Indications Ferroplex

It is used to prevent or treat iron deficiency anemia caused by such conditions:

• lactation or pregnancy;
• prolonged bleeding (also in the case of gastric ulcer);
• with intensive growth or during rehabilitation after previous pathologies;
• frequent diarrhea and intestinal microflora disorder;
• iron deficiency in consumed food or its complete absence.

Pharmacodynamics

The iron in the drug is an important element of many organs and tissues, participates in the processes of erythropoiesis and becomes an integral component of the erythrocytes with bone marrow.

Vitamin C significantly increases the body's ability to absorb iron, especially in various disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. Ascorbic acid helps stabilize the activity of Fe2 + ions, thereby improving the absorption of drug elements.

Pharmacokinetics

Iron absorption mainly occurs within the upper part of the small intestine, from where it penetrates into the target organs. Taking into account the needs of the body, some part of the drug is absorbed, and the unused substance is excreted from the feces.

Dosing and administration

Drops should be taken orally with a simple water. It is recommended to make a drug in 120 minutes before or after eating food. But if there are negative signs in the gastrointestinal tract, the medication is allowed to be used together with food.

Before starting therapy, it is necessary to consult with a physician, as well as to pass tests to identify indicators of iron inside the body.

Use of medication for adults.

In the case of severe severity of anemia, it is necessary to consume large quantities of iron, after first calculating the required amount of a substance using a special formula.

Often, they take 0.15-0.3 g of a substance per day, and in case of a moderate or mild form of anemia, 60-120 mg. The frequency of use is 2-3 times.

The therapeutic cycle lasts for 3 months. If at the end of this period, the use of the drug needs to be continued, then the portion should be reduced to the 1st tablet with 3-fold use per day.

Use in children over 4 years of age.

For children and adolescents, the dosage is 1-pill with 3 times daily use.

There is also another mode of use - taking 2 pills 3 times a day, 1-2 times a week, for 3 months. In the case of this scheme, negative symptoms develop less frequently.

Other groups treated.

Older people may require increased portions of Ferroplex, because they decrease the absorption of iron and there is a depletion of its reserves within the body.

Persons with renal failure (also for those who are on hemodialysis) are required to consume 0.2 g of the substance per day (2-3 or more doses). Later the portion is reduced to the standard size.

Use Ferroplex during pregnancy

Usually during pregnancy you need to eat 1 tablet per day (its volume is 30 mg). The duration of the treatment cycle is selected by the doctor.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

• the presence of hypersensitivity to iron or its derivatives, as well as vitamin C and other elements of the drug;
• conditions after gastric resection;
• aplastic form of anemia;
• bleeding.

It is necessary to use the drug with extreme caution if the patient has peptic ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract.

Side effects Ferroplex

Disorders of the digestive function, vomiting, diarrhea, gastric discomfort, nausea, constipation, loss of appetite, increased gas formation and heartburn can sometimes develop after taking the medication.

At the beginning of therapy with lower portions, with their gradual increase, it is possible to reduce the likelihood of the development of such symptoms.

Occasionally, signs of intolerance appear - a rash on the epidermis.

Overdose

In case of inadvertent ingestion of pills content inside the respiratory ducts, an irreversible necrosis may develop, so you should immediately consult a doctor.

In case of acute drug poisoning, the following symptoms may develop: bloody vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea and nausea. In severe cases, oliguria, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, and a state of shock are noted.

After 4-6 hours, improvement is noted, but after 0.5-2 days, periodic breathing, shock, hepatitis and jaundice can develop, and in addition, coma, convulsions and paralysis. Death can also occur.

As a curative measure, taking raw eggs or milk is used, and then gastric lavage using a buffer phosphate solution or bicarbonate. In addition, you need to take 5 grams (child) or 10 grams of deferoxamine.

With the development of shock or coma due to drug overdose, with serum iron levels of 3 mg / ml, intravenous injection of levulose with deferoxamine is required. This procedure must be repeated on the following day.

With the appearance of anuria, hemodialysis should be performed.

In extreme cases, Ca-DTPA or Zn-DTPA may be administered.

Interactions with other drugs

Combination with antacids or aluminum-containing agents may weaken the therapeutic efficacy of drugs.

The drug reduces the effectiveness of ciprofloxacin with ofloxacin, as well as other antibacterial drugs.

The degree of absorption of methyldioxyphenylalanine inside the oral cavity when combined with Ferroplex can be significantly reduced.

Tetracyclines and penicylamine, when used together with iron medications, mutually weaken drug efficacy.

The interval between the use of iron and thyroxine should be equal to at least 2 hours. In addition, with such a combination, it is necessary to constantly conduct examinations of the thyroid state.

It is forbidden to take the drug in conjunction with chloramphenicol.

Ferroplex must be kept in a dark and dry place. Temperature values are not higher than 25 ° C.

Shelf life

Ferroplex can be used within 5 years from the date of manufacture of the pharmaceutical agent.

Application for children

Do not use Ferroplex for therapy in children under 4 years of age.
