Vaginal Suppository Yodoxide

Suppositories Yodoxide, like other drugs in this form, are the most convenient way to "deliver" the active substance directly to the affected area.

This form of release has several advantages, in comparison with creams or vaginal tablets:

  • thanks to a soft base, the suppository smoothly covers the entire mucous membrane of the vagina, and the active substance is evenly distributed over the surface
  • iodine suppository softens the mucous membrane and flushes the pathogenic flora from the vagina
  • candles do not damage the mucous membrane upon administration (as opposed to tablets)

Pharmacodynamics

Iodide is a complex of iodine and polyvinylpromidone (PVP), which releases iodine for a certain time after application to the skin or mucous membranes.

Iodine has a powerful bactericidal effect, has a broad antimicrobial effect, destroys viruses and protozoan microorganisms.

Upon contact with the skin or mucous membranes, PVP releases a significant amount of iodine, which reacts with proteins of the pathogenic flora and destroys them.

Most of the pathogenic microorganisms die in the first minutes after iodine hits the skin or mucous, while iodine loses its rich brown color.

With prolonged use of the drug in pathogenic microorganisms, resistance to the active substance does not develop.

When the thyroid gland is working normally, the drug does not cause an increase in iodine reserves and does not affect the hormonal background.

After vaginal administration, the elimination half-life is approximately 48 hours. It is excreted from the body mainly by the kidneys.
