Alerik is an antihistamine medicine containing in its composition the element of loratadine. This component is a piperidine derivative; This is a 2nd generation antiallergic medicine that demonstrates long-term antihistamine activity. Alerik selectively blocks the activity of the peripheral H1-terminations of histamine.
The drug has antipruritic, anti-allergic and anti-exudative effects; At the same time, loratadine demonstrates the anti-edema effect and strengthens capillary strength.
Indications Aleria
It is used for the common cold with allergic etiology (this includes its seasonal, and also year-round forms), and also for conjunctivitis, which also has an allergic origin.
May be prescribed for people with dermatitis with an allergic nature and idiopathic form of urticaria (in the chronic phase).

Release form
The release of the drug is made in tablets - 7 pieces (1 cell package inside a pack) or 10 pieces (3 cell packages inside a box).
Pharmacodynamics
Loratadine is almost not synthesized with histamine endings of the central nervous system, and also has no affinity for other endings of biogenic amines. The size of the molecule in combination with a high rate of protein synthesis almost completely prevents the penetration of loratadine through the BBB.
The drug effect of the drug is observed after 1-3 hours, reaching the highest effective values after 8-12 hours from the moment of administration. The effect of the drug is maintained within 24-48 hours.
[2]
Pharmacokinetics
When administered orally, loratadine is well absorbed inside the gastrointestinal tract. The Cmax level inside the plasma is recorded after 1-2 hours from the moment of use.
Approximately 99% synthesized with intraplasma protein. Equilibrium indices inside the plasma are noted by the 5th day of the use of the drug.
Loratadine metabolism is implemented within the liver using the hemoprotein P450 structure (this includes CYP 34A with CYP 2D6). In metabolism, a metabolite with a therapeutic activity is formed, as well as some inactive elements.
The term half-life is in the range of 7.5-11 hours; the active element together with metabolic fragments is excreted mainly with urine; the small part is excreted with excrements.
Loratadin does not accumulate inside the body even in case of prolonged use. The medicine is excreted along with the mother's milk.
Dosing and administration
Aleric needs to be taken orally, without reference to the use of food. If required, tablets are allowed to separate. The daily portion is consumed in 1 dose (you should use the drug at the same time of the day).
The duration of the therapeutic course and the sizes of portions of drugs are selected by the attending doctor, who takes into account the personal characteristics of the patient and the intensity of the manifestations of the pathology.
A child with a weight above 30 kg and an adult is given medicine in a daily dose of 10 mg (corresponding to the 1st tablet of medicine).
For a child up to 12 years old with a weight below 30 kg, the drug is prescribed in a daily dosage of 5 mg (corresponding to 0.5 tablets).
Treatment usually lasts for 10 days. If necessary, therapy may be extended in view of the effectiveness of the effect of the drug and its tolerance by the patient.
If the patient requires an epidermal test for allergies, Alerik should be discontinued 7 days before this procedure.
Use Aleria during pregnancy
Do not use loratadine during pregnancy.
With the need to take medication in lactating women, it is necessary to cancel HB at the time of treatment. Continued breastfeeding is allowed at least after 3-5 days from the moment of cessation of the use of drugs (complete excretion of loratadine from the body is realized in the period of 60-120 hours).
Contraindications
The main contraindications:
- strong personal sensitivity regarding loratadine and other elements that are part of the drug;
- glucose-galactose malabsorption;
- galactosemia;
- lactose intolerance.
With great caution prescribed to persons with severe renal dysfunction (this includes cases with acute renal failure and situations with KK below 30 ml per minute - in this case you need to adjust the dose of the medication) and the elderly.
Side effects Aleria
The drug is often transferred without complications.
Occasionally, mainly in people with severe intolerance, nausea, increased fatigue, xerostomia, drowsiness, and headaches may appear.
In addition, heart rhythm disorders, epidermal rashes, alopecia, syncope, liver dysfunction, and anaphylaxis can occur.
[12]
Overdose
The use of large portions of loratadine causes the appearance of headaches, tachycardia and drowsiness, as well as loss of consciousness.
Patients who are conscious (if less than 2 hours have passed since the use of the drug), it is necessary to do gastric lavage and enterosorbents. In the case of loratadine poisoning, the patient must be under medical supervision. If necessary, symptomatic actions are performed.
In the case of Alerik intoxication, hemodialysis will be ineffective.
Interactions with other drugs
It is forbidden to use loratadine in combination with substances that contain ethanol, and in addition with alcoholic beverages.
Drug administration together with macrolides, antimycotics (imidazole derivatives with triazoles) and cimetidine can cause an increase in plasma indicators of loratadine.
Shelf life
Aleric can be applied for a 24-month term from the time the therapeutic substance is produced.
