Release form

Valerian Fort is produced in the form of tablets with shell coating. One such tablet contains in its composition 0.04 g of thick extract from the valerian root. In addition, the preparation contains lactose, vegetable oil, calcium stearate, magnesium carbonate, talc and other substances.

The color of Valerian forte tablets is yellow, the shape is round-convex. The break of the tablet clearly visualizes the presence of two layers.

Valerian Fort is packed in blister plates, 10 tablets in each plate. The cardboard box contains 5 similar plates, as well as a detailed annotation for the use of the drug.

Pharmacodynamics

Valerian fort can be used for a long time, despite the fact that the drug has the property of accumulating in the body: over time, the action of tablets can change. The main properties of the drug are tonic and sedative. Valerian forte slows the processes of excitability in the nervous system, favors the relaxation of smooth muscles, and also has a slight choleretic effect.

The effect of the drug can be explained by the presence in it of the ether component - the alcohol ester of borneol and 3-methylbutanoic acid.

Soothing abilities are also found in alkaloids and valepotriates: hotinin and valerine.

Khotinin and valerin, among other things, show an indiscriminate spasmolytic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

The kinetic properties of Valerian forte preparation have not been studied enough, which does not allow to determine the activity of the active ingredient of medicinal tablets in an exact manner.

It is known that after the internal use of the Valerian pill pill, the limiting content of active substances in the bloodstream is observed after about an hour and a half.

Pharmacokinetic properties do not change with frequent and prolonged use of the medication.

Dosing and administration

Valerian forte is recommended to take in such dosages:

• adult patients and children under 12 years of age - from one to two tablets three times a day;
• children from 6 years of age - 1 tablet three times a day;
• children up to 6 years of age - according to an individual scheme appointed by the pediatrician.

Tablet Valerian forte is swallowed in its entirety, not crushing or chewing. Take medicine better after eating. The duration of the course of admission is determined individually.

Use Valerian forte during pregnancy

Valerian Fort is not on the list of toxic drugs. Nevertheless, the use of the drug in pregnancy is not recommended, since adequate studies on this issue by scientists have not been conducted.

Valerian Fort is able to potentiate the effect of some other drugs, namely:

• drugs on an alcohol basis, alcoholic beverages;
• sedatives;
• barbiturates;
• anesthetics;
• antispasmodics;
