Pharmacodynamics
Betazone contains an active element of artificial GCS – the substance betamethasone valerate. It has a local anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous and anti-allergic effect. It demonstrates high GCS activity even in the case of weak development of mineralocorticoid influence.
Slows down the accumulation of anti-inflammatory mediators and leukocytes inside the inflammation site. Suppresses phagocytosis, strengthens capillary strength, prevents the development of inflammatory edema and inhibits neovascularization.
Combinations of different compositions have been developed, thanks to which therapy for dermatological pathologies becomes differentiated. Combination with gentametacin (aminoglycoside) in the drug Betazon Plus allows treating dermatoses, against which a secondary infection develops.
The complex remedy Betazone Ultra, in addition to the two above-mentioned elements, contains the antimycotic substance clotrimazole. The drug has fungicidal properties and is effective in dermatomycosis (in the area of the feet or groin) and versicolor lichen, which are complicated by a secondary infection.
Pharmacokinetics
Systemic absorption is possible only with prolonged use on large areas of the epidermis, as well as with the use of sealed dressings. After 72 hours, 4.8% and 7.4% of the substance are excreted in the feces and urine.
Dosing and administration
The cream is intended for external treatment - it is applied to the affected area in a thin layer, 1-3 times a day (a more precise number is determined by the doctor), gently rubbing into the epidermis. When the skin condition improves, it is necessary to reduce the frequency of use of the drug or switch to GCS, which has a weaker effect.
The cream should not be used for a long time (longer than 2-3 months). It is also prohibited to cover the area treated with the medicine with hermetic bandages.
Betazone is often used for oozing, oily skin, and also in acute stages of diseases.
Betazone Plus application scheme.
Twice a day, you need to treat the affected area with a thin layer of the medicine, gently rubbing the cream into it. In areas from which the cream can easily be rubbed off, or where the skin is dense, the treatment should be carried out more often.
Continuous therapy can be carried out for no more than 4 weeks. After the symptoms of the disease have been eliminated, the treatment continues for another 4-5 days, with a reduction in the dosage of the cream and the frequency of its use. Repeated treatment cycles are allowed for 12 months.
Betazone Ultra usage mode.
The affected area should be treated twice a day with a thin layer of cream. For the therapy to be effective, the medication should be used regularly. If there is no improvement after 3 weeks of using the cream, it is necessary to clarify the diagnosis.
Creams should be applied to the skin of the face with caution, avoiding contact with the eyes. It is also necessary to avoid prolonged use of Betazone.

Use Betasone during pregnancy
Since there is no information on the safety of topical corticosteroids for pregnant women, the use of the drug in the 1st trimester is prohibited. Such drugs are allowed to be prescribed only at later stages, and only in cases where the probable benefit is more likely than the development of negative consequences for the fetus. Medicines from this category are prohibited for use in pregnant women on large areas, in high doses, for a long time, or under hermetic dressings.
It has not yet been established whether the drug element, when used locally as a corticosteroid, is able to enter the mother's milk after systemic absorption. Therefore, when assessing the need to discontinue the drug or stop breastfeeding, it is necessary to take into account the importance of the therapy for the woman.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- the presence of severe intolerance to medicinal components;
- viral infections developing in the epidermis;
- perioral dermatitis;
- rosacea;
- cutaneous syphilis or tuberculosis.
For the treatment of dermatoses complicated by fungal or bacterial infections, other betamethasone medications mentioned above are used.
Side effects Betasone
The use of the cream may lead to the appearance of certain side effects:
- hypertrichosis;
- a burning or irritating sensation, as well as itching;
- peeling and dryness of the epidermis;
- skin atrophy;
- the occurrence of acne;
- development of hypopigmentation, folliculitis or perioral dermatitis;
- cutaneous maceration;
- the appearance of telangiectasias;
- When using occlusive dressings, secondary infections sometimes develop.
Overdose
Long-term use of the cream may provoke the development of symptoms of hypercorticism: increased blood sugar levels, suppression of the function of the adrenal cortex, and the development of Cushingoid.
To eliminate these symptoms, it is necessary to gradually discontinue the drug and perform symptomatic procedures (correction of blood pressure and electrolyte balance). Manifestations of hypercorticism are reversible.

Storage conditions
Betazone can be kept at temperatures ranging from 10-20°C.
Shelf life
Betazone can be used for 24 months from the date of release of the therapeutic drug.
Application for children
There is no clinical data regarding the use of the cream in children. For this reason, it cannot be prescribed to people in this age group.
Since a child has a higher body surface area to weight ratio than an adult, the cream is absorbed more actively. In this regard, children are more likely to have HPA suppression under the influence of corticosteroids, as well as to develop exogenous corticosteroid manifestations.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug are Beloderm with Diprospan, and also Akriderm and Flosteron with Betliben. Substances containing gentamicin are Garazon, Tselederm with gentamicin, Akriderm Genta and Belogent. Products containing clotrimazole and gentamicin: Canison Plus and Akriderm GK with Triderm.
Reviews
Betazone is a drug with powerful medicinal activity. Such corticosteroids must be used under constant supervision of a doctor, especially in cases where the drug is used on large skin surfaces.
The medication has high tolerability. Patients note in their reviews that for most diseases, stabilization of the condition occurs after 1-2 treatments with the cream per day; the development of remission is already recorded by the 5th-9th day.
