Megaplex has antiestrogenic properties.
Indications Megaplex
It is used in the treatment of hormone-dependent tumors, inoperable cancer in the endometrium, and also breast cancer that has begun to metastasize.

Release form
The release is carried out in tablets, in the amount of 10 pieces inside a blister pack. In a box - 3 such blisters.
Pharmacodynamics
Megestrol acetate has a pronounced antiestrogenic effect.
Megaplex is a synthetic steroid drug whose mechanism of therapeutic action has not yet been fully studied. There is evidence that it is similar in bioactivity to progesterone (a female sex hormone), but has an effect only when taken orally.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is perfectly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The processes of metabolism of the active element occur through hydrolysis and glucuronidation. Metabolic products are mainly excreted with urine, and the remainder - with feces. The half-life of the component is about 15 hours.
Dosing and administration
The medicine should be taken orally. The duration of treatment and the regimen are selected by the attending physician.
During breast cancer therapy, the medication is prescribed in a daily dose of 160 mg. The dose can be divided into several doses (no more than 4).
For the treatment of endometrial cancer, the medicine is taken in a daily dose of 40-320 mg. The dosage is divided into 3-4 uses.
To determine the effectiveness of the treatment, it is necessary to take the drug for at least 2 months. Sometimes it is enough for the patient to take the minimum effective doses of the drug.
Use Megaplex during pregnancy
The medicine is prohibited to be prescribed to pregnant and lactating women. Or, during the period of taking the medicine, it is necessary to stop breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- the presence of intolerance to the components of the drug;
- people who suffer from kidney failure, as well as severe cardiac dysfunction;
- thrombophlebitis, thromboembolism or thrombosis;
- if the patient has vaginal bleeding of unknown origin.
Side effects Megaplex
Use of the drug may result in the following side effects:
- vomiting with nausea, a feeling of apathy, and severe fatigue;
- hemorrhage, thrombophlebitis, and pulmonary embolism;
- increased appetite and weight gain;
- decreased libido and dyspnea;
- swelling, blood flow to the epidermis, melasma and hair loss;
- menstrual irregularities, hyperglycemia, and in addition galactorrhea and breast tension;
- carpal tunnel syndrome;
- adrenal suppression.

Overdose
Even in case of acute intoxication with the drug (consumption of a portion of 1.6 g), no negative symptoms are observed. The drug has virtually no toxic properties.
Storage conditions
Megaplex must be stored in a dry place, out of reach of children. Temperature marks – within the range of 15-25°C.
Shelf life
Megaplex can be used for 5 years from the date of manufacture of the drug.
Application for children
Megaplex is not intended for use in children.
Analogues
An analogue of the drug is Depo-Provera.
