The urological drug Urovax (Uro-Vax, Uro-vaxom) is widely used as a preventive and therapeutic drug for urinary tract infections.
Indications Urovax
Urovax can be used as part of combination therapy and to prevent the development of repeated episodes of chronic infectious diseases of the urinary system - and especially cystitis, regardless of the etiology of the pathogen.
Urovax is combined with antibiotics and antiseptic drugs as a treatment for adult patients and children over 4 years of age.
Release form
Urovax is a dense gelatin capsule with an orange cap and a yellowish body. The capsule contains a powdery substance of a yellowish-brown hue.
The cardboard box contains three blister packs, 10 capsules in each pack.
The main ingredient of Urovax is Escherichia coli microorganisms: each capsule contains 6 mg of bacteria.
Pharmacodynamics
Urovax stimulates the body's immune defense using the following mechanisms:
- T-lymphocyte stimulation;
- induction of endogenous interferon production;
- increased levels of immunoglobulin A (IgA), including in urine.
Escherichia coli is a type of Gram-negative rod-shaped microorganism belonging to facultative anaerobes that are present in the healthy microflora of the human gastrointestinal system.
The Escherichia coli strain is recognized as one of the most effective probiotics, which is capable of inhibiting the development of the inflammatory process and preventing its relapse.
Pharmacokinetics
The kinetic properties of Urovax have not been studied.
Dosing and administration
Urovax should be taken every day, in the morning, on an empty stomach - until the condition is normalized, but not less than ten days.
The maximum duration of therapy with Urovax is 12 weeks.
As a preventative measure, take one capsule of Urovax before breakfast for 12 weeks.
In pediatrics, preliminary opening of the capsule and mixing of the contents with liquids (juice, milk, etc.) is allowed.
The question of the possibility of using a repeated course of Urovax is decided by the doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
