the possibility of negative effects on the fetus, in particular, on the formation and development of its osteoarticular system. When appointing abliflox during lactation, breast-feeding for the duration of treatment should be interrupted.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of abiflox include hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or to other substances in the group of fluoroquinolones. The drug is not used for epilepsy, as well as for tendon reactions to the use of fluoroquinolones. The drug abifloks not prescribed for children, as well as lactating women and pregnant women. When treating abiflox, the patient is forbidden to operate any kind of transport, since the drug can affect psycho-motor reactions and the functioning of the visual and auditory organs.

Side effects Abiflox

Side effects with the drug Abibloks are possible as follows:

  • The emergence of hypersensitivity reactions, in rare cases, the development of anaphylactic shock, photosensitivity;
  • Loss or deterioration of appetite;
  • Problems with bowel movement;
  • Pseudomembranous enterocolitis;
  • Occurrence of a parasitic fungus;
  • Impaired liver function;
  • Hepatitis;
  • Hypoglycemic syndrome in patients with diabetes mellitus;
  • Increase in the number of eosinophils, lowering of leuko- and platelets, neutrophils;
  • Pain in the head and dizziness;
  • Feeling of ringing in the ears, hearing impairment;
  • Reduction or loss of taste and olfactory functions;
  • Problems with vision (rarely);
  • Disorders of the psyche, emotional state;
  • Disorders of the nervous system;
  • Neuroleptic extrapyramidal disorders;
  • Increased heart rate, blood pressure drop;
  • Effect on repolarization of the myocardium;
  • Disturbance of kidney function;
  • Occurrence of bronchospasm (rarely);
  • Pneumonitis of an allergic nature;
  • Pain in the joints;
  • Pain in the muscles;
  • Defeat of tendons;
  • Local reactions to abiflox: a burning sensation, pain and redness on the skin.

Overdose

An overdose of the drug abiflox can lead to seizures, loss and disturbance of consciousness, an increase in the QT interval on electrocardiography. Symptomatic therapy is provided to assist with overdose.

Interactions with other drugs

The interaction of abiflox with other drugs may have a negative effect.

Among them are the following:

  • Theophylline, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - the convulsive threshold is lowered;
  • Fenbufen - the amount of levofloxacin in the blood increases by thirteen percent;
  • Probenecid, Cimetidine - the elimination of levofloxacin is slowed by twenty-four to thirty-four percent;
  • Cyclosporine - its half-life increases by thirty-three percent;
  • Antagonists of vitamin K - the risk of bleeding.
  • Antiarrhythmic drugs, tricyclic antidepressants, preparations of the macrolide group - prolongation of the Q T-interval;
  • It is undesirable to use alkaline solutions and heparin together with abliflox.

Storage conditions

Storage conditions Abiflox: Store at a temperature of no more than twenty-five degrees Celsius. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and freezing. Keep out of the reach of children.

Shelf life

Shelf life of the drug is two years.
