Aerophilin is a bronchodilating drug.
[1]
Indications Aerofillin
The medicine is prescribed for the treatment of bronchial asthma.
Also, the drug can be shown in the complex treatment of obstructive pulmonary pathology in a chronic form, and in addition to other diseases in which spasms of smooth muscles of the bronchi are observed (for example, with pulmonary emphysema).
Release form
Produced in the form of tablets. One blister contains 10 tablets. One package contains 1 or 2 blister plates.
Pharmacodynamics
Doxofillin is the active substance of the drug. It inhibits PDE enzymes, thereby increasing the level of cAMP within the cells, and in addition, slowing the synthesis of actin along with myosin. As a result of the use of doxophylline, bronchodilation develops, caused by a slowing down of the contractile activity of the smooth musculature of the bronchi.
Aerophilin stimulates the exceptionally smooth musculature of the pulmonary vessels, as well as the bronchi, without affecting other vessels with the heart, and besides this kidney and the central nervous system.
Pharmacokinetics
With a three-daily daily use of drugs, doxophylline is conserved in plasma in an effective drug concentration.
After ingestion, the active substance reaches a peak of plasma concentration after 1 hour. The indicator of its absolute bioavailability is 62-63%, and the synthesis numbers with plasma proteins are approximately 48%.
The half-life of the drug is 6 hours.
Excretion is carried out together with urine (approximately 4%), the substance is excreted unchanged.
Dosing and administration
Aerophillin is consumed inside, regardless of eating. If there is such a need, the tablet is allowed to divide. Duration of treatment, as well as dosages are prescribed by a doctor, depending on the characteristics of the patient's body, as well as the nature and severity of the pathology.
The adult dosage is 1 tablet 2-3 times a day (if necessary, dosage is allowed to be increased).
Children aged 6-12 years are prescribed 0.5 tablets 2-3 times per day. Children's daily dosage is usually calculated in a ratio of 12-18 mg / kg of the child's weight.

Use Aerofillin during pregnancy
Pregnant women doxophyllin is prescribed only in cases where the possible benefits for women at times exceed the risk of negative consequences for the child. During treatment with Aerofillin, pregnant women should be observed at the treating doctor.
If you can not do without the use of medication during the lactation period, you should stop breastfeeding for the duration of the course of treatment. Resume breastfeeding is allowed after the drug has been taken and after consultation with the doctor in charge.
Contraindications
Among the main contraindications to the use of Aerofillin:
- individual intolerance of the active substance of the drug, as well as xanthine derivatives;
- the presence of galactosemia, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose in patients;
- patients with myocardial infarction in acute form, as well as having significantly lower blood pressure (systolic blood pressure is less than 90 mm);
- children age less than 6 years.
With special care, it is required to prescribe doxophylline when the patient has a chronic form of heart failure.
In addition, you should carefully prescribe the drug to people suffering from high blood pressure, cardiopathy, oxygen starvation, chronic ventricular failure (right ventricle), arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, and besides hyperthyroidism. Cautiously appoint and elderly patients.
Caution is also required when using doxophylline in patients with disorders in the kidney / liver, and in addition hyperthermia or peptic ulcer, or suffering from alcoholism.
Side effects Aerofillin
As a result of taking medication, there are sometimes such adverse reactions:
- Gastrointestinal organs: pain and discomfort in epigastrium, GERD, stool disorder, nausea with vomiting, dyspeptic manifestations;
- organs of the central nervous system and PNS: disorder of wakefulness and sleep regimes, emotional weakness, headaches and dizziness, a feeling of increased irritability and tremor;
- organs of the cardiovascular and hematopoietic systems: development of extrasystole, sensation of heart rhythm, increased plasma glucose concentration;
- allergies: angioedema, hives, and anaphylaxis;
- Other: rapid breathing, as well as proteinuria.
In case of side effects, consult your doctor.

Overdose
An overdose of doxophyllin can trigger arrhythmia, clonic or tonic convulsions, exacerbate an eruptive state or diuresis, and in addition, the severity of side effects of drugs.
There is no specific antidote for eliminating symptoms. In case of poisoning with doxophylline it is necessary to cancel the drug intake, and then do gastric lavage and give the patient enterosorbents. In addition, procedures are performed that support cardiac function. In case of seizures, the reception of symptomatic medicines is indicated.
After eliminating the overdose, Aerofillin can be resumed treatment.
Interactions with other drugs
During treatment with Aerofillin should limit the use of food, as well as beverages and medications that contain caffeine.
Contraindicated combine doxophylline with other xanthines.
Caution should be given to Aerofillin at the same time as sympathomimetic drugs.
The half-life of the active component of the drug may increase due to a compound with lincomycin or erythromycin, and in addition cimetidine, clindamycin, allopurinol and troleandomycin, as well as propranolol, fluvoxamine and influenza vaccine. Also with disulfiram, oral contraceptives and interferon alfa. In such cases, dosage adjustment of Aerofillin is required.
In patients taking anticonvulsants (among them phenytoin), and in addition ritonavir and rifampicin with sulfinpyrazone, and with it active smokers, when they combine these drugs with Aerofillin, the half-life of the latter decreases - in this case, a dose adjustment of doxofillin is also needed.
The compound with doxophylline can enhance the toxic properties of ephedrine, halothane, and ketamine.
The drug weakens the effectiveness of adenosine, lithium drugs and other drugs that are blockers of neuromuscular transmission.
Due to the use of Aerofillin, hypokalemia can be increased, caused by oxygen starvation or the use of β2-adrenoreceptor agonists, diuretics, and corticosteroids.
It is forbidden to connect the drug with β-blockers.
Storage conditions
It is necessary to keep the medication under the conditions, standard for medicinal preparations - a dry, dark place, inaccessible to children. The temperature is a maximum of 25 degrees.
Shelf life
Aerofillin is allowed to be used for 3 years from the date of manufacture of the medicine.
