The urologic agent Urovaks (Uro-Vaks, Uro-vaccom) is widely used as a preventive and curative drug for infections of the urinary system.
Indications of the urovaksa
Urovaks can be used as part of combination therapy and to prevent the development of repeated episodes of chronic infectious diseases of the urinary system - and especially cystitis, regardless of the etiologic origin of the pathogen.
Urovaks is combined with antibiotics and antiseptic drugs as a therapeutic agent for adult patients and children after 4 years.
Release form
Urovaks is a dense capsule of gelatin, with an orange lid and a yellowish body. The capsule contains a powdery substance of a yellowish-brownish hue.
The cardboard box contains three blister plates, 10 pieces of capsules in each plate.
The main ingredient of Urovaks is the microorganisms of Escherichia coli: each capsule contains 6 mg of bacteria.
Pharmacodynamics
Urovaks stimulates the immune defense of the body, using the following mechanisms:
- stimulation of T-lymphocytes;
- induction of endogenous interferon production;
- increase in the level of immunoglobulin A (IgA), including in the urinary fluid.
Escherichia coli is a kind of gram-negative rod microorganisms belonging to facultative anaerobes, which are present in the healthy microflora of the human gastrointestinal system.
The strain of Escherichia is recognized as one of the most effective probiotics, which is able to inhibit the development of the inflammatory process and prevent its recurrence.
Pharmacokinetics
The kinetic properties of Urovaks have not been studied.
Dosing and administration
Urovaks should be taken every day, in the morning, on an empty stomach - to the normalization of the condition, but not less than ten days.
The maximum duration of Urovaks therapy is 12 weeks.
As a preventive measure, Urovaks take one capsule before breakfast for 12 weeks.
In pediatrics, the capsule can be pre-opened and mixed with liquids (juice, milk, etc.).
The question of the possibility of applying a repeated course of taking Urovaks is decided by the doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
Use of the urovaksa during pregnancy
At the moment there is no information about the clinical trials of Urovaks during pregnancy.
Earlier, appropriate tests were conducted on experimental animals. In the course of the research, there was no negative effect of Urovax on the period of gestation, on fetal development.
Given the lack of reliable reliable information, we can not recommend Urovaks for use during pregnancy and lactation. The decision concerning the possibility of using the medication in these periods is made by the attending physician.
Contraindications
Urovaks is well tolerated by the human body, therefore practically has no contraindications. A relative contraindication is the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding. Absolute contraindication is the patient's hypersensitivity to the ingredients of Urovaks.
Side effects of the urovaksa
When taking Urovaks, adverse events are recorded in no more than 4% of cases. Among the negative symptoms most often observed:
- diarrhea, nausea, unpleasant sensation in the abdomen;
- pain in the head;
- slight increase in temperature;
- allergic rashes.
If there are any undesirable symptoms associated with taking Urovaks, it is necessary to suspend treatment and seek medical advice from the treating doctor.

Interactions with other drugs
