Hepalex is a medicine prescribed for diseases affecting the liver and gallstones.

Indications Gepaleks

It is used for hepatic lesions of a toxic nature or chronic liver inflammations.

Release form

The release of the medicinal component is implemented in capsules, 10 pieces per cell package. The pack contains 3 or 6 such packages.

Pharmacodynamics

Hepalex is a hepatoprotective herbal remedy. Its effect is provided by the silymarin contained in the composition (this is a combination of extractive elements obtained from the fruits of the spotted milk thistle - silidanin with silibinin, silikristin and other flavonol derivatives). Substance silibinin - the main element of silymarin.

The effect of the drug is developed by stimulating cellular metabolism. Activation of protein and phospholipid binding within hepatocytes occurs, destruction of cell walls is prevented, thus avoiding the loss of cellular elements, and in addition, the passage of toxins into the liver cells is prevented.

Pharmacokinetics

The main element of silymarin, the substance silibinin, is absorbed within the gastrointestinal tract by 20–40%. The values of Cmax inside the blood plasma are determined after 30-60 minutes from the time of oral administration. There is also circulation inside the liver and intestines.

More than 80% of silibinin used is excreted in the bile in the form of conjugates of glucuronides and sulfates (the former are likely to undergo intrahepatic circulation).

Excretion of silibinin produced by the kidneys is secondary. Only 3-7% of the applied substance is determined inside the urine after 24 hours.

Dosing and administration

The drug should be consumed on the 1st capsule 1-2 times per day. The drug is taken after eating food, you need to drink the capsules with 1 glass of plain water.

The duration of the therapy is chosen for the patients personally, only the attending doctor does so. The duration of the treatment cycle is not limited, but it usually lasts 90 days.

Use Gepaleks during pregnancy

Since there is a lack of sufficient information regarding the efficacy and drug safety of drugs, it can only be used for breastfeeding or pregnancy under medical supervision, after conducting a thorough assessment of the risk-benefit ratio.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated to take in case of strong intolerance against silymarin or other components of the therapeutic agent.

Side effects Gepaleks
