Release form

Magurol is a tablet with an active ingredient of doxazosin mesylate. Tablets are dosed at 2 and 4 mg. The color of the tablets is white, the shape is round, flattened. On the one hand there is a notch for the possibility of dosing the drug.

The blister plate contains 10 tablets, and the package consists of two blister plates in a cardboard box.

Pharmacodynamics

Magurol is a selective competitive blocker of postsynaptic alpha 1- adrenoreceptors. The drug contributes to the expansion of the peripheral vascular bed - this, in turn, provokes a decrease in OPSS and blood pressure.

The action of Magurol leads to an increase in the coefficient of total cholesterol - HDL cholesterol, as well as a decrease in the total number of triglycerides with cholesterol.

Against the backdrop of prolonged treatment with the drug, reverse development of hypertrophic changes in the left ventricle is detected, platelet aggregation is suppressed, and the content of plasminogen stimulant in tissue structures increases.

The blocking of alpha 1- adrenoreceptors, which are located in the stroma and capsule of the prostate, in the isthmus of the bladder activates a decrease in resistance and pressure in the urethra, as well as similar processes in the urethra.

Magurol stabilizes urological dynamics and eliminates signs of benign proliferation of the prostate.

Pharmacokinetics

After internal reception there is a qualitative absorption of a preparation: its level in a blood plasma becomes as much as possible already after 2 hours after the use of a tablet.

From the plasma, Magurol is excreted in two stages, and the final half-life is 22 hours. This property allows one to take the pill once a day.

With impaired renal function, no significant features were observed in the kinetics of the drug.

The metabolism of the drug is mainly carried out in the liver, therefore, with pathological changes of this organ, Magurol is used very carefully.

About 98% of the active component forms a bond with the plasma proteins.

Metabolism occurs mainly through O-demethylation and hydroxylation.
