Garazon is a combined anti-inflammatory and antiallergic agent used topically for ophthalmic diseases of an infectious nature.
Indications Garazon
Garazon is recommended for blepharitis, conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, dacryocystitis, episcleritis, uveitis, iridocyclitis, retinitis, meibomite and eye injuries (including radiation, thermal and chemical burns). The drug can be used in the treatment of acute and chronic external otitis media: complicated microbial dermatitis and eczema of the external auditory canal and auricle.
Pharmacodynamics
Therapeutic action Garazon is provided by two active substances: the antibiotic group of aminoglycosides with gentamicin and corticosteroid betamethasone.
Gentamicin is active in infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Neisseria spp, etc. It acts bactericidal, penetrating the cell membrane of microorganisms and violating the process of protein synthesis in them.
Synthetic fluorinated glucocorticoid (GCS) betamethasone relieves local inflammation and allergic reaction due to inhibition of the formation and release from the mast cells of mediators of the inflammatory reaction and a decrease in the movement of immunocompetent cells into the lesion focus. The antiexudative effect of betamethasone is due to narrowing of the lumen of the blood vessels and a decrease in the permeability of their walls.
Dosing and administration
For ophthalmic diseases, drops of Garazon should be injected, pulling the eyelid, into the space between the eyeball and the eyelid (subconjunctivally) - one to two drops up to four times a day. In cases of acute inflammation, the drug should be used every 2-3 hours. The standard duration of treatment is two weeks, but if the effect of treatment is not observed after 8-10 days, use of the drug should be discontinued.
In the treatment of external otitis, three drops of the drug are instilled three times a day. It is also possible to insert into the ear canal moistened with drops of turunda (with the replacement once a day).
