The basis of psoriasis pathogenesis is considered to be a failure in the differentiation and division of skin cells, as well as a violation of local and general metabolism. This occurs for a number of reasons that have not yet been fully studied. Since vitamins are direct participants in metabolic processes, their full presence in the body is simply necessary. For this reason, vitamins for psoriasis are prescribed in combination with general treatment: this approach allows you to fight the disease more successfully.

Indications vitamins for psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic disease, so taking vitamins for psoriasis is not only possible, but also very necessary. Useful vitamin components will help strengthen the skin layers and skin appendages, and also improve metabolism, which is disrupted in the process of pathology.

Vitamins for psoriasis make their own adjustments to the biochemical reactions that occur inside the body. They should not be taken randomly, but strictly according to the doctor's prescription, since incorrect or excessive use of such drugs can worsen the course of the disease.

In mild cases of psoriasis, vitamins that enter the body with food may be sufficient. If the doctor deems it necessary, he will prescribe complex or individual vitamin preparations.

So what vitamins should you take for psoriasis?

All vitamins recommended for use in psoriasis can be divided into two categories:

  1. Vitamins from the fat-soluble series, which include lecithin, retinol (vit. A), tocopherol (vit. E), cholecalciferol (vit. D).
  2. Water-soluble vitamins: B vitamins, vitamin C, folic acid.

Release form

  • The most convenient and common form of vitamins for psoriasis patients is considered to be tablets. They are simple and easy to take, and their shelf life is usually the longest.
  • An alternative to convenient tablets are capsules – as a rule, fat-soluble vitamins are produced in capsules.
  • Powder form is an equally convenient, but rarely used form of vitamin preparations.
  • Solutions for oral and injection use: available in ampoules and vials, sometimes with a solvent.

Names of essential vitamins for psoriasis

Vitamins for psoriasis are prescribed according to different treatment regimens. In severe cases, injections of drugs are possible, in relatively mild cases - oral administration. The standard treatment course lasts at least a month: in addition to vitamins in capsules, tablets or injections, a vitamin-rich diet should be followed.

Vitamin D will be of real benefit for psoriasis, as it has the following properties:

  • accelerates the healing of tissues affected by psoriasis;
  • improves calcium and phosphorus metabolism;
  • improves the absorption of microelements;
  • in combination with other vitamins helps strengthen the immune system.

Patients can take vitamin D for psoriasis internally or use it as an external ointment (for example, Calcipotriol can be applied topically).

Vitamin D is synthesized inside the body under the influence of UV radiation. In addition, this substance is contained in:

  • in milk, butter;
  • in sea fish;
  • in oatmeal;
  • in vegetable oils;
  • in egg yolks.
  • Only a doctor can prescribe B vitamins for psoriasis, since it is difficult to determine the dosage of such vitamins on your own.
    • Vitamin B1 helps to correct metabolic reactions, improve the function of the nervous system, activate endocrine processes and the performance of brain cells. Vitamin B1 can also be obtained from food. It is found in large quantities in meat, liver, nuts and seeds, and cereals.
    • Vitamin B2 for psoriasis not only stimulates metabolism, but also helps tissues renew and recover. Vitamin B2 is usually administered intramuscularly, but a large amount of it can also be obtained from foods: mushrooms, white meat, cottage cheese and hard cheeses.
    • Vitamin B6 is especially useful for psoriasis. Its main properties are stimulation of lipid and amino acid metabolism processes, activation of hormone synthesis and improvement of hemoglobin quality, restoration of nerve cells. In addition, vitamin B6 removes excess cholesterol from the bloodstream. The vitamin can be used in the form of intramuscular injections, as well as with food: nuts, fish, white meat.
    • Vitamin B12 performs a number of important functions in psoriasis: it helps the blood-forming processes, stabilizes the nervous system, and improves liver function. As a rule, vitamin B12 is prescribed by injection in combination with calcium gluconate. Additionally, useful substances can be obtained from meat products and liver, or from fish.
  • Vitamin E is simply irreplaceable for psoriasis:
    • It is considered a natural antioxidant;
    • improves oxygen supply to tissues;
    • accelerates skin regeneration.

The standard intake of vitamin E is orally, 300-400 IU. It is recommended to combine vitamins E and A.

Additional amounts of vitamin E can be obtained from food: nuts, berries, dried fruits, vegetable oils, fish, and cereals.

Ointments with vitamin D for psoriasis

External preparations with vitamins are very common. They are applied directly to the lesions affected by psoriasis.

Similar preparations include ointments with vitamin D "Daivonex" and "Psorkutan", represented by the active ingredient calcipotriol - a synthetic analogue of natural vitamin D3. The listed ointments inhibit the proliferation of keratinocytes and accelerate their morphological differentiation - and this property is considered the main one in the treatment of psoriasis.

Calcipotriol has a much smaller effect on calcium metabolism than vitamin D3. Ointments are applied to the skin in the morning and at night. The effect is detected within 10-12 days of treatment.

Ointments with vitamin D are not compatible on the same skin area with preparations containing salicylic acid.

Vitamin A for nail psoriasis externally

Vitamin A can be used not only internally, but also externally - in the form of applications and creams, which increases its benefits several times. Due to its molecular weight, vitamin A is able to penetrate well into the underlying epidermal layers, which promotes accelerated tissue restoration.

Retinol is a component of many cosmetic and medicinal creams and ointments. This vitamin substance replenishes collagen reserves in the skin and promotes its regeneration.

Vitamin A in the form of an oil solution can be purchased at a regular pharmacy. Applications with vitamin for psoriasis are applied regularly for 1-2 months, with a further break of 2-3 months. Such a course of treatment will allow you to achieve excellent results: nails will be cleaned, skin will tighten and smooth out.

It is not possible to constantly apply vitamin A externally: an excess of the substance is harmful to the body and can even cause an allergic reaction.

Complex course of vitamins for psoriasis

In any drugstore, pharmacists can offer complex vitamin preparations for patients with psoriasis. The most accessible and popular are three types of vitamin complexes.

  • Vitamin Revit for psoriasis is a high-quality combination of B vitamins, ascorbic acid and retinol. This complex helps strengthen the immune system, regulate the processes of basic metabolism, and improve blood circulation in tissues.

Revit for psoriasis is taken twice a day - in the morning after breakfast and in the evening after dinner, 2 pills. If side effects occur - heart rhythm disturbances, indigestion, nausea, deterioration of the skin on the hands - then it is recommended to reduce the dose. If you are allergic to the vitamins that are part of the drug, you should not take it.

  • Decamevit for psoriasis helps to stabilize hormone production, speed up metabolic processes, which directly affects the quality of healing of psoriatic rashes. Decamevit is a full complex of vitamins necessary to combat psoriasis: these are vitamins of group B, vitamins A and E, ascorbic and folic acid, nicotinamide, rutin and methionine. The course of treatment consists of one month, during which it is recommended to take 1-2 tablets of the drug daily, during breakfast. If suspicious rashes or redness of the skin appear during treatment, then the drug should be discontinued.
  • Vitamins Undevit have a complex effect on psoriasis. The composition of the drug is represented by rutoside and nicotinamide, ascorbic acid, vitamins of groups B, A and E.

The optimal daily dose of Undevit for psoriasis is 1-2 tablets during breakfast. You should not start treatment with the drug if you have severe liver or kidney disease, or an allergy to the listed vitamins.

  • Aevit is considered one of the most common vitamin preparations prescribed for psoriasis. It can be taken for a relatively long time - up to 2-3 months. Aevit is represented by vitamins A and E, which are the main vitamins for psoriasis, as they improve local blood circulation and improve the condition of the skin. The optimal amount of the drug is 1-2 capsules daily.

Pharmacodynamics

A complex combination of vitamin nutrients allows to provide all the needs of a person suffering from psoriasis. Vitamins for psoriasis directly have a positive effect on tissue metabolism processes and strengthen general and local immunity.

Retinol (V. A) improves fat metabolism and cross-fat oxidation reactions, and also potentiates the metabolism of substances that participate in the structuring of epithelial tissues.

B vitamins eliminate signs of inflammation and tissue degeneration, enhance blood circulation, stabilize neuronal function and the overall acid-base balance, and participate in all metabolic processes.

Ascorbic acid is an active participant in oxidative and reductive biological processes. Vitamin C directly affects collagen production and the formation of cell structure, the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, the quality of red blood cells, and the biological synthesis of catecholamines. Ascorbic acid deactivates the negative effects of free radicals and protects cell membranes from the harmful effects of cross-oxidation processes.

Tocopherol is a vitamin for maintaining youthfulness of the skin and appendages, restores elasticity and moisture to tissues.

Pharmacokinetics

Metabolic transformation of retinol occurs in the liver, after which the substance is released into the blood serum. Transportation occurs due to globulins and prealbumins, preventing filtration of the drug by the kidneys.

Thiamine (in B1) is absorbed in the duodenum and small intestine. Distribution in tissues is good. The process of thiamine phosphorylation is observed in the liver, and in the urine it is detected only in a residual form.

Riboflavin (B2) is absorbed in the small intestine. Its phosphorylation to the active state is observed in the intestinal walls, liver and inside erythrocytes. About 9% of the amount of riboflavin taken is found in urine.

Ascorbic acid is absorbed in the intestinal cavity. The absorbed vitamin is transported by plasma and accumulates in glandular tissues. The level of ascorbic acid in tissues and blood cells is many times higher than the level of the drug in the blood serum.

Use vitamins for psoriasis during pregnancy

Pregnant women need to be careful of both vitamin deficiency and excess. Both can have an extremely negative impact on the fetus and the health of the future baby.

Taking regular vitamin complexes during pregnancy is not recommended - unless the doctor insists on taking them. As a rule, special vitamin preparations are provided for pregnant and lactating patients, the dosages of which are selected in accordance with this physiological period. Such preparations include Vitrum Prenatal, Vitrum Prenatal Forte, Elevit Pronatal, etc.

Taking any vitamins for psoriasis during pregnancy, including those permitted, must be agreed upon with your doctor.

Contraindications

It is not recommended to take vitamins for psoriasis:

  • if there is a high probability of developing an allergy to the vitamin preparation;
  • in case of severe kidney and liver damage;
  • in case of diagnosed hypervitaminosis, with vitamins included in the multivitamin complex.
