Pharmacodynamics
The antifungal effect of the medication is provided by suppression of ergosterol secretion, as a result of which functional and structural disorders develop within the cytoplasmic walls. The drug also has a fungicidal and fungistatic effect.
A wide range of antifungal activity allows the drug to affect both dermatophytes, and on dimorphic, yeast and mold fungi. Slowing effect of drugs develops at the levels of 0.062-8.0 μg / ml.
In addition to the antifungal effect, the drug also affects the activity of gram-positive bacteria, including staphylococci with streptococci, and negative bacteria (bacteroides and gardnerella vaginalysis) at concentrations of 0.5-10 μg / ml.
Pharmacokinetics
The tests showed that the absorption of clotrimazole is rather weak and varies within 2-10% of the applied portion. The peak values of the drug inside the plasma are less than 10 ng / ml, which suggests that the likelihood of developing common negative manifestations is very low.
After intravaginal administration of suppositories, systemic absorption is a maximum of 10%. Exchange processes lead to the formation of inactive derivatives, excreted from the body.
Dosing and administration
The cream should be used externally, treating it with affected areas (thin strip, thickness of which is 0.5 cm) and gently rubbing. Repeat this procedure 2-3 times a day.
The maximum duration of therapy is 1 month. To select exact terms is necessary individually, taking into account the degree of severity and localization of the lesion, and besides this, the type of bacterium-pathogen:
- with dermatomycosis - for 3-4 weeks;
- with erythrasms - 0.5-1 month;

- candidal form of balanitis or vulvitis - for 7-14 days.
