Pharmacodynamics
Valeriana forte can be used for a long time, despite the fact that the drug has the property of accumulating in the body: over time, the effect of the tablets may change. The main properties of the drug are considered to be tonic and sedative. Valeriana forte slows down the excitability processes in the nervous system, promotes relaxation of smooth muscles, and also has a mild choleretic effect.
The action of the drug can be explained by the presence of an essential component in it – an ester of borneol alcohol and 3-methylbutanoic acid.
Calming properties have also been found in alkaloids and valepotriates: chotinine and valerine.
Khotinin and valerin, among other things, exhibit a mild antispasmodic effect.
