Tazepam is classified as a psycholeptic medication based on benzodiazepine, which acts directly on the nervous system. The main ingredient of the drug is oxazepam.
Indications Tazepam
Tazepam is used to treat such pathological conditions:
- sleep disorders;
- neurotic states;
- disorders of psychosomatic functions;
- disorders of the autonomic nervous system caused by menopause or cyclic disorders in women;
- reactive depressive states.
Feelings of anxiety and anxiety associated with everyday and other daily problems, and not associated with any nervous or somatic disorders, can not be considered indications for taking Tazepam.
Release form
Tazepam - a tablet with a thin shell film, convex on both sides, light (almost white) color. The film, which is coated with tablets, has a smooth glossy appearance.
Each blister plate contains 25 pcs. Tablets. A cardboard bundle contains two blister plates.
The main ingredient of Tazepam is the substance-axiolytic oxazepam.

Pharmacodynamics
The drug belongs to a number of medications based on benzodiazepine. Tazepam has the potential to affect multiple CNS structures responsible for emotional perception - in particular, the limbic complex and the hypothalamus. Tazepam increases the inhibitory effect of the cerebellum, the thalamic and hypothalamic system, the hypocampus, the GABA -ergic nerve cells located in the cerebral cortex.
Degree of action Tazepam is dependent on the modulation of GABAergic receptor sensitivity. The result of stimulation of benzodiazepine receptors, or GABA-a is the increased transport of chlorine ions into the nerve cell through the chlorine channel. Such a process provokes an increased polarization of the cell wall, and, as a consequence, a weakening of the activity of the nerve cell.
The result of the drug exposure is manifested in antiphobic and a small sedative effect. Tazepam relaxes skeletal muscles, while demonstrating anticonvulsant properties.
Pharmacokinetics
The main ingredient of the drug is well absorbed by the digestive system. Its bioavailability can be about 92%. When administered orally 30 mg of the main ingredient of oxazepam, the limiting level in the bloodstream is detected after 3 hours, and reaches 450 ng / ml.
The active ingredient binds to plasma proteins up to 85%. Overcomes the placenta, the blood-brain barrier, is found in the composition of breast milk.
Duration of half-life of the drug is up to 8.2 hours.
Biological transformation (metabolism) occurs in the liver. Inactive product-metabolite is excreted from the body with urinary fluid.
Dosing and administration
The general scheme of treatment with Tazepam does not exist, since the drug is prescribed strictly according to individual indications.
- Adult patients with Tazepam may be assigned:
- at psychoses on 10-30 mg up to 4 times a day;
- with sleep disorders of 10-30 mg for 60 minutes before the expected retirement (provided further continuous full-fledged 8-hour sleep).
- Elderly, the dosage of tazepam should be reduced, and be about 10 mg three times a day.
- Patients with insufficient liver function Tazepam is prescribed very carefully, starting with extremely low doses.
The total duration of treatment with the drug, including its gradual cancellation, is 2-4 weeks. It's impossible to stop taking Tazepam abruptly, because the syndrome of "cancellation" occurs.
Sometimes a doctor can make adjustments to the therapeutic scheme: lengthen or shorten the course of treatment, change the dosage.
Tazepam is taken orally, with a small amount of liquid. It is recommended to start treatment with small amounts of the drug, if necessary, increasing the dosage.
Use Tazepam during pregnancy
Admission Tazepam during the first three months of pregnancy can have a negative effect on the fetus, and therefore is contraindicated.
Admission Tazepam during the third trimester can lead to the appearance of the child signs of respiratory failure, low temperature and low blood pressure.
If the mother took tazepam during pregnancy, a newborn baby may experience drug dependence, up to the development of withdrawal syndrome.
Studies have shown that the drug is able to penetrate into the milk during lactation, so you need to weigh all the risks and decide with the doctor the possibility of giving up the drug for the time of breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Tazepam can not be used:
- with signs of high sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug;
- with signs of respiratory failure, regardless of etiology;
- at night stops of respiration (apnea);
- with severe forms of liver or kidney disease;
- at a closed angle glaucoma;
- in the acute form of porphyria;
- with myasthenia gravis;
- with the syndrome of obsessive thoughts, chronic course of psychotic disorders;
- at a chronic alcoholism, an intoxication with barbiturates or other medicines, capable to oppress the central nervous system;
- for treatment of children under 6 years.

Side effects Tazepam
The clinical picture of adverse events depends on the regimen of treatment and dosage of tazepam.
On the background of therapy, the following side effects can be detected:
- changes in the picture of blood, leukopenia;
- drowsiness, inhibition, disorders of consciousness and orientation, myasthenia gravis, pain in the head;
- memory disorders, changes in libido;
- deterioration of vision, double vision;
- dyspepsia, thirst, impaired salivation;
- dysuria, enuresis;
- trembling and weakness of the musculature;
- deterioration of appetite;
- small hypotension;
- feeling of general weakness;
- allergic manifestations;
- jaundice, worsening of liver function;
- disorders of the menstrual cycle in women;
- feelings of anxiety, irritability right up to aggressiveness, nightmares, delirious states.
Adverse symptoms occur mainly in people who consume alcohol, as well as in elderly and mentally unbalanced patients.
Sudden abolition of the drug may trigger a so-called "cancellation" syndrome, which manifests itself in the form of noise in the ears, headache, confusion, paresthesia, abdominal pain, and vomiting.
The most serious side effect may be the development of a depressed state with suicidal tendencies.
Overdose
Overdose with Tazepam can be accompanied by the following symptoms:
- fatigue, drowsiness;
- violation of orientation;
- obscurity of diction;
- blurred consciousness, until the development of a coma.
If you take both Tazepam and alcoholic beverages at the same time, you can provoke an intoxication of the body.
At intoxication apply any methods for the speedy removal of the drug from the bloodstream. Of the most effective measures use gastric lavage, ingestion of sorbent preparations, provoking of a vomiting reflex (if the victim is conscious). Be sure to monitor the work of all organs: measure the pulse, blood pressure, control breathing. If necessary, treatment is performed according to the detected symptoms.
There is a specific drug-antidote - it is flumazenil.
If an overdose of Tazepam was deliberately designed, then when providing first aid, you should make sure that the patient did not take additional, other drugs.
Interactions with other drugs
The action of tazepam is enhanced by opioids, general anesthetics, psychotropic drugs, drugs with antidepressant and antiepileptic activity, antihistamines and antihypertensives. Simultaneous administration of opioids and tazepam is able to cause euphoria and dependence on drugs.
The simultaneous use of tazepam with alcohol can lead to overexcitement and aggression.
The action of tazepam may be weakened by theophylline and caffeine.
Tazepam neutralizes the effect of levodopa and other similar drugs.
Estrogen-containing drugs can accelerate the course of metabolic processes after taking Tazepam.
Combined reception with antiviral agents (zidovudine, ritonavir) lowers the clearance of Tazepam.
The action of drugs that lower blood pressure, increases with the simultaneous administration of Tazepam.
Rifampicin accelerates the metabolic processes and the excretion of the body of Tazepam.
The sedative effect of tazepam is enhanced by the action of baclofen.
Pharmacological properties of tazepam may vary under the influence of phenobarbital, carbamazepine, cimetidine, ketoconazole, erythromycin.
