Megamag is a magnesium medicine containing magnesium aspartate.
Indications of the megamaga
It is used to eliminate the lack of magnesium, against the background of which the appearance of such violations is noted:
- sensation of irritability, and in addition nervousness, a feeling of intense anxiety or fatigue, and in addition small sleep disorders;
- a state of anxiety, in which there are stomach cramps and increased heart rate in people who do not have heart disease;
- paresthesia and spasms in the muscles.
Release form
The preparation is produced in capsules, 20 pieces each inside a blister pack. In the box there are 2 such packages.
Pharmacodynamics
Magnesium is an intracellular cation, which, in its prevalence, ranks second after calcium. It is the cofactor of a variety of enzyme systems involved in certain biochemical processes within cells (such as protein binding, glycolysis, oxidation-type phosphorylation, and DNA transcription). Together with this, he is an important participant in the processes of ion flux formation, stabilization of cell walls and regulation of the level of calcium and potassium ions within cells. In addition, magnesium reduces the excitability of neurons and neuromuscular transmission.
The states of magnesium deficiency can be divided into average (the level inside the serum is 12-17 mg / l), as well as expressed (the index within the serum is below 12 mg / l).
The lack of magnesium can have this character:
- primary - caused by congenital problems with metabolism (chronic form of hypomagnesemia of an innate nature);
- Secondary - associated with insufficient intake of this element in the body (with alcoholism, severe malnutrition, and nutrition only parenteral), with a syndrome of insufficient absorption (diarrhea in chronic form, fistula inside the intestine and hypoparathyroidism) or with enhanced magnesium excretion (when polyuria, tubulopathy, pyelonephritis in chronic form, abuse of diuretics, primary hyperaldosteronism and cisplatin therapy).
Pharmacokinetics
Absorption of magnesium salts inside the gastrointestinal tract is carried out, among other things, by a passive mechanism, taking into account salt solubility. The absorption index of magnesium salts is not higher than 50%.
Excretion of magnesium mainly occurs through the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
To adults.
Take 4-6 capsules per day. This dosage is divided into several uses, and then applied together with the reception of food, washing down the capsules with a glass of plain water.
Children.
Children older than 6 years (and weighing more than 20 kg) are required to take a day for 2-4 capsules (divide the daily portion for several uses).
Take the drug is recommended for at least 1-2 months. With therapy in the case of certain pathological conditions (such as a syndrome of insufficient absorption or a magnesium deficiency of a primary nature), the course duration may increase taking into account medical indications.

Use of the megamaga during pregnancy
Special tests regarding the use of drugs during pregnancy have not been carried out, but in clinical conditions there was no negative toxic effect of magnesium on the fetus. Also, there was no development of any congenital anomalies. But, observing safety rules, it is recommended to prescribe magnesium funds to pregnant women only in cases when the need for their use has been proven. Therapy is carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
Since magnesium is excreted with breast milk, it is necessary to refuse Megamage when breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:
- the presence of high sensitivity for the active element or other components of drugs, especially in people with diagnosed allergies to wheat (except celiac disease);
- kidney failure in severe form (CC level is less than 30 ml / minute).

Side effects of the megamaga
There are data on the development of such side effects as abdominal pain and diarrhea.
Overdose
Because of poisoning, anuria may develop.
To eliminate the disorder, it is necessary to perform forced diuresis, as well as rehydration. With kidney failure, a peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis procedure is required.
Interactions with other drugs
It is forbidden to combine the medicine with quinidine, because this causes an increase in the toxic properties of the latter (due to the fact that its excretion in the urine is weakened).
Magnesium compounds have an antagonistic effect on calcium compounds.
When a combination of magnesium drugs with tetracycline, iron drugs, as well as sodium fluoride, the absorption of the above elements is weakened. If the drug is combined with antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic and CNS-suppressing medications, potentiation of their properties is noted.
Storage conditions
Megamag must be kept in a place inaccessible to small children. The temperature level is not more than 25 ° С.
Shelf life
Megamag can be used for 3 years from the date of release of the drug.
Application for children
The medicine is not prescribed for children under 6 years of age.
Analogues
The analogues of the medicine are the drugs Panangin, Asparcum and Asparcum-Farmak, and besides Magnesium B6 and Magnelis B6.
